Still wish they could let you create a curvy character but not really an issue this is is one of the best and meaningful character creation option i have ever seen in an action/RPG...

PRO TIP - If you go to the options menu you can turn off item pickup under a certain rarity. You can choose the rarity as well (basically set it to blue or purple so that the option doesn't even show up to pick up anything lower in rarity, for instance). This basically FIXES inventory management, and lowers the constant flow of loot you don't want or need.

Fun fact: there's a purpose behind the "difficulty" rating of your phantoms. The game actually tracks your playstyle - how often you're in a certain stance, what spells you use, etc. The higher their difficulty the better their AI.

@@RGTwoThree you really don't need to at all. There's a few references to the first, but since this is a prequel, there's nothing depending on you knowing the first game at all. This has more systems and gameplay elements than the first, so it doesn't matter if you've played the first.

@@GORO911 Nioh 1 combat feels totally different to me for some reason... In the beginning combat does feel stiff in Nioh 2 but that changes pretty quickly once you start getting the set items and statt focusing on a particular build type for your character...

@@gustavoroque8830 Yes. It’s definitely a hard game, so be prepared , but it’s also incredibly fun and satisfying. The controls are tight, combat’s a blast and they fixed a lot of the mistakes from the original. I paid $20 for it on Amazon, but I wish I’d bought it for $60 when it first came out to support the devs and the work they’ve done. It’s a really good game.

@@gustavoroque8830 I decided to buy the remastered PS5 collection last month and it is completely worth it. It brings the 1st & 2nd game, as well as all DLC in disk. The game is pretty difficult, but it's very fun and scratches that feeling you got for a challenging hack n slash adventure. Also great weapons, armors, and boss designs. Ps. The remastered PS5 version is $50 on Amazon right now.

2021 I have nioh2 the completed edition that's a lvl 24 character with dual wield build that's stuck on a snake boss and always gets frustrated every time I die from it but I still enjoy nioh2 till this day 😌

The whole game can be played co-op too so that's pretty cool

What I really love about Nioh2 is that we can change the appearance of our armors and weapons to suit our preferences regardless the actual look or the type of said equipments, we can mix & match the cosmetic look of our character while still be able to use the armor we need for our intended build. That is something a *LOT* of similar games with RPG elements don't really give us the option/freedom to do so. The character customisation in Nioh2 is better than many similar games with RPG element, not many RPG games allows you to change the visual appearance of your equipments. Most of the time they left you stuck with your character's build. Nioh2 easily lets you change the look of your let's say the tanky build of Axe wielder that's obviously using heavy armors to look as some barbarian with cloth armor. We can also change the look of our let's say blessed weapon into a cursed weapon of the same type. To be honest, this is one of the most important things to keep you out from boredom while playing this game since it's quite hard and the learning curve is a bit steep for beginners. I've played over 200 hours across 2021 and spread evenly on all weapon types available to this game. Personally I liked Kusarigama, Switchglaive, and Dualswords build the most, while having Splitstaff and Axe as the least preferrable choices of main weapon. I still remember the time when I was a complete noob that it even took me 3 days to even clear the "tutorial-ish" first mission back in march, lmao.

I like how honest you are towards the end. All the reviews I’ve seen make it seem 100% perfect. I’m still super into it and will play next paycheck

Loving this so far. The difficulty curve is kinda harsh at the start but really forces you to embrace the combat system in a good way. Highly recommend if you enjoy this type of game.

A major part of the game is loot. It's all about gear. Make sure you read stats actually do on weapons/armour using the help tool tip. Actually make sure you center around what you are building for. Makes an enormous difference in how difficult you will find the game. In NG don't be afraid to experiment a lot. It rewards you with titles etc which translate to more xp/damage etc when you redeem them.... And build sets if you can. Those bonuses are huge.

Also, get the dodge pulse (Running Water: Man, it's the second skill in the middle left of the samurai tree) as soon as soon as you can, automatically pulsing with a perfect dodge after a combo keeps the action moving.

Running water pointing to dogde and be aggressive, and heaven, man, earth all hint to high, mid, low stance.

