I don't know if we can say that Steve is an "indie game character" when he's owned by Microsoft. (Don't get me wrong, minecraft started as indie, but I wouldn't consider it an indie game anymore)

There’s actually a special version of Cloud’s smash attack. If you use his advent children costume his Omnislash changes to the one at the end of the movie, where he uses all of the swords.

Yeah, that version is dubbed 'Omnislash Version 5'. Can only be done with the Fusion Swords.

The character analysis videos from Sakurai also go a little more in depth on how the final smashes work and the references. Both Ryu and Ken have 2 because of how close they are to an opponent, if nobody is around then it’s a giant a.o.e. attack but if they’re right next to someone then they have the flashy, more cinematic final smash.

As a Kirby fan, let me explain Dedede's Final Smash. There was a game called Kirby Super Star which included a mini adventure called Spring Breeze. Which was a remake of the very first Kirby game. Which had an Extra Mode. (A much harder version of the game) Then, there was a DS remake of Super Star called Super Star Ultra, which includes a remake of that Extra Mode called Revenge of the King. In that mode, Dedede dawns the same mask as in Smash Brothers and takes on Kirby in a Hammer duel. And that ring is a more hardcore version of his more normal ring found in Spring Breeze where he fights Kirby while many Kirby enemies watch.

there's a mode/setting called Smash Meter where you have to deal damage to fill a bar to gain a final smash. So you get final smashes but it requires more effort and skill.

Well, since i didn`t find it, here is an explanation for Banjo & Kazooies final smash. Over the course of the game you save little colorful bird-like creatures called Jinjos. When you fight the final boss, she hides eventually behind an energy shield and you have to free the Jinjos from statues to damage her. The big blue one, the Jinjonator, then deals the final blow. I recommend looking up the fight, cause Rare did an amazing job making it hard, but satisfying.

Those bars you see in some FE supers and indeed health bars, or at least how they were pre 3 Houses (I think they still reference it in smaller ways tho). The idea is basically the characters are landing critical hits, in fact that’s the name of the specials that use them, so it’s like the health bars are instantly depleting any poor foot soldier it hits, or in this case the fighters. It’s a fun touch.😅

Pretty accurate too, considering how devastating crits in that series are when they land X3 damage was a blessing and a curse

It was actually pretty common in most of the movies where the featured pokemon would talk human speech with Ash and Co. through telepathic abilities.

You should watch Aaronitmar's videos explaining the origins of every final smash and alternate costumes.

Giga Bowser is technically a Smash original form of Bowser. However, he is based off of how Masahiro Sakurai envisioned Bowser to look like in the original Super Mario Bros., when the sprites could allow for more imagination

Giga Bowser comes from Super Smash Bros. Melee. The cage and mask for Dedede is a reference to his and Kirby’s last serious fight before Dedede’s full transition to anti-hero, in “Revenge of the King”.

My favorite final smash of the dlc is Joker's because if you kill with your opponent, it stays on the screen like in Persona 5.

I like playing crackhead characters like Pichu and Roy, but as far as personalities go Marth has to be one of my picks Nintendo did a really good job at humanising him for the remake of his game

A lot of these Final Smash videos don't display the attacks properly or don't know how they function. Some need to be far away from the opponent to actually see what they are doing such as Link's and some require input such as Ice Climbers or Super Sonic. Others have a different function if the opponent is at 100% or higher damage and a few have special interactions depending on who they use it on. Then you have characters that have more than 1 Final Smash. There are other smaller details like Cloud using his Final while wearing his Advent Children costume, Dark Samus having a tentacle out during her's or Samas's ship crashing after Ridley's.

I got so upset when my friends had final smashes off for some reason. I've ALWAYS played with Final Smashes and it's part of the game! That would be like Mortal Kombat with no fatal blows or fatalities or brutalities! Cool and cinematic ultimate moves are the MAIN reason a lot of people play fighting games! They're the coolest part!

That's an interesting way to look at it! Me and my friends ended up turning them off because we didn't like how it devolved into just running around to pop the Smash Orb and items in general were a bit too chaotic with so many people. Might feel different with the Smash meter now though

@@ChocolateKieranthere’s now a special “Rule” You can apply that grants a Final Smash to players as they deal and take damage. So if You’re in a tight spot, if You hold out, You’ll be able to use Your power but Your opponent will be building their bar too so You better choose quick! Also, You can’t hold Your Final Smash forever as it Will Fade Away if You take too long to use it.

