Thank you Nivla for another honest review. I do agree on Juras NAS whiskies being disapointing. The ones I can enjoy of those I've tried are the 12yo and NAS Sherry Cask finish. Most of them are too expensive for what they are.

Having had this at a recent whisky tasting, "Nothing much about that that's pleasant" was a very apt description. By far our most disappointing of the evening.

Thanks Nivla!! Totally agree!! I never had a pleasant JURA. Some of them were OK, but none of them was above average. JURA is hard pass for me too 🙂

It is a shame that the distillery seems to have problems, especially with their no age statement spirits.

Thank you for the positive feedback. There is not much in the old bar fridge. A few beers and ciders and a couple of bottles of bubbles. And water. I dread the day when it breaks down because it is too big to get out of there!

Hi M8. Yeah that is not a good one. There is a huge markup on that as well. In the UK that generally sells in the shops for under £25. So at a rough doubling to your currency 80NZD is still a whopper with the additional costs. Alcohol is heavily taxed here but as least the travel fare isn't added. Since whiskey has become more popular the distilleries aren't putting age stated whiskeys into the supermarket but heavily discounted NAS versions. Laphroag has the select, is ok, Bunna has the Sturidor(sic) which is fine, jura has the journey and this. There are others by glen moray and Dalwinnie etc. In fact I just looked and 1 supermarket is selling this jura for £17.99! With our taxes this bottle is being made for pennies. It shows! Thank you for the feedback. I have seen first hand the price point of whisky in the UK, and whiskey in the states. I bought a 750ml bottle of Evan Williams bourbon for $13.50US when I was last there in 2018! Now it isn't the greatest whiskey, but it was Ok and had no faults. Here in Australia the excise and duty is VERY high.

@@NivlasNightcapNotes Same this side, of course they do it for our own good. The corrupt gits. A tip I use when buying bourbon is use a vpn and shop around as sometimes they sell 'premium' bourbon here but is just the cheap stuff in the states. You don't need a vpn but it makes it easy to go to the country of origin and see where and how its being sold. I know this would be good for scotch your end. Happy hunting m8!

Thanks Nivla. Cardhu 12 was also disappointing for me. Never did have Jura. I just received a bottle of Mortlach 14 yr as a gift. I have a look if you also reviewed this. have a good Sunday.

I guess the Jura Journey was the other one. That’s the only Jura I have tried, and that was not pleasant in any way. Luckily I only bought a 20 cl. bottle of that one. If I come across this Rum finish, I’ll let it pass. Thank you 😊

I didn't actually tip it out. I used the rest of it in Rusty Nails, where the Drambuie covered the not so nice bits.

As we do not have an Aldi store in Tasmania, I have never seen or had a chance to taste this whisky. If it is any good, at $43 it must be a steal.