Once you get into it this is one of the best games I've ever played. Starting it right after beating Sekrio twice I had low expectations and while I wish the deflect mechanic was here (I know it's in Wo Long but I just don't like it as much as the depth of control and diversity of play in Nioh 2) the weapon variety, enemy and AI, the 3 stances and all the Yokai abilities etc etc etc I'm having just as much fun playing it as I did Sekiro which was way too easy on NG+ but perfectly balanced and challenging in the first playthrough (first took 2 weeks, second took 3 days) which is why I looked up the best mechanically interesting Soulslikes and went for Nioh 2 (got The Surge 2 as well, also really great deep mechanics to that soulslike as well). Anyway it's damn good is all I'm saying. It's hard to get into and understand how to play but once you do this is basically Devil May Cry in a soulslike

nioh 2 is top 2 in the aspect of (Compact) , variety of weapons (which kills boring and repetition) and keeps you excited to try new things and skills, is a huge part of and better than Sekiro in that regard (not the whole product). It is definitely the top 1 game for me, although I experienced most of the best Souls games. somehow I feel this game is still underrated compared to others who got a huge boost and hype.@@thishandleistacken

There are lots of options somewhat burried that helps the menu system a lot. Advanced filtering, avoid pick up options for loot below a certain rarity, and I think you can sell/dismantle based on rarity. It's far from a perfect menu system but there are various quality of life options to help.

I'm loving it so far, the one minor gripe I have is so far anyway it seems like the only or at least best way to get the weapons you want is from revenants. That seems to only work if the revenants are carrying in your chosen weapon. I like dual swords but there's not a lot of revenant it seems wielding them so I'm not getting good dual swords

@@brandonroberts1638 In Dream of the Samurai up until Dream of the Strong, you can get every item from the revenants including the original skills inside, so you can trade items with friends very easily. But in Dream of the Demon / Wise / Nioh, it's no longer possible. I mean you can still trade something but the skills inside will be randomized.

45 hours probably to complete the game in Way of the Samurai. After that's there's NG NG+ NG++ NG+++, with Dream of the: Strong/Demon/Wise/Nioh. And no it's not just the same game but harder, it's much more, you get new equipment sets (graces), new special skills each time. In Dream of the Nioh, you can finally get amazing skills. You even get more enemies and the Underworld etc. In other words, the game doesn't really start until you reach Dream of the Nioh. Everything before is an appetizer.

I’ve been stuck in a IDK WTF to play phase for a while this video took me out of my funk thanks man!

You can sort the weapons and armour out by atk power or defence. So when you change things just choose whatever is on top.

Absolute favorite game of 2020 so far , hands down , love this game , reminds me of Ninja Gaiden Black

I just started playing this game and so far, I am LOVING IT!!! :D

I quick tip about the inventory management, decide as early as possible what weapons you want to stick with and if you want light medium or heavy armor. Then just dismantle/sell everything else. You will still have a good bit of stuff but it won’t be as overwhelming

Even what he said about inventory, grab everything you can. You be wishing you could aquire more amrita. Just sell everything white and yellow levels as a rule at the shrine under the kodama offerings and will make tons of amrita. I wish I knew that at the beginning of Nioh 1. I'm doing it now in Nioh 2 and it's a tremendous help to boost the levels ranks

There's a Sake that you can drink that gives you +50% amrita. And if you get the Sukuna... set (the one that the Sudama can give you) then you can get 80% unused of that sake, so with 10 sake, it's as if you had 50 of them. Combine that with kodama blessing and the kodama bowl (which gives +29% blessing) and kodama core (+16% blessing I think?) and then you get a TON of amrita.

There is a new Burst Counter, Soul Core(Where you can use yokai abilities from yokai you defeated that drops it), Two new Weapons, Can Summon Allies, Living Weapon was changed to Yokai Shift(3 types), More Enemies, New Story(obviously), Character Creation(Slider), The Skill Tree was changed and kinda overwhelming at first(To gain skill you must use specific weapon and Omnyo/Ninja), And Obviously new Areas and Still Nioh obviously, Honestly its a lot

Pro Tip - When ADS (R2 or equivalent) with a long range weapon, you can press R3 (or equivalent) and it will zoom in your zoom to help getting those long range headshots!

armor set bonus matters too. so if there’s a set you prefer to use, soul match it. You can always trandmog the look if you like the set bonus but not the looks.

i understand that most people got the Ninja Gaiden conversation out with Nioh, but i think the Team Ninja touch really comes through with this game. i've had so many moments with Nioh 2 that brought back fond memories of Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, and i love that Team Ninja and From Software have sort of done their version of each others' games, and done them excessively well. also, the inventory management is a bit heavy, but the sorting options certainly help as well as the "select all'. i find myself dumping everything out via "offerings" anyway, so i don't hardly notice inventory management to begin with

Has anyone noticed how similar the hatchet's moveset is to the Berserker in For Honor? If you switch the controls around a little, and unlock the right skills, you'll catch yourself trying to use the right stick to adjust your attacks.

