for me it's just inevitable that there are some I don't like; rare exceptions for me include Obscura's Cosmogenesis, Hideous Divinity's Obesiance Rising and Sodom's Decision Day.

white zombie Well then you think wrong. This bridges the gap between the brutal death metal staple of the genre and the technical stuff we're accustomed to today. The riffage on this album is badass and Tony Laureano doesn't get enough credit - his blasts are awesome!

I love ads in the middle of death metal songs, please interrupt more songs more often, particularly for products no Nile fan would piss on when on fire.

The best Nile album imo. Laureano's drum work is so unique and great on this. Plus the songwriting, solos,riffs,bass arrangements are something special. I love all their albums. But this is my #1 by Nile.

Sarcophagus and Unas are probably two of my all time favorite Nile songs. When they did their 20th Anniversary tour they played them back to back. EPIC!!!!

Phenomenal album! Surely Nile's most complete work in technical terms and one of my favorite albums by the band alongside their classic debut album, Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka. Masterpiece!

My favorite Nile album. Remember when it came out. Blew my damn mind. This helped me become a better and faster drummer.

This is absolute insane drumming absolute insane riffing reaping scales off the charts tempo changing brutality with technical prowess on ancient Egyptian lullabies.

The virtuosity of these guys, absolutely insane!

This has always been my favorite Nile record. It was my intro to them, I had never heard of them before but the album cover caught my eye and just bought it based on that. I was completely blown away by the musicianship. Tony’s drumming is absolutely insane on this record,

i still remember when this album was released. I was fucking mindblown. I thought they will never be able to top "Black Seeds of Vengeance" and yet here we are.

The best Nile album. I will take the first three over any of the others any day. The riffs and arrangements more memorable (modern Nile sounds like endless scale runs to me), and, above all, the engineering and performances more natural, less quantized and picked apart, note-by-note.

they don't make em like this anymore....a gem of it's time that won't ever be reproduced in such a way. As some of the few that know about and can find joy in this, we should consider ourselves lucky. I bought this just when it came out. It took many many listens to learn to appreciate it as it is not a easy listening experience by any means. Over the years I went on many a musical journey but I always come back to this album and am hammered down by it's awesomeness each time I listen to it once again. Maybe the best death metal album of all time.

Vengeance, Shrines and Annihilation are the three greatest death metal albums ever written.

Since I more or less started with Black Metal (after more normal rock, metal and soundtracks of course), which is way more primitive, this was basically a vacation of technical sophistication for me. Not to show off, because this was not so fun. But I still find this rather aesthetically polished, compared to other of their albums and also on its own (even the cover gives off that smooth "designed" vibe).

This album probably features my most favorite drumming, in anything.

This is one of the finest albums of Egyptian Metal ever recorded.

I think that statement is a bit of a discervis to Nile, it's not like there is a plethora of " Egyptian metal" acts out there, this is great death metal period.

This album introduced me to truly technical metal

Amongts and Shrines = two of my most favorite Nile records

This is one of those records where, if I put it on I'm gonna stop doing whatever I'm doing and listen to it cover to cover.. absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word..Hailz Nile \m/

Churning The Maelstorm is like a jazz trip into meth crystal. Still in 2020 I´ve never listen to nothing close to similar in death metal, maybe some Origin songs but still by far that Nile song is top notch brutal madness.

There's something awesome about the drums on every Nile record. Even when they can sound better, it's still 100% right for the tone of the record. Love that shit.

I remember when this came out..jamming at my friends house , high as hell and we listened to it at least 5 times to take in this masterpiece in DM history.

This album really got me to open up my mind at a crucial time in life. I heard unas slayer of the gods and bought instantly when it was released

In every genre there comes an album that helps give it a breath of fresh air This is that album in the field of Death Metal.. Morbid Angel Nile Cannibal Corpse Deicide Have been great pillars in the Death Metal genre..

Invocation to seditious heresy is beyond belief , just pure atmosphere and power it's one of the best of theirs. First few albums are beyond belief.

One of my favorite albums by NILE! Got to see them perform 2 weeks ago and they played Sarcophagus! 2 years ago I got to see them perform Unas the Slayer of the Gods and THAT was epic as hell.

All Nile album is amazing, cause their sound is original. I always only listen to original and not copycat band. This also why I admire Death aka Chuck.

Every Nile album is a banger

This album is so noisy and atmospheric, it's really great. Their later albums sound more musical but I actually prefer this sound.

I’m finishing my first listen, and I already found a copy on vinyl I’ll try to get haha, this is incredible. Having a full Nile vinyl collection is a goal for me, but god it’s so expensive to acquire all of them! They’re one of my favorite live bands, I gotta see them again.

i love that album...also i apprecciate very much the recording and mixing the drums, its very real, its beatiful...it looks to stay in a studio close to the drum set....TONY LAUREANO TE AMO….on the tracks Sarcophagus...he played with feel,dynamics, taste….thank you NIle...probably the best work...only my opinion...obviously

Best Death Metal album of all time.

Really nice of Relapse Records to put this out for us. I ofcourse allready own the CD but it's really convenient to have it on youtube if you want to play the record at work or whatever. Also the sound is really high quality. I don't think I've ever heard a rip on KZread where the sound-quality is so high. I have a quite competent hifi-system at home and it sounds really amazing. Totally comparable to the CD. Relapse did you rip this from the master or what? :D

I think it's time we officially identify death metal drummers as a different breed of human.

I remember hearing in an interview with Karl that the band apparently got a lot of hate for this album when it first came out. How? The atmosphere and musicianship on these songs are untouchable. So many awesome songs. Unaas, Slayer of The Gods, Wind of Horus, etc.

Such a fucking great album. This is definitely going down as a solid gold oldie. Music I will show to my grandkids. Unas will be my "well kids, back in my day" song.

When I think back it was Slipknot's Iowa that was the gateway album for me to get into extreme metal, i remember I got a compilation album with some magazine and it had decapitated Babylon's pride and Nile winds of Horus on it, man it was amazing...if anyone is familiar with Babylon's pride it was the riff midway through the song when the death vocals kick in, holy shit i never heard anything so crushing. But yes this is one of the best death metal releases of all time, one of the best metal releases period.

I still have a t-shirt with cover on the front and "in their darkened shrines" printed on the back. that shirt is almost 20 years old and I still wear it!

My second favorite album by NILE! Absolutely perfect from start to finish 🖤 and it's also one of those albums that needs to be listened in its entirety, imo.

I like listening to this in 2 parts. Stop after wind of horus then listen to part 2 the next day.
