GET SMART 💡3 Ways to Set Up a Smart Device on a 2.4 GHz Network
Setting up a smart device can be either straight forward or very aggravating. A large majority of smart devices require a 2.4 GHz-band connection, so you might run into some issues, especially if your router automatically defaults to a 5 GHz. If that's the case, there are a few workarounds for getting your devices to connect to 2.4 GHz band. I'll show you 2 easy ways to do this and one which is the stupid way I see recommended on other videos!

As was mentioned in one of these comments, not all routers can be configured to disable 5g band. I have a Spectrum 6 router and Spectrum Tech Support wants me to carry my 27cu ft smart refrigerator out in my yard outside the reach of 5g band. They told there is no admin option to disable 5g and even they do not have the ability to shut 5g off temporarily. Great design Spectrum.

Not ideal but you could get some extension cables and move the router away from the fridge.

I was wondering where that 2.4/5 G option was, but I see there is none...thanks Spectrum!

hi. after setting up all where your smart switch connected to your 2.4ghz and your phone to the 5ghz network, can you still control your devices through your phone?
what about a washer and dryer? am I supposed to drag it outside?
Nice intro!

I have two vivitar light bulbs that reach 100% when it’s trying to connect but then it times out how did I fix
Does the cable need to be plugged in to your house to try reset it so it flashes ? Or the cable can be connected to another house to be a bit further so it’s possible to be closer to the 2.4ghz
@UTILITARIANTVUK

As long as you're still in range of the 2.4Ghz of your router, it doesn't really matter where you get your power supply.
thank you so much 👍. I bought it maybe 2 years ago and gave up because I couldn't connect 😁. Silly me 😊! After watching your video I tried again... It is working. And plug as well 👍😊😊😊😊😊. Thank you so much!!!

@UTILITARIANTVUK

During set up, try moving the robot vacuum further away from the router so you've only got one or two bars on your WiFi. 5GHz works over shorter distances, 2.4GHz works over longer distances.

ive got a cctv on 2.4ghz, internet etc on kHz, are there any cctv that run on 5 kHz?
@UTILITARIANTVUK
10 ай бұрын
They have to have them run on 2.4G Hz as it has a longer range. If they had them on 5 GHz, you would only be able to use the device close to the router.
Yes I gave it a "lovely juicy like" lol ... "Rooter" man. PS. I had to disable my 5G wifi from my AT&T admin router website in the settings - only to turn it back on after I got my Meross smart light set up after so many frustrating tries - discovering that the 2.4G and 5G simultaneously enabled frequency was hindering it.

so if I took my phone and the cctv ( 5khz) outside I can pair my cctv up with my smartphone?
@UTILITARIANTVUK
10 ай бұрын
Yes, take the CCTV and your phone away from the router until you get around 2 or 3 bars on your signal.
You don't need to bring the device with you when you set it up. You can just set it to pair before you go outside with your phone and just get your phone into 2.4 wifi and setup the device the same way. Saves you from bringing the device with you.

why is stuff on a 5khz band? rather than a 2.khz?
Or you could just put a thick box over the router to lessen the single instead of going outside scaring your neighbors.

Hold on, maybe I’m wrong. Or maybe my internet router works different then what ever he’s talking about in this video. But when I connect to my Wi-Fi I have the option to choose wether I want to connect to 2.4 or 5ghz band. Don’t get me wrong, a tutorial video is always welcome and appreciated, but this video leaves me asking if there are dou-band routers that don’t let you choose want band you want to connect to. If so then what is even the point of dou-band.
@UTILITARIANTVUK

When you connect to WiFi with a smart phone, PC, table etc, you will get the option to connect to either the 2.4 or 5GHz. However, you will not get this option in the smart devices app which is why you have to disable it.
