    Hey, your videos on the K13 Micra are great, coming from someone who drives one and maintains it. I wouldn't recommend connecting a device that draws more current than is permitted, simply because there is a chance that the fuse will blow when it may use more current than is permitted. However, you won't really do much harm so it's okay for a temporary solution

    This is likely the next thing I'll have to do with my Micra pushing towards 100,000 km. Since the one plug is so inaccessible, does it make sense to replace the coil assembly (or anything else) while the manifold is off?

  • @bajanspx
    @bajanspx5 ай бұрын

    Yes. My daughter’s k13 started having coil packs fail around 115,000km. I would replace the plugs and all coils with the 100,000km service as it’s such a pain to get at the cylinder 1 plug and coil. Use the recommended long life spark plugs.

  • @simonbone
    @simonbone5 ай бұрын

    @@bajanspx Great, I'll do that. Decent coils (NGK, Beru, etc.) are quite expensive so I may just replace the one under the manifold. Unlike the Micra in the video, mine is not supercharged, so two of the spark plugs are easy to do - it's just the one on the front left that's a pain. Might even make sense to change the two easily accessible plugs, and put the new coil on one of them, drive around with them for a week to make sure there are no issues, before replacing the third (and putting the old coil back on the earlier plug).

    My Micra has an electrical cable clipped to the coolant reserve tank (bracket on the back visible at 2:02), making it exceedingly difficult to remove. I used a pump to suck the fluid out instead and fllushed it once or twice. Also, that radiator drain plug is incredibly flimsy, being made of soft nylon but screwed in very tightly. Very easy to strip the head on it, especially with repeated opening and closing. I added G12+ coolant, which is bright pink. The inevitable trace of the blue/green Nissan coolant left in the system turns it to a dirty orange colour.

  • @micradocs
    @micradocs9 ай бұрын

    That's a good way to suck the fluid out and give it a clean 👍

    I replaced my Micra's belt by reaching down with the hood open. It was a bit fiddly, but there was no need to remove the wheel or the panels to get to it. There is just enough clearance to do so.

  • @micradocs
    @micradocs9 ай бұрын

    Yes, there are a few different ways to get to it. This method I uploaded I thought was ideal for those needing more room to manoeuvre :)

  • @simonbone

    @@micradocs It's a few months later and I now have had to replace the water pump, and while I was at it I changed the tensioner pulley too. I'm now regretting trying to do all this from the top. The tensioner in particular is a real pain because you can't see what you are doing, and it is possible to install it wrong. (Edit:) Ultimately, what I did was to remove the tensioner screw mechanism, unscrew it to the loosest position, then put it back in the correct position and reinstall the pulley on the other side. That way there was plenty of slack for the belt to go on, while I could be sure that the tensioner screw thingie hadn't slipped out of its correct position. But yeah, in all the time it took it probably would have been somewhat easier to go at it from the side!

  • @simonbone
    @simonbone17 күн бұрын

    @@hassan.ali101 Assuming you have the same engine (1.2 3-cylinder), it wasn't hard. Once you figure out how to loosen and tighten the tensioner, the belt comes off easily from the top, and the pulley and water pump come off and go on relatively easily. If your new water pump hasa a paper gasket (like SEK) be sure to get it wet so it sticks in place, because you won't be able to see everything you are doing.