Bought it on release date, absolutely love it.

After days of rage quitting on my first try (first game of this style and not knowing a thing) and doubting myself if I wasted my money, Im really glad I kept going back to my chair to get it going. It took me a while to get the mechanics and a few weapons but I got it down hahaha. I went from not knowing a thing to building my own builds (not up there yet tho). Moving on to region 3 and I must say that I really love this game.

Why is no one mentioning the inventory filter feature? Really helps with the management of stuff. And you can create favorites. 2 improvements right there.

Come to see if its worth grabbing on PC next month. The original was a fantastic game and I more or less had the same issues that you did. So happy to see we're getting more enemies to slash up got sick of those brute demon things in the first one. Overall I'm sold.

If I'm gonna buy this well this would be my first difficult game ever.

Helpful hint - you DONT have to fight the big mini boss at the first 3 minutes of the game. If this is your first difficult souls-like game you're gonna have a difficult time. Just take a deep breath when you get frustrated and try new things. Items are useful too - be sure to read what they do.

If you get it.. dont get too frustrated. You're meant to die a lot. Just make sure you collect stuff from killing enemies, put the highest armor on, and offer everything else to the shrine to get upgrade points. Once you're a higher level, then you can focus on progressing

Whatever you gotta do. People cry for an easy mode in these games but there are ways to make it easier it’s just not as simple as changing the settings

If you summon online visitor does it affect the trophy? for a boss for example?

Maria from the first Nioh was harder than any boss i've ever played in any video game I just had to say that because you mentioned her.

This for me was a non brainer to preorder. Absolutely loving it

I love falcon before you buys. Nice surprise and love the refreshing change once every often.

I wish they had stats bars it’s confusing to realize all the stuff I got going on I forget sometimes

Loved this review, nearly finished the game and agree with everything that was said! I wish the online factions had a real time battle mode :(

Been playing it for 16 hours a day since it launched. Really no life with the virus around. This is an amazing game. I’m excited to push through more weapon proficiencies and rare skills from a few bosses makes for a really nice loot grind. Inventory management is a little easier thanks to the favorited items tab (great for those items you wanna find in a combat and didn’t have room to put on your 4 bars of quick use. The further you get the better the game becomes and Nioh 1 veterans will have a lot to enjoy even on the older enemies that have a few new tricks.

Honestly this game is a lot of fun. Endless combinations of different builds and move sets with each individual weapon. Experimentation is half the fun. Some of the side missions are a little bit like the first one where it was just “filler” But the game is fun, but it’s very addicting and fast. You literally can create your own super powered anime character LOL

Can you add "re-playability" to your Before You Buy videos? I realize you haven't beaten this game yet but this is definitely a serious consideration when it comes to games I fall in love with, please and thank you :)

I've very late to this but this game is amazing. I'm about 20 hours in and I'm lobing it so much. I've seen a lot of people praising the character creation and combat but I gotta say, I absolutely love the level design. The elevator design is so reminiscent of Dark Souls 1 and all the short cuts make every level so much more intriguing and makes you wanna explore even more. It's still pretty hard and I never played the first one so it took me quite a while to get used to it but once I did I loves it so much

@@just_jin5850 I got it on ps+ for free but even if I hadn't I would totally say it's worth the money. If you enjoy Souls like games then you should definitely try it. The level design is really fun, there's a ton of cool enemies, the boss fights are all really engaging and the combat is tricky but also really satisfying. I'd definitely recommend it but if you aren't 100% sold on the game yet then maybe wait for it to be on sale? I've seen it be on sale quite often in the store. Hope this helps:)

@@just_jin5850 I was looking at the game for myself for Christmas too. If you're in the US, playing on playstation and ok with physical Best Buy has Nioh 2 on sale for $20 for PS4 and both BB and Target have the PS5 double pack of 1 and 2 for $30 right now.

