For anyone looking to get either the TIP SE or the TIP 2, I say get both! They are both awesome EDC keychain lights. But if you can only get one, here are some of the differences between the two that matter most, to me personally: The TIP SE Doesn't feel as heavy-duty as the TIP 2, although it does seem solid enough. The plus side is that the TIP SE is very lightweight and therefore a bit easier to carry on a keychain or in a shirt pocket than the TIP 2. Both the TIP SE and the TIP 2 will tail stand, although with the TIP 2 you have to remove the tail cover. The TIP SE doesn't have a magnetic base, while the TIP 2 does (if you take the the tail cover off). The TIP SE's buttons are easier to find by feel (in the dark), since they are on the flatter side of the flashlight instead of on the edge. For this reason, and just for ease of use, in my opinion the button placement on the TIP SE is better than on the TIP 2. With the TIP SE, you don't have to hold the power button down for 3 seconds to turn it on, like you do with the TIP 2 (but with the TIP SE you do have to hold down for turbo, but only for 1 second, which is not too annoying). The TIP SE has USB type C charging, while the TIP 2 is micro USB. Finally, the TIP SE comes with a detachable clip, while the TIP 2 has no clip. Overall, my opinion is that functionally, the TIP LE is a slightly better light, with the exception of not having a magnetic base. Aesthetically, I prefer the TIP 2. It just feels a bit more solid to me. Incidentally, if you want throw, get the TUP! It is absolutely incredible. I hope this helps someone!

I love my Tip SE. It has become my EDC. Works perfect for my line of work where a light that doesn't have a blinding hot spot but rather a decent flood, works perfect as I use it especially indoors to assess dark areas in close quarters. People complain that you only get 15 min battery life on 700 lumen, but for a light that's weighing only 26 grams and that's smaller than many gate remotes, 700 lumen for 15 min is outstanding. If you want more battery life, better throw and a more powerful hot spot, then the NM01 would probably fulfill that need. I own both the Tip SE and the NM01 (marketed as the NF01 if you live in South Africa). The Tip SE fills a need for me in my daily carry system, while my NM01 fills my needs for Neighborhood patrols, home "security" and when I do night walks in Nature. One thing I do like about Nitecore South Africa is the fact that I go directly to the Nitecore shop to buy my lights as I hate buying over the Net.

Nice video. You showed every aspect of this flashlight at a perfect pace. This is the type of video I like to watch before I buy something. When I'm just about 100% on buying something I like to jump on YT and see what a few different people have to say about the item.

wish it has 300lum for 1hr instead of low 150lum & 700lum short run . Surefirer sidekick is better in this respect.

They left out that detail, haha. Still, that's not terrible for a Keychain light... on a full charge you could do four 15-second turbo bursts a day for over two weeks. Assuming that's all you did with the light.

700 Lumens run time is a joke . Amazon should drop this scam company for misleading information .

Im going for E03R just because of red light For ADV motorbiking stuff that is perfect for reading lamp hanging at your fron side of backpack

The only thing that does not suit me in this flashlight is the lack of a lock for accidental switching on ... Wearing it with the keys, it can turn itself on in your pocket

Just got this today, what i like is the ui, same as the original tip 2017, but it just depends on your personal preference. Unlike the tini, tip 2 and tup which you only get momentary turbo, the tip and tip se you can have constant turbo without pressing and holding for the mode switch. My only concern is that there is no good seal for the charging port, not that I would submerge this light anyway. Another thing is the build quality of the clip, it doesnt fit as snuggly onto its groove, there is a bit of play, atleast on my unit and sliding it doesnt requires much effort and I wouldnt have the confindence using it, worst case scenario is that you're left with the clip and lose the light, my original tip clip have already cracked and still its harder to slide or take it off the light. I like this light because of the ui and the 700 lumen output. Im not a fan of the tip 2 ui as you lose direct access to low. I love nitecore products and still keeps buying them, but the only let down for me is its build quality, I have 2 tip in which, one have a flickering issue on mid brightness, I got 2 TUP, in which one has a rattling noise, solution I've put double sided tape between the two batteries which causes the rattling noise. Buying their products through 3rd party seller in which they don't offer much warranty, and nitecore didn't honor the warranty as i bought it through third party seller.