The two FS' for the Street Fighter characters depend on how far from the enemy you are. Fun Fact: If you look at the animation for Ken's closeup FS, you see him raise his hand slightly before he attacks. This is a reference to the infamous EVO moment 37, where Daigo parried a 15-hit attack before killing his opponent.

If you want to play with Final Smashes but don't want to turn any items on, there's a setting to have a Final Smash Meter. It basically gives Smash a meter like fighting games, and when it's full you can activate a weaker version of your Final Smash.

"Did Lucario just say human words?!" Yep, that one is roughly based on the one in the 8th movie including having the same voice actor. Who, by the way, is also the voice of Goku, which is highly intentional. Why is Kazuya a demon? Specifically he's a devil. He has the Devil Gene which is why his father keeps trying to kill him. Yes you absolutely should play with Final Smashes on they're great! "Is that actual Cuphead original one?" Nope that's just the Mii Gunner one. You didn't know Banjo was in this game? There's your idea--watch all the character reveals! Where's the DQ11 hero? He's one of the playable characters. Ooh the Terry one brings up another idea for a video--watch the King of Fighters XV fandub mod footage from Studio Still. It's REALLY good (though full disclosure I'm part of it I play Darli of Team Samurai). Fun fact about Captain Falcon's FS, they actually recorded his line for it before FSes were a thing. They were slated to appear earlier in the series but were scrapped until Brawl. Min-Min's reveal trailer was the first time Falcon's voice actor had been called back to the booth for the role in decades. Why is Incineroar beating up Greninja? Because the Pokémon roster doesn't have an actual villain (Mewtwo is game version rather than movie so it isn't a villain) so you gotta pick someone. Yeah, K.Rool's FS always uses the same image. Duck Hunt's is a cheeky way of getting around censorship. For legal reasons, all the bullets are hitting the cans, and the *cans* are hitting the characters. Yeah, Protoman and Bass were added to Mega Man's FS in Ultimate. "I don't think Jigglypuff actually has that sort of ability" Jigglypuff is the "balloon Pokémon" and has always been said to be able to inflate. Though yeah I think that's the biggest we've ever seen. In one of the manga there's one that gets maybe three times normal size to float, but not THIS big. The strange figure on the Ice Climbers FS is a polar bear in shorts. Falco's is totally different from Fox's...they have different dialogue...! "The Fire Emblem ones are all very similar" aaaand you hit on why people hate the FE rep in this game even though Mario and Pokémon have more characters. Those series switch it up and make the characters feel unique (for the most part) but FE's roster is similar. Ike's FS is basically just Cloud's Omnislash but before Cloud was in the game, so Cloud's trailer had him beating up Ike with it. "PK Star-what?" Star Storm! It's actually the move of a different character in the game but for Smash lore it's said she taught it to him. Greninja and Meta Knight have effectively the same FS and it's inspired by a different game entirely. Aaaand I can't remember the name of the character that does it (I think it's Strider Hiryu) but the move is called Ragnarok. "Do you summon Chrom?" Yep and it doesn't change if you're playing AGAINST Chrom either. Bowser Jr's FS is a Sunshine reference but the problem is that it doesn't make any sense for his alts to be able to use that. That's only ever been unique to him, but his alts are the seven Koopalings, and they really should have something different. Yep, Ryu and Ken have two final smashes depending on input! Ken's reveal trailer had a fun FGC reference but I won't spoil it haha. After Ridley's FS blows up Samus's ship, you can see it crash in the background of the stage Simon and Richter are "just humans" but they know spells and stuff. Their final smash is essentially using the power of The Lord to smite their enemies! Also I main Simon, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager

So, both Simon, and Richter reference the Item Crash mechanic from Rondo of Blood, Dracula X, and Symphony of the Night with their Final Smashes.

Dedede's cage match thing is a weied part of his character. He's a BIG attention hog and most of his fights take place in wrestling rings where he uses a hammer. You can usually tell if he's being controlled or forced the fight if its not in a ring, or if he gives up his hammer.

