UPDATE!!!! I sold this car shortly before I moved out of the area to a guy for $400. A week later he tells me he sold it to a guy with multiple Z's for $800. This car is only making money! I had a blast with it and I wish I had more time with it. I would have loved to restore the interior and get some wheels on it and most likely turn it into a drift car. Thank you guys for your interest and support! On to the next!

Before spending anymore than a few hundred dollars--if even that--on this specific car you want to have the shock towers checked for rust-through. The back especially so. The T-Tops are notorious for leaking and draining in-between the body and plastic molding on the interior. In any case, that's an expensive repair that only someone who's in it for a passion restoration project would want to get into. And if the shocks bust through the rear towers the car isn't going anywhere. I'm estimating, but it would cost anywhere from two to four thousand dollars to repair unless you can do the metal work yourself. Also, check to see if it still has the master and slave cylinder for the brakes. If it's like the '86 I had sometimes people would remove the master and run straight to slave--which should be underneath the car. Lastly, just look for rust. Particularly around the T-Top seals, rear hatch seal, around the bottom of the doors, and the rocker panel. Other than that, the Z31 engines are kind of bulletproof. The only problem I had with mine was the water-pump went out on it which was kind of a bear since I had to get into the timing when I did it. Though, I still question rather the Haynes manual didn't lead me down the wrong path on that venture. They are fantastically fun cars--especially when you live at the beach. People cannot help but marvel at T-Tops when they see a car with them out, in-person. And, it represents some of the best parts of the 80s.

First thing to check besides frame rail rusting out is when was the timing belt changed last..think it's every 60k plus waterpump and cam seals. $30 Belt breaks and your talking thousands to rebuild motor

​@@BusyB07 Vg30 is single over head cams 2" Vq30 is duel as in 4 cams. All v6 engines I believe won awards for best production v6 motors for multiple years in a row

V6 turbo. Mainly just in white color scheme with recaro bucket seats..my favorite was my 84 50th ae turbo.. Best one of the z31s

Change the fuel injectors/ per the recall

I love the z31, planning on buying one, just don't like the 1986-1990s taillights, it looks nasty to me
