SNF1 Well, at least the first phase isnt as bad with Shinobu. Second phase with Shinobu would go die in a fucking hole though. Henry on the other hand, having the option to go ham with his katana or stay back and shoot energy projectiles, which actually makes me think of a ganon-esque thing where Batt then hits the thing back at you and if you successfully hit him with it, he'll be stunned.

Is nobody gonna talk about how the drummer during the making of this track went INSANE for this?

Think there is some symbolism behind Jasper Batt Jr being the final boss. Its to show that revenge and hatred in the end is such a small thing that is unworthy of your time and will only leave you disappointed in the end. I could be thinking too hard but that's how I feel about it. I rather like Jasper Batt Jr if I think about it in this way

Well. Not just by the symbolism but the 3 forms he showed end showing the type of dissapointments ya get from final bosses in either: 1) The look and style not being as neat as the previous ones ya encounterted 2) A fight that is really cheap and can be really frustrating 3) Final form not being impressive and feeling deeply anticlimatic. EDIT (August 2021): I kinda want to add further toughts over those phases 1) Phase 1 begins standart and you expect yourself a full revenge. After all Jasper had Bishop killed and Travis originally had his retaliation. But the thing is that...the victims in the case off Jaspwer were..nameless ones Travisd id not even consider yet those actions caused a pain and JAsper aimed for a similar one. And the only way would be to take over a possition off power and controling the assasains group. An interesting quote he says abuot revenge and the aparent severed heads show taht he is gonig to continue causing pain....but as soon as Henry reveals the 3 heads were fake...the whole facade crumbles and it makes Jasper look less like a tragic victim and more like a vengeful prick and who had extended his hatred way too far and too long, wich help to complement how unimpressive he looks compared to bosses before him 2) Phase 2 is when things get very rough. The serum showed his resources but the fight by how cheap it was shwoed that Jasper wasnt that impressive or confident off his skills or had something to backup. Other bosses were very good at their fields, superpowers or talents...Jasper had cash and whatever thugs he would get bubt by himself and by that ...juggernaut like form he was giving someone who needed an extension to make himself tougher...but due off the damn window he comes across as someone cheap. 3) The last stage is when the whole deal that turns the whole battle into the most absurd deal Travis had to deal. In his career he dealt with insane nutjobs, tragic figures, worthy opponents, off all breeds off all known types off combat. Wanting to brign an end to the UAA led him to that moment and Travis being the otaku he is he was hoping he would want to make the last moments off Jasper a huge pain after enduring the machinations Jasper did and the previous fight......instead his revenge is concluded by taking down a giant parade balloon and a fight so absurd that Henry wanted nothing to do with it. The form was not as hard as the cheap fight....but by that point Travis and the playr just want to finish the hwole deal as it is too late to end it. When it's over....the sensation is weird: There was no feeling of anger because off how pointless the dealw as but no satisfaction as the fight...didnt end in the way Travis hoped...neither feeling like avenging nor corrupting his soul He was able to stop Jasper from continuign to cause more pains that is for sure, and that jerk was done for....but thats a story Travis would not want to tell..not becasue off the soul hurting or something but becaue...well..he cant admit pridefully that he avenged a close friend by taking down a parade balloon, it sounds reallyabsurd.

Suda 51 meant for this fight to be disappointing for exactly that reason. Revenge gives you nothing. Yeah, sure the jerk who made your life hell or took something significant out of it is dead by your hands, but that doesn't change what has already happened. The damage is done. The only thing that kept Travis going was the need for revenge. It wasn't until he killed Alice that he realized that it wasn't really worth it. But he went and killed Jasper anyway because the bald little fucktard was just going to keep on killing.

Underworlder5 The fact that Suda 51 or whoever designed the characters designs them pretty well, shows that they wanted for Batt Jr to look like a disappointment

I... actually really loved Jasper as the Final Boss. He was everything i wanted for a Final Boss in NMH2, bizarre, 3 Phases, very tough and hard hitting. Could've lived without the windows of death but oh well.🤷‍♂️ I look forward for NMH3.