Little Mac's FS is Giga Mac. It's a powerful transformation from Punch Out Wii in the multiplayer mode that either player could trigger upon filling up a meter. The bars that appeared for Marth, Lucina and Roy are HP bars from their games with their FS literally just their crit animations and the bars simulating the damage drop to 0 like standard rpgs. Robin tag teams with Chrom to simulate the "Pair Up" mechanic from their game letting two units work together for offensive and defensive buffs. And Ness and Lucas have PK Starstorm, one of the strongest, if not the sttongest attacks from the Mother games and they call in their allies because they're not the ones who actually learns it in-game.

I like the fact that Cloud's Final Smash changes between og and Advent Children costume for a different Omnislash, the AC does the scene when he defeats Sephiroth with that

Fox and Falcons are actually different Falco does fancy spinning Maneuvers because he is supposed to be like The Confident one

Little Mac actually has a "second" Final Smash in the form of KO Punch, his unique move. His KO Punch is built through dealing damage or taking damage. Once it's full, it will replace Little Mac's neutral special and usually anyone at 20% will be instantaneously KO'ed in one single hit.

The bars that pop up on Roy and Marth's final smashes are the enemy's "Health" as it drains to zero.

For the megaman one most of them are megaman from different series but the two in the back are protoman and bass who are from the original series you can play as them in some of the games of the series.

8:18 That's for anyone but if you haven't played Donkey Kong64 bro you are missing out, now that was a fun game back in the day. 13:25 That's the opponent's health bar, in Fire Emblem the bar dropping like it did meant your character landed a critical hit that was hard enough to KO the enemy unit without them being able to counterattack 20:00 it's a reference to Super Mario Sunshine, spoilers for anyone that hasn't played this oldie but goldie. Bowser Jr. is the main antagonist of the game and he uses a paintbrush that can damage the player with the paint that comes from it, with him at the beginning being the Shadow Mario that frames and antagonizes Mario throughout Sunshine on Isle Delfino 21:30 That's Grand Cross, one of his stuff from Castlevania

You can turn on the final smash meter when you make a game

If you use the final smash for joker at last stock and get someone with it if they are at 100 or above that will be the win screen like from the game it’s so cool

I came back to add a few bits of facts: So uh, about Olimar's final smash, ima bout to talk a lot about Pikmin. So.. the whole story about Pikmin has to do with Olimar as basically he is the reoccurring character of the main series. Anyways the first game "Pikmin" the story for that is Olimar crashes on an unknown planet(basically Post-apocalyptic earth) and he has to escape in 30 days since his oxygen will run out and he dies, also Olimar seems to be a charm for bad luck, anyways he thought he had lost hope until he found these little plant-like creatures which he calls "Pikmin" and willingly, the Pikmin help him, now the final smash I believe is basically when you have to go back to your ship when night falls because the predators will come out and eat the Pikmin, the crashing might be due to Olimar's bad luck.(poor guy hasn't seen his wife and children in a long time.) Now Pikmin 2 is the sequel to Pikmin, in Pikmin 2 Olimar returns back to his home planet only to find out the company he works for has gone bankrupt because "someone" ate all of the golden carrots. Anyways, he has to go back to the same planet in the first game to find treasures(or every day items like a duracell battery.) Anyways you meet two new characters, The first being the "President" who is Olimar's boss and Louie who well, is another worker. Louie in this series is the main troublemaker in the whole series also he seems to have some great cooking recipes for all of the enemies in Pikmin.(Which if you read the pikolopedia, Louie talks about how to cook the enemies, definitely not a ravenous child.) Now Pikmin 3 is little different you have a new set of characters being uh, Alph(which is one of Olimar's alts in smash), Brittany(a botanist) and Charlie(a man who likes his rubber duck), these characters come from another planet and their problem is to collect fruit due to their planet having a food crisis. Now, Pikmin 4 is an alternate universe to the first game as you are sent to rescue the rescue corps and save Olimar, you also meet a space dog Oatchi. Also Olimar has a dog named Moss in this one although he has one named Bulby at his home planet, Now that is all of the Pikmin lore soooooo.... Also Kirby lore is one deep rabbit hole you may not want to go down unless you want to read it. Which in the future I make make two FnF mods about Pikmin and the other one being a 100% Kirby lore accurate mod.

Banjo & Kazooie's Final Smash is called "The Jinjo-nator". The origin behind this is that in the duo's final boss battle versus Gruntilda in their first game, the Jinjo-nator is a relic summoned by mystical creatures known as Jinjos, who were trapped by Gruntilda in her lair. Banjo and Kazooie rescued all of them during their adventure and the Jinjos repaid their heroism by summoning "The Jinjo-nator" to pummel Gruntilda off the top of her lair to her doom.

