I remember exactly where I was when the news of Kurt's death broke, and remember sitting around with friends watching the coverage. We were all in a little bit of shock, even though we knew about the mental health issues. I mean, those mental health issues were part of the reason we loved him so much. He was one of us.

Yeah what you said. In the 90s I was not yet diagnosed with depression. I thought Nirvana was good but derivitive of Pixies, and others. But my mind has totally changed. Kurt had a really authentic personality. Eternally curious and informative. And feminist too, which was not easy to be!

Nirvana didn't play any of their hits in their MTV Performance. They also filmed the entire performance in a single take and left all their mistakes in. Kurt reportedly was going through withdrawals from heroin and was vomiting bile and blood during rehearsals. The sigh of relief that it's almost over and the way he looks at the camera still brings a tear to my eye to matter how many times I have watched this.

I disagree, Kurt was equipped for the harshness of the world, I know where he came from , and the people he ran with , didn't know him personally but did know people he was around kind of ...unfortunately depression plus drugs and outher health issues takes a terrible toll , especially the depression , Iam actually surprised I didn't run into him , at that time I also stayed at the same motels and areas , but at that time before nirvana became well known .....anyway its my belief it was the depression that got him , it almost took my life as well and the drug use was just a symptom but what do I know

I saw them play twice. A friend’s band opened for them at a club in Ft Worth after ‘Bleach’, their first album, came out. They were traveling in two vans. Cobain picked up my friend’s guitar stand and he had to follow him out to get it back. They were great though. I saw them in Austin after ‘Nevermind’ came out, at Liberty Lunch, a bigger club. That album blew up fast, so they were booking arenas, but they honored the club dates they’d already booked. They were great again. My sister saw them play a house party in Santa Cruz. At first, Kurt disappeared. They announced that no one could find him. His wife publicly asked him to come home. A few days later an electrician went to do some work at his house and found a body in the greenhouse with its head blown off. We knew it was him, and a lot of people thought his wife Courtney Love had something to do with it. He had a lethal dose of heroin in his system and he was found with a shotgun. At the same time though no one doubted that he could have done it. After all, he’d written a song called “I Hate Myself and Want To Die.”

It seems like the greatest top tier talents in music dont last. They ruin their lived with drugs, die or both. Im sad for his kid and family to lose him, but the selfish part of me wonders how much more this man could have done with Nirvana. Atleast another solid 2-4 albums of amazing material. Just thankful we got what we got. Nirvana are a once in a lifetime band.

Speaking of suicidal. The Germs were dark, reckless and tragic. Nirvana/Foo guitarist Pat Smear (with short black hair) was the Germs guitarist. Punk af, from Los Angeles. See their clip from the infamous documentary Decline Of Western Civilization (Part 1). Footage from 1980. You won't be moved by the music but you'll be shocked by how authentic the self-destruction is. Of the singer Darby Crash. He died of OD shortly thereafter. He might have been suicidal, but I think he was killed. No fingerprints on the gun. And the chief of police said in a documentary, if he was still working today ( he’s retired ), he would reopen the case. Plus Kurt and Cortney were having marriage problems, AnD some ppl think that song was directed at her ( for possibly staying the night with the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins band at the recent time. Kurt and I are the same age, and I was and am a HUGE fan. That album “Nevermind”, changed EVERYTHING in the music business, knocking out Michael Jackson for the #1 spot on radio!! Stop believing the headlines and do your research bc the man was murdered and I’m glad to see you get generations finding his music also.. this man was a rock legend and it’s greatly missed but he did not take his own life but his wife was evil and greedy and had him killed bc he was going to leave her and why this song was the last song and why he had that emotion behind it.. my girl my girl where will you go? I’m going where the cold wind blows and will shiver and etc bc she was cheating on him and he was in love with her but she only married him to help her crap career and why she used one guy from a band in the late 80s to help her write music then billy from smashing pumpkins and then Kurt then billy again smh her album live through this was basically written by Kurt I mean the guitar music was and you can hear it

These silly faces you have started making in you cover ads, don't make you posts more appealing! In fact, it's quite annoying!