Freed Harowi Thats your opinion and I respect it, if thats what you think then alright. Its not everyones cup of tea anyways and comparing it to a fromsoft game when its not made by fromsoft is the biggest disrespect u can give a game that took inspiration from a fromsoft game.

Equipment is so important! The perks on the gear are what help complete your build. Just throwing on random pieces is really not viable. Not saying you have to min max every pickup but you absolutely need to pay attention to the stats and requirements on new gear.

Going to play Nioh 1 at some point because it was free. Good video.

After watching at least 20 youtubers, Nioh 2 should get call a "nioh 2: odachi bangaloo"

After getting into demon slayer and reading all the manga I'm kinda just looking for a fantasy sword like game to hit a spot.. This seems like it could scratch that itch

I already own Nioh 2, I'm just bored watching YT. Definitely a purchase worth making if it looks interesting.

One small correction to the video. You DO NOT, in fact, have to have beat the level previously like in Nioh 1 to be able to play it with a friend. Once you complete the opening mission you can play every mission with up to 2 other people but the game adds various ways of making it more difficult to compensate.

Definitely I'll get this game, I loved nioh 1 and this look even better

I already bought it and I LOVE IT!

Me and my friend just finished clearing the last DLC in Dream of the Samurai-we both ended up enjoying the game way more than we thought we would. All of the weapons are fun in their own way, the ninja and omnyo magic systems are great, and the story ended up being surprisingly good. That last cutscene of the last DLC was a nice send-off for the game

I don’t normally make comments but , I just wanted to let you know, ( if you even see this) that I literally just looked up “before you buy” for this game yesterday, and when I noticed you didn’t put one out yet I held my opinion of the game to myself and decided to wait. I must let you know that I greatly appreciated your consistency and honesty not to mention your punctuality.

Was so waiting for this

before you buy... I can't get past the first level, making it the hardest game I ever played. That might have been good to know.

Haven't even played nioh 1 and I'm here watching the review of nioh 2.

I was a big dark souls fan and I played the first nioh but I wasn't too crazy over it and just played like 1 or 2 levels. This game looks kinda fun I wanna give it a chance does it have pvp?

Also you can hide your helmet in the settings so that you can still see that face you spent one hour customizing

I was pleasantly surprised with the simple improvement in loot management. The ability to set the sort by and it STAYS, not having to click stick every time!

Yes this is better, and there's a filter system too, very useful, so you can search for specific things in your inventory. The major issue is the 4000 limit in the Storehouse, it's actually worse than Nioh 1 because now there are Soul cores, and they will end up eating 600-800 of that space, so for weapons/armours, you're looking at 3200-ish which is less than 4000 in Nioh 1.

the yokai abilitys you can use are great!

Lol I didn't figure out that soul core thing until part way through the second main missing after I did the one side quest that was available.

Great video! Was never a fan of souls like games, & probably will never be. IMO games like these, you only get to see the first 2 animations of your attack before you dodge, rinse & repeat.

Doing a 2nd play thru 3 years later and this game is still bangin- feel like some of the complaints in this video weren’t justified BUT some were- mainly just the overwhelming loot variety when you first start.. but once you kinda know what your looking for it’s not bad. 9/10 game for me

I thought level design in Nioh 1 was really boring, and very repetitive, despite being a good game, I hope this one has more diversity. Because Nioh 1 was caves and caves and oh a Castel with a cave...

I diddnt mind the setting of nioh but but I did get tired of the level designs they just felt like always it was like Final Fantasy 13 but better

@@cidfacetious3722 What pissed me off and unfortunately stays the same in the sequel is the enemy variety. It's pretty shitty that you fight upgraded versions of the same trash mobs throughout the whole game.

Before hoping on the main missions, do and re-do the side missions to get leveled in the game

Two things Did they bring back the graphics toggle? So you can choose to play at 60 but with worse visuals, or runs at 30 but with better visuals. Is there an option to use motion aiming when using long range weapons?

You can choose 3 options. Framerate, visuals, or a bit of both. Aiming with a bow is how you would expect it in a 3rd person game

It's fine that it does't include it considering that the combat is mainly close quarters combat, but it would be nice to have the option to use it
