We grow potatoes here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Planting leftover potatoes from the previous year, which have already spouted roots (which we remove before cutting the larger ones into 4 pieces) usually happens after the heavier rains of Winter stop and the temperature at night stays above 40 degrees. Once the plants are full grown they are sprayed to stop the growth and then we check the new potatoes (still under ground) periodically to determine when they're hardened off and are ready to dig up and put into nylon bags which we refrigerate the same day. Great video, Jon! Very informative and useful information.

Yes, the taste and texture of the home grown potato is 10 times better than the one we buy at the store.

Yes, just lay potatoes out properly spaced. And cover with 30 - 40 cm of straw or hay and you will have a great harvest

Potatoes attract rodents to burrow homes in your land which will attract snakes to your farm which are natural predators of rodents. NEVER grow potatoes in your farm.
