Dear Thomas. Thank you so much for your continued detailed reports on vehicles. As a result of your intricate reporting I bought a new Honda AWD CRV three years ago. I am now pleased to inform you, that this week, I placed an order for the Nissan Ariya based upon your findings. Thank you so much for your detailed reporting. I already have an EV, My Kona 2021 Ultimate is Amazing. I am looking forward to buy an SUV EV, and the Ariya its a great and affordable choice. Quite Driving, Amazing Torque, Instant Acceleration. Its true that EV's are more expensive as of nowadays, but the money you will save in fuel, oil change, insurance and maintenance is worth the price. The Range of 485Kms on a full charge, The fact that you can warm up the interior of your vehicle inside the garage during winter...Nothing can compare to this...No more gas cars for me, ever...

I could test this Ariya 63KWh for thirty minutes, 13ºC and no AC/heating, in a mix of 50-30Kmh urban and 110-110Kmh motorway with some acceleration small proofs, and the final consumption result was astonishing! 9.5KWh!! This is one of the most efficient cars in the market right now. That is a very good and professional video review, Thomas. Thanks for that, and cheers from Spain.

The wheel size and features make no difference in the Canadian market. What counts is price, range (especially in winter) and reliability. Nissan Rogue is so popular here, when you have city and suburban drivers who have a driveway and can plug-in easily, and the lowest cost for hydro in North America (Quebec).. You have a recipe for absolute success.

@@autogefuehl I don't mind them so much, especially when there are still dedicated touch controls which also look very cool. I find 95% of the time climate is left in auto anyways, so don't need that much adjustment. What I DO hate is lack of dedicated controls for heated seats and steering wheel. Those controls do need to be manually turned on, manually adjusted, and manually turned off all the time, and should have dedicated controls, preferably physical buttons, but at least touch controls, and not in a screen like in the Ariya.

Better interior quality than most Mercedes these days. Wow. Love the fabric on the back of the front seats and the wood that continues to the back vents. Also love the fact that there's no gloss black and that those type of "buttons" can be done with a wood effect. I don't know why other carmakers don't use this instead since it looks more expensive and way more classy and solid. This car is very interesting. Love the interior and exterior design. Mercedes definitely led the industry interior design when the W222 S Class came out in 2013 with the 2 screens side by side. Now everyone is doing it.

When you spoke about the name, I recalled similar situations, like in Spain mitsubishi pajero is sold as montero, because pajero in spanish means wanker. In russia renault captur is sold as Kaptur, because otherwise it can be misread as "sartir" in russian, what means toilet. In Portugal hyundai kona is sold under the same name, but the word "cona" (sounds the same as kona) means "count" without "o". This situation happens everywhere.

It’s not easy to find a name compatible for all countries. You mentioned for your country that it was not the best choice for the name. Here too in Québec (Canada). In québécois (in our French slang) it means « full of complications »! And we had a lot of fun with Audi’s e-tron. In our French slang, « étron » means a big humain excrement!😂 Beside the above, you did again a very good video. You give me the temptation to look closer to the Ariya

Ariya was also the name of a 4-Doors Sedan that was assembled and sold in Iran in late 1960's to early 70's during Shah's regime(before the revolution). the name Iran is driven from the word Ariya which is the name of a particular race and it is actually a racial reference. by the way, great review as always by Thomas.

Really good review, really thorough. Cornelius wasn't the only one who was really relaxed ...... 400+ miles / 600kms with the bigger battery would be very impressive, but would this be possible with 4x4 drive option? I like the blind spot detection. Is this typically on both sides of the car ie both driver and passenger side mirrors? Thank you Thomas.

The 4x4 version losses about 5-10% the range of the 2WD big battery variant, so is nearly the same, but about 30-50Km less, fair enough in my book.

The electrical compartment box that opens and closes below your needs probably serves as a hidden compartment for cash, wallet, etc. most thieves wouldn’t know it exist and would need to turn on the car to open it.

This is the best EV reviewer I have watched. Very thorough and comments on the things I am interested in ( I could care less about painted rings around the wheel openings) but how does it actually function. It was helpful to see him constantly looking at the dashboard trying to locate the (too many) controls that are touch operated. Try that with a bad hand or arthritis , in my case both. Absolutely poorly designed by software engineers who think everything should work with a swipe or a touch on some tiny little area on a screen that removes your vision from the road. And yet we are told that a phone is distracting and therefore illegal to use. Confirms that l will stick to my analog controlled ICE cars for the foreseeable future.

@@mikeb1039 I have 6 cars and it is still easier with bad hands to use switches and knobs than trying to fart around with swiping fine lines on a screen that is out of my line of vision in my late model Camry. I would also mention that my first (summer job) was at an Olds/Rambler dealer in 1960 when the feds mandated that AT controls had to be standardized in pattern . Thought it was a dumb idea at the time but admit that with six cars, one with standard trans and 5 with controls on the counsel or the column it is easy to reach in the wrong place for the shift lever. As near as I can see there is no consistency whatsoever with any of the controls or Ecars. My friend told me his wife couldn't figure out how to turn on the high beams in their Tesla coming home in the very rural dark. I signed up for a Leaf before they came out so it is not like I'm just a curmudgeon. Why I didn't buy one is a whole other story.

I'm 70. Health issues of course. Own a Leaf and M3. Would never go back to ice. Ditto for wife. Buttons have been non issue. Why? You can just tell the car do X Y or Z. Best voice recognition I've experienced. Additional benefit at least in M3 is software can reconfigure the controls which would be difficult if not impossible with button mania autos.

Again thanks Thomas, great review. You are among the very best. Ariya. I like the name and as a Dane, has lived very close to Germany i understand the hesitation. But just get over it.. the war ended 77 years ago and you have carried the yoke long enough. The car is obviously really good and efficient. But why now and not 2-3 years ago. As you pointed out, they have made Leafs for over a decade. The things I'm missing is a bigger trunk and a small frunk for cables. And i would still prefer RWD. Still i can't wait to see some numbers and consumption form a high-speed test.

3:41 This issue comes up from time to time simply due to coincidence in pronunciation. It can easily be solved by changing the name of the car locally. The 'pajero' in Mitsubishi Pajero apparently means 'wanker' in Spanish, while 'etron' in Audi e-tron apparently means 'fecal matter' in French.

I get the manual closing versus mechanical opinion for that center glove compartment but I would hope your kids are never in the copilot seat until they are old enough to know that their hands do not go into the compartment while it’s moving. I do think it would be a nice touch if the made it only passcode or fingerprint accessible in the future because it would be a good place to put valuables in.

Having seen the Asian/Chinese models that will hit the European market in 2023+, I think this Nissan’s interior gives us a good idea of the high-quality interiors we can expect in upcoming years. High quality materials, nice finishing, all sorts of newish features. Especially mid-range European brands like VW will need to step up their (now plastic) game to be able to compete.
