In your opinion, was the Game Boy Color necessary in a time when the N64 had no proper handheld partner? I honestly think the Game Boy Pocket wasn't sufficient enough as the N64's handheld partner. Well, you are talking about different times and different cases. Nintendo is not even aiming to catch up with the competition anymore. Their hardware sure works for some decent percentage of 3rd party games available for other systems, just not exaggeratedly powerful. It's always been like that since the Wii.

Are people really this bored and desperate to the point where they feel the need to title every video "Why The Nintendo Switch 2 is DEFINITELY coming in 2024!"? Go get a job, finish school, play Tears of the Kingdom, or something other than making a video that has zero true information, only wishful thinking.

I too have had enough about the switch 2 news, Nintendo has clearly stated many times that theres no plans on moving on from the switch, and it's clearly been proven that many of the leaks are fake.

Watch the switch successor releases January 2026 just to spite both Demeech and TD.

Well that could be a good thing. In terms of the fact that some people had issues with the first Nintendo switch having lacing issues. And I had to fight against the switch controls to control what I want to do on a game that I maybe playing. If we do get a Nintendo switch 2 in later Years, then I want it to be able to run well, and not having to deal with those lacing issues on it. Also to be able to pokemon the first switch games on it too with no problems or issues with it at all.

I'm honestly glad a lot of people are stepping up and getting annoyed by these switch 2 rumors. The only way we can get an answer and when we are actually getting the next console is from Nintendo officially themselves.

Having not seen the video, I'm with you on this one. For me, all I really want out of a Switch 2 is more powerful hardware and backwards compatibility, and that's something they could easily accomplish by not making Switch 2 and instead making a Switch Pro. Even doing something like bumping the output resolution up to 4K or having 120 FPS support or having Joy-Con that are actually comfortable for me to hold for long periods of time wouldn't necessarily call for a Switch 2. The only reason I could see Nintendo actually wanting to make a Switch 2 is if they thought they could integrate a new and experimental control paradigm; something like the trackpads on the Steam Deck, or that funky scroll wheel shoulder button concept Sakurai talked about in one of his videos, or if they were absolute madmen, that crank from the Playdate. Even then, I can't help but think they might have some trepidation about doing that considering what happened with the Wii U.

Switch pro sounds so lame, and would be them copying off of Sony/PlayStation. And when has Nintendo ever copied off of Sony? If memory serves me correctly? It was always the other way around. Nintendo rumble pack- Sony rumble controller, Nintendo wii motion plus controllers-Sony pulse motion plus controller. They don’t need to start copying Sony by putting out a crappy mid gen console and having the same name slapped onto it.

The big question i think is: how is a switch 2 a one-up from the switch? And what do you do after the switch if you don't split the consoles lines again or do another gimmick? Nintendo doesn't often do "pro" versions of consoles that don't also have something else in them. Game boy and ds had unique, weird, left field iterations that leaned into some fad/new innovation of the time. And like you said, the switch is still selling like nuts. Plus, the switch already had a second updated version, the oled, and the lite if you count that. Even the labo if you stretch/think like a casual consumer.

Agreed. That's the only way I can see Nintendo releasing a Switch successor right now. They just released some of their biggest franchise's games. If Nintendo wants to keep releasing quality content, I doubt they have anything that is in a ready to release state for their new console. A lack of 1st party games is another contributor to why the Wii U failed and I'm sure that is the last thing Nintendo wants. Releasing a console this year would be bad unless they already have many good games ready for the new console when it releases.

Not related to the video, but what was your worst game of 2023, Demeech? To me, it is a tie between Redfall and Skull Island: Rise of Kong. Redfall embodies everything that I hate about modern gaming, and Kong is just a cheap and overpriced shovelware game that feels and plays like a mobile game ported to consoles.

yeah personally i'm fine with a console being relevant forever i mean think about it, Nintendo doesn't care about power anymore and the Switch is still selling well i mean i get why people get exited for new consoles but it shouldn't be ok to want a console to be dead in less than a decade. The only console i know that lasted that long was the GameBoy in the past it actually made sense for console to not last that long because the technology was constantly improving and giving new oppertunity's, but today we don't have those limitations anymore consoles having a limited lifespan is also one of the reasons i migrated to Steam (and emulation)

Yeah I believe these rumors are fake. I bet the switch still has some steam left in its engine due to how well it's still selling. Also the Sonic x Shadow Generations trailer says it's coming out later this year on Switch so this year is NOT the year of Switch 2.

I can't see it releasing later than 2025. Because if it does it'll be the longest console generation ever since the original game boy. Don't think it'll release in 2024 because we don't even have an official codename yet (e.g the NX).

