Yup, Lumens and Candela numbers don't say it all. Would much rather have the beam profile of the "S" than the "SE." The "S" combination of flood and throw just seems more useful, overall. If someone wants a dedicated flood light, or a dedicated thrower; then it would be a different story. Ironically, I almost bought the Nitecore P10ix. Also a 21700 battery but 4,000 Lumens on Turbo. Unfortunately it's nearly all flood. Would rather have 1,800 Lumens that can reach further out than 4,000 that can't.

Nice review. I have an mh12s with a 3rd party tactical ring it fits the mh12s well as goes around the part just after the tail cap which is designed differently on the mh12se(flat without knurl) you think they have the same diameter r?

I hate that the side button doesn't work until the light is turned on from the tail cap. The best of both worlds would be tactical tail switch which comes on turbo every time with the side switch coming on in memory mode or low.

Yeah, that SE is sweet. For those wanting a sleek, slimline light that is lightweight too, those lights have it. I'd go for the SE higher candela too. I couldn't pass on the 23i though. It's bigger and heavier but the mode being in back rather than the front and the higher lumen and candela ratings won me over.
