Spark plug change on Nissan Micra 2013, it was a bit of a hassle getting to the plugs as it was covered by the air vent.

This is likely the next thing I'll have to do with my Micra pushing towards 100,000 km. Since the one plug is so inaccessible, does it make sense to replace the coil assembly (or anything else) while the manifold is off?

Yes. My daughter’s k13 started having coil packs fail around 115,000km. I would replace the plugs and all coils with the 100,000km service as it’s such a pain to get at the cylinder 1 plug and coil. Use the recommended long life spark plugs.

@@bajanspx Great, I'll do that. Decent coils (NGK, Beru, etc.) are quite expensive so I may just replace the one under the manifold. Unlike the Micra in the video, mine is not supercharged, so two of the spark plugs are easy to do - it's just the one on the front left that's a pain. Might even make sense to change the two easily accessible plugs, and put the new coil on one of them, drive around with them for a week to make sure there are no issues, before replacing the third (and putting the old coil back on the earlier plug).

Make sure to put everything you have removed back to its original position. Or you could experience problems

No, not a problem. I bought new gaskets (rubber seals) but the old ones appeared to be perfectly fine, and would probably last for many more years.

I had to take the air box off as it was connected to the clamp and I had to undo the screws to that clamp, in order to do so I had to remove the air box to make space