Well... To be honest, the Switch 2 would be a huge mistake on Nintendo's part. First, it would be hard to innovate past what they currently got besides more powerful hardware. I would like to point out that more powerful doesn't mean better, a good example is a slew of latest releases that have come out buggy and broken at launch. While the Switch has quite a few those, most of the exclusives didn't seem to suffer from this problem so much. Not to mention, there is the Wii U/3DS problem too. While Nintendo is in a much better position than they were in that era, the marketing for the Wii U and 3DS were a bit weird, especially for the Wii U. Look, everyone (including me) thought that the Wii U was relay a add on for the original Wii when in realty it was just a new console all together. But do to lack of support and games for the console, the Wii U really just ended up becoming a more powerful version of the Wii essentially. It was a console that was just a bit overpriced for what it was and no one really sought out to buy it. The Switch 2 could suffer the same fate as well, epically if devs decide to drop that one like the Wii U. However, I know the chances of that are low, but it could happen since the Switch is still a great console that still works competently for what it is. Another thing that could ruin the Switch 2 is (controversially) backwards compatibility. Look, if the Switch 2 has something about it that will turn devs/publishers away, then the chances of them to keep developing for a second version of the Switch could end up going straight to low. Not to mention, for the people who want a PRO name for the Switch, keep dreaming. Is this the same Nintendo where talking about? The odds of Nintendo adopting a Pro moniker is about the same as a rich guy giving you a million dollars for no reason. It could be called a NEW, but then the NEW Nintendo 3DS was a bit of a flop too.

more powerful does mean better. The games will look better and run better. There are games on the switch that even struggle to maintain 30fps. Even BOTW has its issues. It's outdated hardware. The problem with the WIIU was their marketing.

@@JoeDirtisawsome That went flying over your head, Developers have no idea what to do with that extra hardware, especially with the PS5 having games that don't do too much with it (and PS4 games being developed along side the PS5) . Same goes for the latest XBox too... BOTW has some issues, but the fact that it can run is a testament to that hardware. But it's never really been about the hardware, but what you do with it. I know that the Portal 64 project had a DMCA take down but that game was impressive, epically for the fact that guy got it running on the N64 hardware. It goes to show that relay even the older hardware still has some serious untapped potential, and just because we get newer and more potent hardware shouldn't mean we should count the older weaker hardware out. It makes for better accessibility if you can get it to run on a PC that is dirt cheep with a Celeron processor and 4 gigs of ram. Not to mention that there are games that have been released of recent that barely run on there recommended specs too (yes even on the PS5/PS4 and XBox). What's even sadder yet, that most of the games that have been released on PS5 or XBox don't really impress me much either unlike the Switch, because the Switch they had to figure it out to get it running, the Xbox/PS5 they just slapped something together and called it a day without worrying about any optimizations. You know, that there is another argument about Optimization as well. These games could push out better performance even on the more powerful hardware that they are marked for, but it's embarrassing when none of them do it...

This is for all those Twitter leakers and nintendo clickbait youtubers: Why we can't be happy, just, HAPPY with we got now? I get it that you like to see something new in nintendo's catalogue, like a new mario kart with more nintendo characters, a nintendo switch 2 with 4k full HD, a remake of a zelda game like wind waker or twilight princess, or seeing earthbound, kid icarus or f zero making a comeback. But let's be real people, one thing is speculate about something on a nintendo direct, and other thing is *lying* to your public for easy views. (Yes, i see you nin10do land and switch force)

Ummmmm yeah we do. For years the switchs hardware has been very outdated and is barely keeping up, and its holding nintendos games back.

I think we will get a new system in mid 2025. Nintendo tends to release game consoles faster than their competitors. Based on the wii which a successful Nintendo console they released the Wii U a year earlier than the ps4 and Xbox one and based on when the Switch released it will at least take 8 years cosidering console generations have been longer and Nintendo is also releasing a lot of remasters which is a sign of us being near the end of the console cycle, but definitely not this year. The switch pro might be a good idea as it will allow people to keep their games if nintendo gets rid of your games but shutting down the switch service there will be outrage amd people might be less willing to trust Nintendo if people have not already.

I think the thing that has me the most excited about the switch 2 is that powerwise the gaming industry has kinda reached a ceiling. At this point games that are considered next gen PS5 titles are still releasing on the ps4. So if the switch succesor is power wise as strong as the ps4 it wouldn't really be an issue cause graphics have reached a point where it's moreso deminishing returns if anything. So having a system that's still capable of getting impressive titles while also still being portable from Nintendo is really cool to think about. Not to mention it not stressing about being as powerful as a ps5 would make it cheaper too.

I'm still team 2024 though I won't count out 2025 since Nintendo did want to release the 3DS in late 2010 and they did want to release the Switch in late 2016.

Hope you don’t delete this video and backtrack when Nintendo inevitably releases the successor to the Nintendo switch.

