I was excited to hear you mention Cliondah. I recently got multichromes from Terra Moon and I find it makes using my other palettes so much easier and more enjoyable. Multichromes match with everything and allow me to get more use out of cool tone eyeshadows in my existing palettes.

I’m super interested in trying some indie brands and yeah I feel like singles the is way to go for me to round out my eyeshadow collection!! I also don’t think I have any duochromes or multichromes

The ordinary is mineral - generally white cast is from mineral ingredients. It seemed to work well when I used it up but definitely wouldn't repurchase, so many better options.

I do like it but I find it just creates other issues - doesn't work well with a lot of my other products!

My hypothesis is that your usage was higher in the past due to previous usage on those products. Now most of your makeup is new or not previously used. Let me know if that might be the case.

Oooooh yes that totally makes sense!! Great point. All of the products I named in the video that I had finished in that one month I had been working on for AGES.

The 30 day makeup challenge is like what my mom does. She has always been a makeup minimalist. She has a small bag of: foundation, concealer, eyeliner (which doubles as her brow fill in) eyeshadow, and I don't even think she uses mascara because her eyelashes are too short even for that. 😅 She doesn't have lipstick except for lip balm.

I think for people who have smaller collections like that, it's not really a challenge! It's just how they live and interact with makeup, which is great

as a teenage girl I've bought a lot of makeup since being on tiktok and social media, but seeing others learning from why you shouldn't buy new makeup if you already have some I saved a lot of money and it's so interesting having beauty guru youtbers not spending so much money on makeup when you can make makeup looks with iems you already have and it's also so good for the enviroment and not having to waste any product, love that you have been using these makeup products to the end! I have a question, how big was your collection before and is your collection now slowly going down way more than it was?

So glad to hear this!! I WISH that I knew the total size of my collection before I started this no-buy (number of products etc) but I don't know, and it's hard to estimate. My guess is that I've cut my collection in about half. I think 2020 is the year when I was able to get the most things out of my collection, but I'm definitely still working things out of the collection!

I wonder if your empties number is down because your collection ratio of products “almost empty” vs “newer” or “barely touched” has changed. Or maybe it’s because you’re using products you actually enjoy, you’re not as dedicated (as you put it) to using them up, but instead you’re just enjoying them 🤗

Yes this totally makes sense, it's probably a mix of both! I have so many blushes now that are nowhere near pan that it's daunting, so I just use them equally whereas before I was trying to finish off a couple.

Omg a perfume!! That’s wild! I thought perfumes usually last people like a year 😅 though I rarely use perfume so I wouldn’t really know

I watch your content from South Africa🇿🇦 btw. I felt I was starting to buy too much makeup by my standard and enjoyed content encouraging a focus on using makeup and less about buying it. I appreciate your content. You sounded a bit hard on yourself and I think you're doing great. Sometimes it's okay not to meet a goal; sometimes the goal itself is a bit over-optimistic. I think it's good to laugh about it, learn from it and start again. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
