It's not all about Elon, some of us also think their interiors (especially the 3 and Y) feel chincy and hate the minimalist crap that only helps the company.

Tesla interiors are minimalistic to the extreme, there is no quality control on fit and finish and they fall apart right outside warranty they're just like other American Automakers. I like my turn signal stocks and real door handles. I'm sure the car will outlast all Tesla's of the same year.

"Dealerships competing to lower prices" is like when a store sells a $15 shirt for $25, but tells you it was originally $50 so that you think you're getting a discount. If they weren't upcharging, they wouldn't have a business model.

Except with electric vehicles, any discount results in a loss. The dealership still gets their holdback from the manufacturer, so they aren’t making any profit on the deal, and may actually lose money, but the money from the factory might net them a few hundred dollars at most. The manufacturer ends up eating even more of a loss. Nobody, other than Teslais making any money on EVs. Nobody. And even Tesla is in trouble.

@@ai-connexa In terms of the highway auto drive feature, They did an update over the air I think from when I bought it in Sept of 23. Initially it was pretty fussy about exact hand positioning on the steering wheel. I had to have both hands at 9 and 3 literally like the little graphic that would pop up on the screen and even then it was still annoying. However, there was some update that came out and it is way less sensitive and is great to use now. It occasionally still makes me take action but is way less sensitive. Other than that, it does beep like when it thinks you are approaching a car that is slowing way down t turn right too fast or something but honestly it is pretty right on. I don't find it invasive and I live in downtown Denver where there are a lot of quick stop traffic moments. It has even actually saved me at least twice so I am thankful for it.

I took delivery of a 2024 BZ4X XLE model last week. I paid $500 down and the monthly payment is $266. It's a 3-year, 10,000 miles per year lease. Apparently, TM is offering such an incredible deal, most TM dealers are out of BZ4X in CA. TM also offers complimentary DC charging at EVGO for the initial year of ownership. To my understanding, there are no restrictions on the frequency of charging at EVGO stations. Nevertheless, the owner's manual advises against DC charging the BZ4X model more than three times per day. Moreover, EVGO stations are relatively scarce. I've encountered occasional glitches with the UI during Apple CarPlay usage. However, I find the vehicle comfortable, and the one-pedal driving option, despite being a point of contention for some, suits my driving style well, achieving up to 5 miles per kilowatt-hour efficiency. Among minor complaints are the insufficient brightness of the interior LED lights, lack of a glove box, small storage space in the first row, the annoying alarm sound when you are in reverse, subpar resolution of the backup camera, and the lack of illumination on the door lock/unlock buttons at night. Would I buy the car for $48,000 before tax and license? No. For that price, you can get a Blazer EV, a Bolt EV/EUV, a Model 3 refresh, or a Model Y. I am certain the next EV from TM will be vastly improved. The show has just begun for TM.

Good review. Things I didn't notice you mention about the Ariya include: * In all but the lowest trim, it comes with an EVSE for home charging too. * The top-down parking view (on Evolve or higher trims) that makes parking super-easy. * The HUD. When choosing an EV, we didn't consider the Model Y to be desirable because of the inferior interior design/feel/build/comfort - those may be soft factors, but that was why we chose our Ariya over not just Tesla but VW, Kia, and Hyundai (Ariya's closest competitors IME - I'd say Ariya is on par with all those on the hard features, but superior on soft but important (and for us, deciding) factors such as interior design, quality, comfort, space, feel. On a 7-hour road trip, what would you rather have - 10-20 minutes less time charging, or all that time in a nicer, better built, more comfortable, more spacious, quieter car?

How long do electric car batteries last before they are replaced? Or do they last forever and not have to be replaced? Yes. We were undecided between Ariya, ID.4, EV6, and Ioniq 5/6, but when we re-test-drove them, the interior of the Ariya was what sold us on it rather than the others.