Honestly, almost all the Pokemon in Smash are inspired by the Pokemon anime (Pikachu, Greninja and Charizard all seem loosely based on Ash's (you didn't notice it, but Greninja even becomes Ash-Greninja during its final smash, something they added to Ultimate, and wasn't in Smash 4), Jigglypuff and Pichu the wild ones that showed up a few times in the earlier seasons, and Lucario and Mewtwo are blatantly meant to be the ones from the respective movies, seeing as they can both talk, something only the movie Lucario has ever been shown to do among all the Lucario that have shown up in the anime). Mewtwo in the Japanese dub of Smash also talks, and references lines he said in the Japanese dub of the first movie, while Lucario as you see talks here like he did in the movie he was in the staring role of, as of Smash 4, they even got the voice actor for Lucario from that movie to voice him (Sean Schemmel, who also voices Goku btw). I would even argue that Pokemon Trainer himself is funny enough the most game focused one among the Pokemon cast, since he focuses around team building and switching for the right situation mechanics you'd see in a proper Pokemon game. Also a fun fact for Pit, he's had a different final smash in every single Smash Bros game he's been in so far.

I mostly just wanted to see this cuz Bayonetta is in it lol. She’s my smash main, but I’m also biased cuz it’s my fav game series of all time. I’d love to see you play it. It’s very fun and I can’t recommend it enough! If you’ve ever played Devil May Cry it’s basically the same thing, both series were made by Hideki Kamiya. They have a LOT of similarities.

That's why.

So in case someone hasn't done it yet in this comment section, here's the reference of most Final Smashes from the 64 OGs: Mario has an original FS, but the community mostly relates it to Ultra Flame, an attack Mario can use in Super Mario RPG. Donkey Kong uses a barrage of punches similar to when he finishes off a boss in DK Jungle Beat, that's why also the bongos can be heard while the punches happen. (Dark) Samus is an original too, but just like Mario's, many fans relate it to something she can use in the Metroid Prime series. Yoshi isn't really a reference to the Lion King, but rather to a part of the intro of Melee. Kirby uses the Ultra Sword ability from Kirby Return to Dreamland. Fox, Falco, and Wolf are originals, just references to the Star Fox games. While Fox and Falco look similar, in Falco, he spins while shooting, and after the crew exits the explosion, the camera focused on Falco, contrary to Fox where they all shoot normally and the cam zooms out instead of focusing on just one kf the pilots. Luigi is original-ish, just referencing the Poltergust (something-something) from Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon/2. Ness and Lucas have basically the same ones, both being PK Starstorm, and funny enough, neither Ness nor Lucas can learn that attack, but rather one of their party members in Earthbound (Ness) and Mother 3 (Lucas). Captain Falcon is just him running over the fighter with his Blue Falcon on a F-Zero track (not sure if it's a specific one or just a straight road). And finally Jigglypuff is just a reference to her Pokedex entry, which calls her the "Balloon Pokemon", so that's why she inflates and does... that. Okay...I can't take the time to explain EVERYTHING cause some of them I'm not the biggest expert on but I've been playing Castlevania for YEARS. So hold on to your butt it's gonna be a long thing but the TL:DR is the crosses he makes are made of holy energy and that he's riffing Richter's move since game wise Grand Cross was first used by Richter who introduced Item Crashes to Castlevania game mechanics wise. Simon is a character that has a few of Richter's moves as Simon is the EARLIEST Belmont game wise...Castlevania 1 on NES so he didn't have a lot of movement options, so his dash attack, up B, and slide into jumping slide kick all came from Richter from his Symphony of the Night playable version. Richter in Rondo of Blood/Dracula X (in the US) introduced the concept of "Item Crash" to Castlevania...Sub-Weapons...the throwing axe, boomerang cross, throwing dagger, stop watch, and holy water have been in many of the games over the years, Richter kicked it up a notch by allowing a super powerful move by using more hearts. The one here is a more cinematic version of the Cross sub-weapon's Item Crash called "Grand Cross" those crosses of light are made of pure holy energy. The energy crosses are actually a rather recent take on it over the years. At first it was crucifixes that shot up from the bottom to the top of the screen, in Dracula X it was a bunch of the throwing crosses bouncing around the screen, Symphony of the Night introduced a pillar of light with crucifixes rotating around the outside of the pillar....later a giant cross of holy energy was introduced by Julias Belmont in Aria of Sorrow and it's become a stable of the series now for Belmonts to be able to make this holy energy cross...sometimes a bunch of little ones, and sometimes a big one, Richter in later DS games could make one big one with smaller ones rotating around it. Also the whip they use is based on the Combat Cross from the Lords of Shadow version of Castlevania when they tried to reboot the series...the reboot may not have gone over so well BUT the Combat Cross version of the whip is actually used retroactively in the Pachinko games as having been used by the Belmonts The pachinko machines aren't exactly well liked by fans like myself if for no other reason than we'd rather have a new Castlevania game with the classic Belmonts we know rather than a reboot of the franchise, though I DO like the Combat Cross idea and enjoy it design wise. It's kinda like how Metal Gear fans feel about the MGS: Snake Eater pachinko machine reveal....they THOUGHT they were getting an HD remake but instead it was a pachinko game....they are FINALLY getting that HD revamp they've been wanting while us Castlevania fans are still waiting.

