from a beginners perspective with everything you mentioned included allready i would say: if you want the whole experience of the thrill, engine noise, longer races, "pit strategy", and also be a mechanic yourself. maintain your clutch, tune your carburator correct, figure out your runtimes and so on. then you have to go with nitro. if you just want to drive RC. just go after work to the track with "light baggage" and plug some batterys. you go electric. and yeh electric gets less track time at events and even during practice you can´t refuel on the fly. but you can focus on just driving, allways the same amount of power, no retune of engine needed, no clutch wear and so on. you can do less wrong in electric for beginners and focus on improving your driving. i run nitro all day long, i race events nitro. but of course i have an ebuggy and i take it out for a spin from time to time. if you just wana drive for fun 10minutes with your friends ebuggy is more chill. plug battery, turn on and drive.

When I converted my Schumacher CAT XLS Masami Edition from brushed to brushless, I found that the brushless ESC took up more space and would not fit under the stock body shell. I cut a hole and made a “bulge” in the body shell (using a soda bottle) to accommodate the larger brushless ESC.

Ive watched a bunch of videos making this same comparison. And i git to say its the best one. Because u compared and pointed out alot of things that other channels hasn't and the clips u were showing in the background were super cool and have never seen alot of them before

For the casual racer, nitro is just a lot more effort. Electric is so easy, less working on the car, more driving. I still have my old nitro buggy and I love the sound and smell, but when often I just don`t have the time and will to get it properly running.

I feel you could have mentioned the noticeable drivable differences between the two. Buggys w/the all out torque can quad rhythm sections where nitros have to double triple and what not. Nitros are all about carrying corner speed. Love your vids man, they are great. Hopefully that helps with future content. E buggy is a spectacle when pros run. They are so freakin fast and torquey

i was running only electric for a while, but got back to Nitro again as i love the long races with pitstops. But for me the cost almost is the same for Nitro compared to Electric. During last season with electric, manage to blow 1 HW Xr8 ESC, one HW-G3 motor, 1 Redline battery (One cell broke) Its alot of money in those parts. Nitro season. Got my motor to work through the hole season, one clutch change, Broke one servo. Replaced Sleeve and piston this winter so its ready for 2024 season. What i feel with nitro is that if you run into engine problems you can always buy separate engine parts and have it running again for around 100us. When electronics fails its done, Just buy new. Thats what i dont like with electric to be honest. But for sure, Its usually cheaper to race EP compared to Nitro. This is just how my seasons have been :D Great video

Great video I'll be running a very limited nitro program due to a tight budget and distance from my local track which is over an hour away.

I stopped running 8 scale buggy in 2008 because I was getting into electric and was the only one in the club who wanted to run electric so my career came to an halt. Btw, torque is literally nothing without rpm. The words you are looking for is power and efficiency in modern electric drive systems. // Mechanical engineer

The torque point is very true when comparing between two gears. However, within any given gear torque is king. Of course it's all just power at the end of the day, but with a single gear torque tells you where you will get the most force.

Back in the days of 1200 milliamp-hour (mAh) Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) batteries, the Tamiya batteries were the best.

My local hobbyshop just got a 8th scale track also we run 10th scale is well. We are only aloud to run electric bec of the residents in the neighborhood. I would like both nitro and electric 8th scale. It's just a Lil expensive for me at the moment.

I'm a fan of motorsports and enjoy the sensations at the track; love the sounds and drama of a full size race engine. However, the high pitch weed-wacker/leaf-blower braap of RC nitro and gas engines never appealed to me, really kinda hurts my head. At best have heard some nice high performance RC engines that sound awesome at idle. I do have a nice memory though as a kid of a pair of fast nitro cage buggies being run at a drive-in before a movie that no doubt stuck with me until I was able to get into the hobby myself. One thing I do appreciate about nitro buggy is the robust, aluminum chassis platform and heavy duty driveline components that 1/8 e-buggy inherited. Without that I think the industry would have given us larger and larger plastic fantastic electric RCs scaled up from 1/10 buggy. The low-slung mass of an 1/8 buggy provides a planted driving experience that you don't get from a lighter platform...and of course the durability is outstanding at that scale.

Still producing great RC racing content, when you should be focusing on studying. For me, I'll never touch Nitro again, 20yrs was enough. Brushless and lipo's means more laps, more time on the track in general, and most importantly, more time for the being part of the club. As always, great content Roach. Keep it coming when you can.

Ive had the same brushless system in my Losi 8ight for over a decade. The convenience of electric far outweighs the positives you mention for nitro.

My first real RC was a Drake XXX-NT in the early 2000s. I do miss the smell but it’s just not feasible for me anymore.