Another thing that i don't like with the se, which is another personal preference, the beam tint is on the neutral side, I prefer more of a cool white

I am using many NITECORE products for many years, and I am really happy with NITECORE items, undoubtedly best in class. I was about to order 3 "TIP SE" flashlights for me and my mom and my wife, but not ordered 1, just because of the IP rating. Why not IP68/67 !!! The product seems outstandingly awesome, great size great features great battery life great durability, everything is great of this product except the IP rating, IP54 is not enough for all the users like me. Please guys, you should launch the same product again with IP68/67 rating. Hope NITECORE will understand our needs. Thanks.

I think it was a compromise made by the designers because they definitely wanted to upgrade to USB-C but keep the size as compact as possible which meant less room to add all of the necessary protections to get it a higher rating. However we will still pass on the suggestion to the design team!

How long is the standby charge on a full charge? The tip 2 has 1 year standby. What about this one? Need ro know for emergency bag.

1. buttons are too easy to press 2. from time to time it will randomly turn itself on and stays on until battery is depleted - there is no way to turn it off even if i notice it

How does it make sense that for momentary on, I have to hold the button for two seconds. Shouldn't holding it mean that I want the light on longer, which should turn momentary mode off? Also, there's no instant on for turbo mode? So when I need a blindingly bright light, wait for it...

Loved my original TIP but after a while the body screws would constantly back off. I even tried using maximum strength threadlocker but to no avail. I see this one has the same body screws, have they been improved?

I had the same problem with the first two that I bought. I was told months later that that was a flaw in the ones that were first produced but the newer ones didn't do that. So I bought two more and the screws have never loosened on those.

Is it the same as the previous one, a plastic clip that breaks for nothing and a USB charging port without a seal? I'm out!

I think nitecore company re assembled tip1 body & tip2 led lens... Tip1 +Tip2 = "Tip se" ..

Latex gloves?

Does it have a lockout feature like the old tip instead of using the pocket clip?

This is almost exactly what I've been asking Nitecore to build! The only thing left off of my wish list are metal buttons, the rubber buttons are the first thing to fail on the original Tip. Here is a pic of my Nitecore Tip that I have carried everyday clipped to my belt since Sept. 2016 and has had the buttons repaired with carbon fiber wrapping vinyl. i.imgur.com/v3juEKi.jpg . @@chinhuawang8141 Does not have to be metal. Can be hard plastic. It's the soft rubber/silicone buttons stick up so high and are so grippy it grabs on to pockets and things and eventually rips. Just keep innovating, and Nitecore will be my go to brand.

Why not make it IP68 rated with a normal USB port cover like every other flashlight out there? Not everyone wants to have the bulky clip attached all the time to cover the charge port. Other than that, not bad for under 30 bucks. I just ordered one (as an indoor light only).

TIP SE has IP54 waterproof rating. The purpose of the clip isn't to make it waterproof but to provide a way to attach the light to cap bill, pocket or molle systems on backpack.

is this a lipo or liion battery? the website says liion, but this video says lipo. i don’t want to edc a lipo battery.

Does this charge C2C?

So pressing mode for under 2 seconds and releasing gives hands free turbo? For how long? Does it throttle?

I will get back to you on this but usually the ATR kicks in anywhere from 30s for the really big ones >1500 lumen to around 5 minutes for smaller lights.

codependent attachment issues XD

my tip2 pocket clip broke after a few (gentle) mount/unmount with the flashlight. ill never buy Nitecore with plastic parts. the flashlights are awesome but the plastic is very low quality. i own now 4 nitecore flashlights and a (malfunctioning) charger, so im not a hater commenting. quite the opposite.

What’s the best longest lasting single AA tail button battery flashlight? Ones I’ve owned in the past, Fenix E11 & Lumintop turn-off sometimes after being on a while
