‘No magic wand’ government can wave to fix domestic violence: Peta Credlin

Sky News host Peta Credlin says there’s “no magic wand” the government can wave to fix domestic violence in Australia.
Ms Credlin pointed out family breakdowns, poor discipline, substance abuse and unemployment play a part the issue.
“It’s partly a justice system that too often sees perpetrators as victims,” she added.
“But it is not merely the fault of the system when things go wrong.
“These perpetrators are mostly all adults - they choose to do the wrong thing and should face the full brunt of the law.”

Domestic violence is sad. Before going into foster care permanently as a child, I was around it. The woman was the abuser. She abused the men. Once when I was probably 7 years old, told us to get the hammer. She wanted to kill him. We lied and told her we left it outside and couldn't find it. That was nearly 60 years ago. I still remember it.

It's piss weak. Everyone wins a prize. It's always someone else's fault. It's a symptom of a misfiring and dysfunctional society that is sliding and continuing to slide into the abyss. However lets not mention of all the avoidable deaths in society, suicides, murders, workplace, domestic violence related more men than women die, no one ever asks the question on how many men die as a result of shoddy treatment dished out by the family court, often on the back of false claims that women invent because it wins them the day in court

We constantly hear about domestic violence against women but how about domestic violence against men? A woman can flee the hime and she still has legal access to the children but if a man leaves in fear of hus life he is legalky considered to have abandoned the children. Furthermore there is *nowhere* a man can flee to and take his children with him whereas women can take their children, but not their adolescent boys, to a huge variety of shelters. An abused woman is believed and supported but an abused man is mocked and ridiculed. Where is the equality, where is the equity?

I was violently assaulted by my ex. Police attended several times. I got an AVO. She called my work place and labelled me a pedo. She turned up to my workplace. She had other people come to.my workplace and harass both myself and work mates. Then she came to my home and attacked me and my 6 month old daughter. I called the cops repeatedly and got told 'your a grown man and a bouncer, what are you afraid of?' I'm afraid I'll snap and smash her. And if I do then I'm the bad guy. I'm the one off to jail. A detective told me to look up the full figures. She said nearly 90% of violence is female on male. And that the lesbian violence rate is off the charts. She was right. It's right there if you look hard enough. DOJ in the USA. Canada, NZ, Australia. UK. All the same. Trouble is when we hit back we do alot of damage. But I refuse to believe these women were all just sitting there knitting and the guy just starts hauling off on them every single time.

Sad but true. Women can abuse men in many different ways including with possible false allegations (including child sexual claims) and legal means, impose financial hardship /limit access to children, cause heavy emotional stress/depression/which makes it at times impossible for men, as well as women and children. However domestic violence and abuse effects on both men and women and children/families should be highlighted investigated and prevented as much as possible, not just by speeches and promises..

Perhaps you should just compare the numbers of dead bodies, and attempt to apply some logic to your thoughts. You do seem determined to avoid reality though so perhaps this won't help you. Interesting that whiny fools like you only care about 'men's issues' when it helps derail real issues, like men killing women.

No magic wand, but there are reasons as to why society has become more dangerous and less desirable. In the time of King Edward of England he enacted the 10 commandments. It was said you could walk the length and breadth of England without being in danger. If you take morality and punishment for immorality out of the classroom, you get violence and other associated evil norms. Unfortunately, the gratuitous nature of the ALP doesn’t lend itself to the kind of societal reforms necessary to ensure safety for all people.

We are predominately a secular society now and whether you liked or believed in religion or not, and even though there were a number of infectious bad apples, with some rotten to the core, and sinners who refused to give up their darker human foibles, and crazy preachers at times, at least it had predominately universal values of love one another, kindness, care, morality, respect, forgiveness, etc etc and it did give clear set boundaries of human behavior/acceptability and was evolving along such lines, and was the basis for the modern parliament/democracy systems ,laws, equality, which we take for granted and entitlement today. Most religions follow that same theme . Of course there are always extremist exceptions. Religion also fed the spiritual soul which was stripped away and emptied out when people turned to secularism, and replaced religion with materialism, "idol" worship, (drugs, alcohol, pornography abuse, violence, rape, murder, crimes, etc etc with few or limited checks and little self disciple required.) Of course there was the law and the jails accompanied by the endless lack of meaningful direction. Seems to echo a theme throughout history ,including tales from the bible when people fell into moral decline, or why religions were even established to try and counteract this moral decline and degeneracy , and keep human undesirable/aberrant behavior in check, the uptake and popularity of Confucianism, etc or Buddhism, all trying to order society or fill up the vacuum in human souls. We appear to live in such morally dangerous times now.

What about when cops or politicians attack their wives is that excused, hidden or judged by a different standard. Having an awareness campaign targeting the average joe blow is one thing, however lets not pretend cops or politicians don't sometimes backhand their partners are or far worse some cops used their position to stalk fellow female colleagues and women. I can think of significant case in WA which was reported msn 9 60 minutes many others e,g Lomar in nsw.

Domestic violence, a new generation, monogamous marriages now replaced by polyamorous marriages/open marriages, have your cake and eat it too, then we have married at first sight or farmer wants a wife, what could go wrong when tv entertainment promotes polyamory relationships to choose ones partners with married at first sight? Come on, and now there are problems? Our women are now adopting the Kardashian looks and lifestyles. Who are they dressing up for when they go out, are they looking good for their partners or dressing to attract other men? Or are they attracted to their coworkers or are their husbands or boyfriends the father of their children? It is a storm in a teacup and it comes down to who is cheating in these relationships/marriages. Some guys go with the flow of open marriages or relationships but there are many who don’t and it is these guys who don’t give a shit who commits these crimes and the day they accepted the rainbow flag, it was then this shit really accelerated, it is out of control and now they’re blaming Government? We are living in a want your cake and eat it too society, it’s too late, the horses have bolted.