Between these 2 choices, I would take the Nissan. Drop the price down 10-15K and it would be a fair deal. I would seek out a Tesla product if you had not showcased its piss poor build quality. Battery and performance in a Tesla 3 is superb. And if all you care about is chewing up tires quietly, by all means. OR stay tuned for the Dodge Charger Daytona EV coming soon. That I got my eye on. ;) If you want superb history of refined quality in your EV. Pick the Mercedes. That I had my eye on until the pre-mentioned DCD was announced.

Before watching - Both of these are valid options for people who don't want a Tesla, but for different reasons. The Nissan offers the "comfortable appliance" appeal of the Camry. This is such a different customer base, I don't even really consider the model y and Nissan competitors. The Toyota is appealing for those who want a conventional car that just so happens to be an EV. Hence the traditional controls. If I had to rank them bZ4X, model y, and Nissan in ascending order. Let's see if TFL agrees

  • @pzokz

As an Ariya owner who tried all three, I quite agree. Ariya interior design and quality is so much nicer than Tesla's. Tesla charging network is great for road trips though. bZ4X is nice enough, but isn't exciting and lacks in specs. I'd only pick Toyota if I could save a lot of money with that choice, and didn't want to invest more to get more.

  • @nevco8774
    @nevco8774Ай бұрын

If the deals are comparable then Ariya is a better vehicle comparable to Lexus RZ450e since this Nissan Ariya is practically an Infiniti. It charges consistently and has a flat curve. However there is a huge mess in Ariya trims: you want some features, you get a trim which has no other features. To have a longer range the trim has to have basic features. One cannot have all features in the same Ariya. If someone will say it is much worse charging than a Hyundai Ioniq5 then the situation becomes different on long trips relying on 400 V (for now) Tesla Superchargers with an adapter then Ariya is going to keep flat 160 kW while Ioniq5 will be forced under 80 kW due to internal conversion to 800 V architecture. Yes, everything is going to change when Tesla V4 will be deployed but it will be a while until it happens.

  • @pzokz

For us, the Evolve 87 kWh FWD trim had the feature mix we wanted. On long trips, the charging speed has been fine, and the interior comfort/experience makes those trips quite pleasant. I'd much rather have the Ariya interior than the Hyundai/Kia or Kira max fast-charging speeds.

On a purely practical level the Busy Forks is probably an okay vehicle if you can get it for the right price, you don't need much range and don't find it as ugly as I do. It's Toyota's "Compliance car/see EVs suck" effort. But it's going to get you around town fine and if you haven't driven an EV before it's going to be fun because all EVs are fun. The Ariya is actually a nice car. All the basic specs are good and I think it's Nissan actually trying to make a good EV as opposed to what Toyota did. It was way too expensive when it came out, but prices have dropped and I'm guessing there are deals to be had. If I was going to sell you an Ariya I'd say it has good horsepower, decent range, looks great and has normal door handles, an available sunroof that opens, and a rear wiper. (The real leather seats are a pro for some and a con for others.) I'd consider it but I just like the Ioniq 5 better. I think the interior looks great but I'm not a fan of all of those haptic buttons and I think the electric console is dumb as it has no storage due to the motor and is slow. I'm waiting for the I 5 refresh, but it's possible another car like the Ariya will receive upgrades and price cuts to put it in the running. I'm willing to pay more to get what I want, but there's a limit.

The bZ4x FTW. Toyota build quality and longevity trumps Nissan. And Toyota has a proven reputation to support their vehicles in the long run. 2024s have a 7.6kWh on board charger and both awd and fwd is rated at 150kw. Real world experience is 10-80% is about 37 minutes on anything above a 50Kwh DCFC.

$129 a month to drive an average of 416 miles? That's 31 cents per mile. My 25 year old Taurus will go that far on a tank of gas. Such little allowed mileage means you won't even save on energy costs versus your used ice car.

Yeah a 25 year old car is the ticket but it is nothing to do with the car it is your use model. An older truck can be even better as they are very simple machines compared to cars of the day. If a bit less efficient. But with low use efficiency is less of a concern.
