In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the starter on a Nissan titan. Years 2004 through 2015. If you have a Nissan Armada or Infiniti QX56 quip did with the 5.6 L V8 engine these procedures will be the same. This starter replacement is a little more difficult than your average vehicle, unfortunately the intake manifold is required to be removed in order to gain access to the starter. This video shows the steps in tips to get the job done easily. Below are a list of tools and parts that you will need when replacing the starter. I hope this video helps you out if it has please like and subscribe. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something in the comment section. Thank you for watching

This is a great tutorial for the DIYer. I did it on my 2010 Armada. Just one tip: It is unnecessary to remove the fuel line and the booster line. Both have enough slack, and you can carefully lay the intake sideways to the right. Save yourself time and money.

Thank you! I successfully replaced a starter in a 2015 Armada this weekend. Took about 3.5 hours in total only because I was trying to be as careful as possible. I used a swivel socket extension on a 24" flexible head breaker bar to loosen the bolts on the starter. Didn't think the double swivel contraption would give me enough torque, since it was essentially making a U shape, but it did!

11:17 Word to the wise: Verify the length of the solenoid wire before installing the new starter. Some aftermarket starters come with the lead about 2" shorter, and it WILL NOT reach the mating connector. So be sure to graft on additional length from old starter, before bolting in new starter unit.

Anyone can do it guranteed just have a heavy hammer to break those 2 starter bolts or a swivel wrench like his. Also, I did not disconnect the fuel line like I saw someone else say in the comments, it does have enough slack 👍👍👍 Amazing video 10/10 5 star thumbs up for sure

11:50-12:02 If you are replacing the OEM starter from the factory you actually might be able to bypass the zip tie and reuse the grommet off the old starter,by simply getting a flathead to push it outward toward the left, and then reinserting it inward to the right on the pigtail of the new starter.(This is what I did on mine.) I just finished replacing my 19 yr old starter with a Nissan Reman from Z1 Off Road(2330M-7S000RW) last Saturday on my 04 Titan, and while it took alittle longer than I planned this video was very informative and is pretty much one of the best guides to replacing the starter on any 04-15 Titan/Armada. Just another side note to add for extra security, before installing the new starter. If its anything like the one I received, have a roll of electrical tape on standby and some wire conduit to wrap around the battery cable to give it the extra protection.Even though its buried underneath the intake manifolds of these trucks,it never hurts to be safe.

I'll be sure to look out for your videos when doing repairs. One pain we ran into was that the fuel line took a long time for us to disconnect it with a brand new tool. Hopefully after the tool gets some more use, the plastic will get shaved down a little to give more room for the tool to fit and disconnect the fuel line.

Great video. Thank you. It's wise to confirm there are no electrical issues prior to performing this job. Doing this job and still having an issue would be frustrating. Put 12v directly to the signal wire and run another ground wire from battery to block just to be sure. The ignition switch is another part that may be burned up. If it is...there is likely an underlying issue causing it and a likely source is the contacts on the starter. I suggest using something like acetone on the head before putting on the manifold with new gaskets. Glad to see the recommended torque specs.

Aaron, your videos are excellent. All information, tips, techniques and rationale are no-nonsense, accurate, useful and to the point. I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier, 4x4, Automatic --- The truck has been sitting mostly unused due to disability. --- I went out to try to start it, battery was dead. After rotating through 3 batteries that I had on-hand and thought were good, I purchased a new battery, #4, which still did not solve the problem. I discovered I was having an intermittent crank/start issue --- situation devolved from occasional random crank to a complete no-crank with a single audible click under the hood somewhere. I watched your IPDM self-test video just now, but haven't tried it --- Your video was for 2004+ and mine is a 2000 model, so not sure if it is applicable. --- My starter is external on the passenger side, bottom of engine I believe --- Very difficult for me to reach without a lift, and even then, access is very limited. I thought that I could use a remote start cable to manually engage the starter, no luck --- either that doesn't work on this type of starter, or the starter may be bad. --- Then I read that the NSS Neutral Safety Switch on the driver's side of the transmission could cause the no crank problem ---- This is also difficult to reach or see clearly, since I'm lying on the dirt under a tree where the vehicle was last parked. I don't currently have access to AllData or other reference material. I have an older Snap-On MT2500 OBD Scanner, but haven't tried to use it on this problem yet. If anyone has any suggestions on continued troubleshooting, I would appreciate it. PS: Aaron, I got a laugh out of the audible frustration that was evident at 15:34 when the hose wouldn't reach the fitting. Not sure what happened there, but that portrays most everything I try to do.

This is about the same as replacing the injection spider on a late 90's Vortec. Love the video. I was a bit concerned about the project. A very stupid place to put a starter. Thanks

Just FYI for those trying to do this the Video is showing the Wrong Fuel Line Disconnect tool he got lucky using a undersized plastic tool that doesn't fit. There is a ridge on the Fuel line before the input to the hole of the fuel line that makes it impossible to go flush unless you have the right fuel disconnect tool....It worked for me like in this video but I want peace of mind next time it took me many trips to Auto Stores to find the exact same tool used in this video...it's plastic and bends enough or breaks it's a crap shoot... I bought after this Job a tool that will work perfectly next time AST 8021 3/8", I'm sure there are a few other options out there too....just don't want anyone to be miss lead by this video and waste time like I had too....make sure you have ALL the right TOOLS BEFORE STARTING!!!!

Very good video. It was a few bolts in the back which was a little hard to get but if you get that far a person will know what to do. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. The operation was very successful.

So funny how every youtube video looks so easy when its def not.. Not one thing "just slides right out" or just pulls out.. Its a straight hassle but its great things go so smoothly for everyone making videos.

I can't thank you enough brother. I do paint and body, so the good news is I have a ton of tools, but I am no mechanic. I can however follow instructions. My Titan has been clicking and starting for several years now. It finally died, but I had no idea it is under the intake manifold. Thanks God for small favors, it died in my driveway, so there's that. I just ordered everything in your links, except I think the gaskets, that link didn't work, "currently unavailable"...but that's okay, I found them anyway. You should think about adding a "Patreon" link of some other way to accept donations. You're saving me at least a$100. I had to put a fuel pump in my truck last year, and it's a long story why I used a dealer to fix it, it cost me like $1400...
