💡NO NEUTRAL 1 Gang Smart Light Switch Installation & Set Up

Most UK household light switches do not have a neutral and most smart light switches require a neutral. Thankfully, no neutral smart light switches are now becoming more widely available.
I'll go through installing a 1 gang smart light switch and explain how to set it up to work with your smart speaker.

Many people believe their smart devices are faulty. It's very likely it's just trying to connect to 5Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz which is actually quite easy to resolve.

Can you advise what brand of LED bulb are you using if you remember? Also in regards to the 5ghz issue. Most ISP's ship routers with 2.4ghz & 5ghz networks with the same SSID (wifi name) but on separate BSSID's (this separates the 2.4ghz protocol and the 5ghz protocol) so when you pair your device it tries to hop between which ever is offering the strongest signal at the time. My approach is to rename the 5ghz network (example when i scan my wifi at home my SSID's are "home-wifi-2.4" & "home-wifi-5" and this way i can effectively create 2 separate networks to the router and you don't get that hopping issue with devices. If you have a device with strong wifi like a mobile phone or laptop you can pair that to the 5ghz network permanently because so long as you don't go too far out of range it will stay connected but something like a smart switch that probably has a cheap wifi interface can be paired to the 2.4ghz network and it will never try to hop networks.

For normal double switch or 2 gang, u only have 1 live.. There should not be 2 live wires.. U just loop 1 one the live wire to next load or switch.. While for this smart switch u don't have to do looping as they already loop the live wire at each of the load..

Good video. Only problem I have is if you turn the smart switch off at the wall you need a command in alexa to turn it back on for the light to come on. There is a workaround by naming them both 'Light' but then you can no longer dim the light with voice command because it presumes 'Light' is the switch. I realise you can just say 'Livingroom on' or 'Livingroom off' or 'Lights on' or 'Lights off' to turn everything on and off, and also dim all the lights with that command but I've got more than just one device / light that would turn on/off/dim with those commands. Is there anything else I can do?

The BROWN wire is the Live Wire and that goes into the "L" terminal on the light switch. The BLUE wire is actually a Switch Live wire, not a Neutral wire and this one goes into the ”L1” terminal.