Say what you want about Jasper as a character, but you gotta admit that his boss theme is pretty dope. Well in my opinion. *-*

i like how No More Heroes is always surprising: In the first game, it was already surprising to have the #1 being killed by the actual final boss, but it was also very surprising to have Henry as a secret boss In 2, since seeing Jasper's silhouette on the window at the very beggining of the game and learning he was #1, i tought there was no way we were actually fighting him until i did, and even then i kept expecting a twist or an extra boss fight that never came. But it was all in the theme of Vengance and how dissapointing and pointless it really is, while still playing on the expectations the first game made. So yeah, Jasper being a garbage boss fight is actually genius, especially when 1's final and secret bosses were so good

What's kinda logical with the Jeane fight, if your opponent dies for whatever reason that is your win. So that means the last 2 bosses were challengers as Travis became rank 1

I don't mean to be rude here, but that was a very stupid comment. I'll make up an example right now just to show you why. Using your logic, there could be a video game with a boss that has no back story, can insta-kill you, and can only be killed with nigh on perfect timing, causing people to hate him, but because people hate the boss, using your logic, he must be a good villain. No, people don't hate jasper because he kills your friends, people hate him because he is a poorly designed boss that is incredibly cheap in the later stages of the battle.

tfw the second worse boss in the game has one of the best boss themes

okay i will say one thing about the warp punch's and how it works first imagine the area of the fight (the rectangle) jasper attacks you with the punch's in Travis's field of area 360 (a circle range) you actually have a higher chance of evading then being in the corner of the rectangle. If you are in any of the three corners it is a 90 degree angle which actually lower your chances of evading all three punches (trust me i notice this after beating jasper after a lot of times)

That's how I actually won. In a way, it's fitting that in order to win, you must force Travis to take out all his pent-up anger on the boss. Otherwise, you get spammed to death.

People keep saying that the message of this battle is that revenge doesn't pay, but it DID pay off for Travis: he avenged Bishop, all of his other friends lived, he showed up Henry, and he ran off with Sylvia at the end. The only people who paid for the revenge was US, the players. That's why this boss is so offensive; it hindered the game w/o affecting it. Travis had no reason to change and came out mostly fine. So, Suda basically punished us for playing the game.

I actually heard a theory that says that the brothers of jasper were helter skelter and skelter helter , and while i dont think thats the case it would be interesting

Yeah, a wise point you made there. But, it brings out the strategy in it. Your right though, you have to be invincible to basically overcome that attack on bitter. Maybe it was made to be that way. The more you get hit, the more you get punished because of your low ecstasy. Saving your ecstasy to the point of his health where he starts to do that OP'd attack is when you would use it.

It’s pretty hard for me to believe that Suda intended for this last boss to be such a waste of time and bullshit, partially because he got cucked out of having a more major role in the development meaning he didn’t have much creative control over the project. But, also, because it’s something I’ve never seen him do in ANY of his other games, from The Silver Case to now. For him to do that I feel like would be very out-of-character and strange for him.

@dobadobadooo Think about it this way. If Travis never killed the Pizza Butt CEO's then Jasper would have no reason for revenge. It just so happens he comes from a rich family. Jasper obviously didn't buy his way up to rank 1. He hired assassins to kill Bishop, but no other assassins. Alice is skilled, but would possibly fall for a trick by Jasper that would catch her off guard. I would say something about the guy that Jasper threw down, but we don't know if he was a assassin or employee.

I died from the window 3 times in 2 playthroughs. The first time, he didn't even kill me once, so I upped the difficulty. It sucked, until I discovered how overpowered the forward dodge is at close range

@dobadobadooo Where have I heard that before. Jasper to me is an assassin that actually puts a cartoon twist in his fight. He's by far the most creative as well. Skelter Helter would make people angry as a final boss. HE has powerful weapons but doesn't use the FULL potential. Sure he's short and annoying, but his music is epic and has a well made fight. This is also not spam it's called logic in which you are deprived of. My No More Hero boss is Jasper hands down.

@Kitsunin How I see it is like this. People robbed themselves of a epic final boss like this. They expect how a game is going to play out and assume the final boss is the same cliche as Henry that has been overused for generations. Said cliche is a cool looking final boss that in rare cases can beat you (Henry). Even though he stole your kill and saved you people fall head over heels for him. Jasper is Henry without the cliche and people get beat by him repeatedly yet they hate him for nothing.