Mr Game an Watch’s Final smash is a reference his original games on the Game and Watch and on of the games is to get the treasure underwater without getting captured by a octopus and getting a game over and the octopus that Mr. Game and Watch turns into is from that game King Dedede’s Final Smash is a reference from a Kirby game called Kirby’s Super Star Ultra on the DS and the reason he has a mask and is in a cage is because in Kirby Super Star Ultra there is a game mode called King Dedede’s Revenge and in the game mode King Dedede fights Kirby with a more stronger hammer that can fire rockets, and the mask is there too and during the fight you get trapped in a electric cage so yeah!

@@ChocolateKieran marvel vs Capcom has been and continues to be one of my favorite video game franchises of all time, helped by the fact that when i got my ps2 for Christmas 2008 it came with arguably the best game in the series marvel vs Capcom 2: new age of Heroes, but don't let the subtitle mislead you, the game has the villains too, and some characters that aren't in the main marvel movies and probably never will be like shuma-gorath, spiral, and silver samurai, alongside characters that are likely to eventually show up in the main marvel movies, like the x-men, doctor doom, magneto juggernaut and one of my personal favorite characters to play as in the series, deadpool. By the way the street fighter characters have been made more powerful in these games than normal, although i won't spoil how they accomplished that. If you have a playstation xbox or steam you can actually play some of the series for yourself, because both ultimate marvel vs Capcom 3 and marvel vs Capcom infinite are available on xbox one, xbox series S/X, PS4 PS5 and steam.

Yup! I literally forgot Smash Meter was a thing until somebody mentioned in comment, just so used to doing no items and no final smashes that I forgot they introduced it in Ultimate

Answers to your questions and other information: Kazuha is a demon because his mother was a demon (which his father didn’t know when he got her pregnant). Sephiroth’s final smash gives a random effect. So it can do things like: put them to sleep, daze them, reverse their controls, etc. Joker’s ultimate will install you if your damage is high enough. BOTW Link’s is him shooting an Ancient Arrow, which is fitting as it’s his strongest attack in that game (more or less). Kirby’s is using the Mega Copy ability “Master Sword” from (my personal favorite Kirby game) “Kirby’s Return to Dream Land”. King K. Rool places any enemies in DK’s House. Inklings can move the ultimate’s aim by jumping or crouching. Simon and Richter are humans with Holy power. That’s why they have “Red Cross”.

Funny enough they didn't add the other Cloud FS where he uses the Advent Children Omni Slash. Funny enough there is a rule you can set up to have a meter people charge as the fight goes on to use a final smash so you can technically have final smashes with no items

imo best Kirby lore has to offer, play AND FINISH Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's Return to Dream Land (the Switch version adds a back story to the main antagonist), and maybe Kirby's Super Star (I personally haven't played this one yet but I know it's where Marx is from as well as supposedly some Meta Knight lore as well).

I'd argue that super sonic could beat kirby but that's just my opinion

Some are still cool, but it sucks that Final Smashes got watered down so badly. DK may not have had the best before, but at least it was HIS and not a worse Little Mac Final Smash like it is now. Some got cooler, like Sheik and Falco (because he prefers the air), then you have ones that are super underwhelming like Link's and Sonic's. Super Sonic in this game rarely kills ANYTHING. Its that bad lol.
