Love a reviewer that tells you straight. it gets too hot to hold steps down. Nice 👍

Have the TK16 V2.0. Really love the beam on high/turbo (they lose most of the greenish tint in these 2 modes). The hotspot is so large that I don't need to wiggle around much to find anything. I wouldn't call it a tactical light though: Not only does it rely on mode memory for turbo from off, the mode memory would also be reset to eco mode if you accidentally locked it out and touched either switch. It does get annoying needing to scroll all the way up to turbo then back down again when I'm done quick scanning. The momentary turbo override on some Nitecores and Nextorches have become a favourite feature I use on a daily basis. The TK16 V2.0 already tore 3 pockets of mine. It is no longer my pocket EDC and it lives in a Nitecore plastic 31mm holster so the spikes aren't exposed when not in use. The Nitecore style bezel is way better - same or higher effectiveness vs glass + pocket friendly. If it weren't for Nitecore's decision to insist proprietary batteries belong in tactical lights...

Excellent comparison and a much needed one at that! I love the way you compare beamshots/patterns. I've been planning on getting the p23i and still do after this. The UI is just everything for me. For this size light, I need turbo or second-highest every time. Nothing ruins my light experience more than constantly having to clicky-clicky through modes to get there.(God forbid I click one too many times in a rush) The needlessly proprietary p23i battery is annoying, but at least the lower price helps with having spares to cycle through off the bat. I love both the throw of the p23i, and the more inclusive beam pattern of the tk16'. It's a shame physics won't allow me to have both.😅

I own several different nitecore and Fenix flashlights , if your warranty ends and your tail cap switch fails Fenix replacement tail cap cost $50. Nitecore cost 20.. just something to think about

I believe you can just as easily leave off in turbo mode accidentally, as I've done it with my Nitecore P20ix in daily mode. Or, you can forget the Nitecore is in tactical mode, go to tie your shoelaces and see white spots for 10 mins. I like my P20ix, but not sure I want to go proprietary battery again, even though with rotation in my collection it's unlikely I'll need another battery soon. If I used it for work/duty that would be a valid concern. I don't have a Fenix two tail button light yet, but I find the Nitecore recessed pedal switch a little difficult to find and use sometimes, especially with the tail cap guards. Tailstanding is nice, but rarely used, and it's nearly as usable lying on its side. Great vid as usual.

Great review. Nailed it. Only thing holding the Fenix back is lack of 2 modes. It needs a true tactical mode.

My TK22 Tac has 2 mode groups and you can change it on the fly by twisting the tailcap, pretty convenient ngl

Ive seen another nitecore review showing duration after step down. The p23i lasts 2 hours 25 minutes after step down. I believe they label 30 minutes if the user keeps ramping up to turbo after step down.

Flashlights that charge using a rubber cover are more prone to breaking. due to the nature of old rubber, it will vibrate, crack, and break. and it is not sold in the market. if rubber o rings are sold a lot. so I chose fenix tk16. for the nitecore p23i, I don't like the charging system, it uses a rubber cover.