T&D, I have a few things to say to you. You know I'm with Demeech where I do believe the Switch 2 will launch in 2025. I suspect we'll get a reveal later in the year, then a big presentation going over everything in January, and followed by a release in Spring next year. I feel like you're overlooking this, the president has came out and said there's more coming this year besides what has been revealed. And they plan on releasing games for the Switch into 2025. I get that you want to move on. I think we can last one more year with this console. This isn't the old consoles usually last five years before the new system comes out. Consoles have been lasting longer. The Xbox 360 lasted for eight years, the PS3, PS4, and Xbox One all lasted for seven years. The DS lasted for seven years. The 3DS lasted for eight years. Consoles are lasting longer. And I'm all for a console having a longer than average lifespan. The amount of content the Switch has gotten is unprecedented and the fact it's still getting a consistent output of games from both first and third parties is insane. We've assumed the Switch was on the way out after stuff like the Farm Direct and the February 2023 Direct. There was also the fact Nintendo wasn't attending E3 that year before it cancelled. But they surprised us in a big way with the June Direct. It's like I say when it comes to Nintendo, to expect the unexpected. I'm pretty content with the Switch, and anything else that hits it is a bonus in my eyes. I'd love to see them close out the year with a big new Donkey Kong game. I hope it's in 3D and it's the game rumored to be made by the team behind Odyssey. I think ending off the system with a huge 3D Donkey Kong would be huge. Plus, I want to see an original Donkey Kong game developed with the Switch's hardware in mind. I also would like one more Mario Party game, either a sequel to Superstars with a focus on the GameCube games, or a proper original followup to the Hudson Soft games. And Demeech has gotten me into Rhythm Heaven, and I'd love a Switch entry because Fever is going for $200 on eBay. And I want to educate you when it comes to the final year of a Nintendo system. It's usually pretty bleak. For the Nintendo 64, the big games were Paper Mario, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Mario Party 3. For the GameCube, the only game of any significance was Twilight Princess. But besides that, pretty much nothing from both first and third parties. And after Twilight Princess came out, Nintendo discontinued the GameCube and there were no games made for it after 2007. And the Wii basically died in 2011 with Skyward Sword being the system's final huge game. And 2016 for the Wii U was miserable. 2019 for the 3DS was remakes of Mario & Luigi and Kirby, and that was it. Yes, Princess Peach: Showtime is the only new game we know about, but it won't be for long. There's also the matter of Metroid Prime 4. If we'll see it show up this year. We're likely going to see a Direct within the next week, or two. I know you want a more powerful system. I do as well, to see what next gen Nintendo games will look like on more powerful hardware. But I'm seeing how the race for prettier visuals is hurting the industry at large. When it comes to exclusives, Sony and Microsoft's systems are barren. If you compare the library of the PS5 to the PS4, it's embarrassing how lacking the PS5 is when it comes to first party games. And when it comes to Microsoft, all of these acquisitions, and they STILL can't get games out in a consistent manner. You agree with me, how boring the ninth generation feels. There's not much in the way of true innovation and creativity aside from Nintendo. You'd think with these powerful consoles, we'd get some groundbreaking experiences, but no, it's basically prettier looking PS4 and Xbox One games that are taking far longer to come out. I want more power, but I don't want that to come at the expense of getting less games. We saw how bad Nintendo fumbled the ball with the Wii U when it came to releasing first party games consistently. Why are Sony and Microsoft struggling so much to put out consistent games? I know you're not asking for 8K 240FPS, or even 120FPS. But this is a hot take of mine, but I'm fine with 30FPS as long as it's a stable and the experience isn't too choppy. 60FPS is better, and I do prefer it, but I'm fine with 30FPS as long as the game is properly optimized. I do think we'll see more 60FPS games, but I don't think 30FPS is going away, especially when games on the far more powerful consoles still run at 30FPS. I'm fine with the Switch 2 being on the level of the PS4 because PS4 games look quite stunning. I also want TTYD to sell well. I know it won't be a Bowser's Inside Story situation, but when a new console is revealed, nobody gives a shit about the current/old hardware anymore. The Wii U's reveal effectively killed any and all interest in the Wii. Skyward Sword sold miserably compared to Twilight Princess. I want this remake of TTYD to be a success, and want it to outsell Sticker Star and the Origami King, even though I really like the latter, it can't compare to the first two games, and that's the direction I want the series to return to. And in 2016, I think the only Wii U game that sold anything was Twilight Princess HD. Star Fox Zero had the worst sales in series history, and Color Splash was a massive failure. And pretty much for all 3DS games after the Switch released, except for Ultra Sun and Moon flopped. People were telling Nintendo to stop making 3DS games in 2018. Nintendo tends to forget about the old hardware when the new system comes out. There's exceptions like the DS with Kirby Mass Attack and Pokemon Black & White 2. But most of the time, when Nintendo releases a new system, they drop pretty much all support aside from a couple smaller games. They released nothing on the GameCube after Twilight Princess and the release of the Wii. The last first party Wii game to release was in 2013 and it was a niche JRPG called Pandora's Tower that was localized and came out everywhere else in 2011 and 2012 and it was thanks to a fan campaign that it even came out in the US at all. And the games the Wii got were pretty much Skylanders, a few LEGO games, and Just Dance after 2012. Just Dance kept getting new entries because the Wii versions were the most successful, it even outlived the Wii U. Comment over!
