Thank you Jon. I have given up trying to change my wife's thinking around luck!😂. We make our own luck by self reliance . The more effort I put in to changing my circumstances, the luckier I become 😅🙏

You are right,Sir..I used to work at the Casinos here in the Philippines.. I witnessed how people became miserable because of Luck or Gambling..The truth is God tells us to work diligently.. Philippians 4:13..

From 12:00 into this video, Jon, the logical coclusion of your talk is absolutely right! It is about the power of contentment in one's own accomplishments. Your definition of a miracle, the power inside us, is splendid. You have put it so well. Not just in Thailand, Jon. People outside Thailand lean towards hoping for luck or a miracle or an off-beat singularly good chance, which could happen at any time and spectacularly transform their lives. They live in eternal hope and characterize it as optimism. For many years, my husband bought a certain lottery ticket. He did not win it. He also worked diligently and life has been good to him. Like me 😉, he lives in comfort.

Very wise Jon and very brave of you to question and point out the errors of your culture. There are many good things about Thai culture and people and i respect these, but i have seen with my eyes the Thai farmer do the same thing again and again, even though it does not work and they loose money and get more in debt. Now I understand they hope luck will save them.

agree 100% about what you said Jon. Hoping for good luck is a big problem in Thailand and prevents people from not trying hard enough by themselves to improve their life. This thinking or attitude will not change so soon, keeping people in debt and poverty. Certain people like it that way as they can take advantage of the situation.

I totally agree...thank you for this reminder Jon. I have always been puzzled at why people always say "good luck" here in America...it's very strange. Best wishes to all on your journey :)

Wiseman wrote a good book about the principles of luck 🤞 I love the metaphore of farming in the brain! What you describe is a mix of déresponsability, beliefs because people are traumatized by this world and it's a way of coping than to believe, there is only trauma in this world so people do what they can to go through life...

The worst thing now is that many young people are not even trying to work hard as they feel there is no way for them to get ahead.

I'm amazed at how many would agree with you in a basic way .. condemning gambling and other such activities .. yet believe in an outside source that walks on water or changes it into wine .. to interfere with our life.

In my society, it's the same. Many people ask marabouts and zaouïas for miracles, while religion recommends that they make efforts on their own.

You can have the most money and you still won’t be rich, the rich are never happy it is an unnatural burden. The richest person can provide everything they want for themselves. Once we are freed from our wanting chains we can see true happiness but still work very hard.

I think we're confusing luck with lotterys. Lottery isnt luck, its a scam, because how many had to lose for 1 to win? Its a net loss. The universe however, when the universe gives you a good crop, thats luck, when the universe gives us Earth to habitate, thats luck, and the universe is full of it. Dont look to people for luck - lottery, look to the universe.