@dobadobadooo at least it wasn't as awkward as Mimmy i mean there was a glitch where i just did a charge attack but she strike me at the same time then its like i enter a struggle with her but it didn't happen instead i had a automatic lost and it show a cut scene where she pick Henry up and threw him and she gave a thumps up or something but i actually took ZERO damage like if nothing happen that was the most awkward thing that happens.

In retrospect, Suda 51 wanted you to hate Jasper Batt. What the game wanted you to do was to stop playing after you beat Alice, but as a player, YOU wanted to continue with the story. Which is why Alice would've been the better "Final boss". Don't be dissapointed in the way they made him, cause that's "exactly" what they wanted from you.

Let me break it down for you. -Travis act like a holier-than-thou assassin to Bad Girl, yet he acts like Jasper before the fight and becomes overcome with bloodlust. -Travis tries to honor certain characters but fails to. (Alice, Holly, Margaret) -Travis wants it all like Death Metal did, but in the end was killing Jasper really necessary? Those are what facts are.

I'm going to butt in and say that I think both of you have a point. I think that Jasper absolutely did buy his way up to the top, that was kind of the point, also he was a pretty terrible boss. Where I agree with Emperor is that I think he is the perfect final boss. I read someone else's comment on another video saying that he was SUPPOSED to be a terrible boss as a statement about revenge, and I think that makes perfect sense to me. NMH often uses gameplay to make a statement within the plot.

It may be because you didn't go through his entire 400 hits worth of health. I agree though, on mild it wasn't that hard, on sweet it was pointless however, on bitter was were Henry really shined. I also do love the way Batt wears a super hero outfit, and you still beat the crap out of him, because apparently fuck you super heroes.

The problem with that boss is that I didn't have the feeling to fight someone strong, unlike Ryuji or Alice. He's just a child with much money. When I saw the 1st cutscene with the heads, i was really excited. But everything changed when Henry came. That broke everything. He was just a prick, and a coward.

Oh well, even if her fight was glitchy, it was still easy to beat, but when the glitch makes i tNEAR IMPOSSIBLE to win, something is wrong. If the glitch doesn't affect me, I don't care that much about it.

@dobadobadooo No I didn't, I never said it was frustrating, in fact the fight I had was easy just with harder enemies. So what he died a bloodless death, nobody complained when Charlie's mech exploded. Jasper can't scream in agony at that transformation. Before you fight that form his voice is hard to understand. Can you imagine how much pain he was in when he split in half? Also even if he did die with a grin on his face he's a parade float, they're supposed to look happy.

To be honest, I think it's more amongst the lines of how ugly revenge can be and how badly it corrupts you, and how much it can totally fuck you over again. Remember how Bishop was revenge for Batt's brothers?

I was just thinking of how it should have went down. Just completely take out Alice's stage and not fight her yet. Instead go straight to this one where it's a race between her and Travis to kill Jasper and claim the top rank. He gets to the top and finds the two locked in battle. It's now twilight outside. Alice kills Jasper, stealing Travis's vengeance. Travis then fights Alice as the final boss and realizes how empty vengeance is afterwards.

@dobadobadooo Sadly they would have lost against him. Why? Margaret:Has a chance, but expects her opponent to be predictable. Alice:Has high speed and could beat him and fight Batt Man. Skelter Helter:Multi-barrel revolver and beam katana. Seems good but doesn't use the full potential.

So did I. I think it was just because it felt so rewarding to finally beat him. I also don't understand why people think his second phase is cheap and unfair, I thought it was difficult at first, but once I understood how to parry/avoid his attacks he became relatively easy. BTW the most difficult/unfair boss I have ever faced has to be The Guy from IWBTG. He nearly made me go fucking insane.

The main part we hate is the second form, The first and third are not too bad, but DAT BATTMAN. SHIET. JASPER BATTMAN SHOULD BE ONE OF THE DEFINITIONS OF THE WORD "Cheap" in the dictionary.

I did (on deathmatch), and he punched me out of the window twice. The only cheap part for me was the teleporting hurricane punch, because I would end up dodging towards a window and then...you know. I just find it incredibly satisfying to kick his ass over and over again XD.
