@@onlyfacts3178 There is a misconception, this was the first of 2 games against North Carolina, in the first game (this one) Galis scored 24 points, in the second game which was played in Athens, Greece, Galis scored (according to what source) either 50-55 points but Jordan did not play in that game. People overlapped the 2 games together, making it seem like Galis scored 50 points on Jordan.

If this were soccer, Galis would have won Ballon D'Ors and the Euro or World Cup. He's up there with Messi and Ronaldo. It's really hard to tell how good he would have been if he had anyone at his level in Europe. No one pushed him the way that Ronaldo pushed Messi or Nadal pushed Federer or Djokovic pushed the other two and vice versa. When you're running the 100m in 9.5 seconds, you need someone running it at 9.45 to push you to reach that next level. But still he played at a level that no one else has matched over the past 30 years including 2 great players like Dirk Nowitzki and Giannis Antetonkounmpo.

Dražen Petrović returned after the game against Poland with the team with airplane to Frankfurt. There he should catch the the connection flight to Zagreb with his teammates. Last minute he changed his mind and decided to drive with car a golf ii with two females basketball players, one from Hungary and one from Turkey, southward to Croatia. On the German Autobahn he fell asleep sitting on the passenger side not wearing a seatbelt while the car crashed in a standing truck after a hill during heavy rain... His teammates were above him in the sky in the airplane and Dino Rađa felt a shaking of the plane while this happened... The Hungarian girlfriend who drove the car is now married to Oliver Bierhoff. Dražen got a blanko cheque of Panathinaikos from Vardinogiannis, and it was estimated that Dražen would earn 10 million dollars a year, an amount that no NBA team could compete with... It was confirmed that he was on the way to play in Greece. Afterwards Dino Rađa and Dominique Wilkins played for Panathinaikos Athens.

Surely, JORDAN IS FAR BETTER THAN HIM! So comparing a mediocre "so called basketball god" by greeks is the blasphemy. He didn't play in the NBA, only at the sub-par league (Euroleague or whatsoever league in Europe) while Jordan played in the league whereas during HIS/THEIR time, is the mount Everest of basketball. Please don't consider today's standard, because world is catching up with the NBA, but during their time, NBA is the epitome of basketball. HE DIDN'T COME TO NBA, ONLY DRAZEN. Drazen proved himself that he can compete with the highest level of competition, even higher than the FIBA and Olympics during their time, for the reason that NBA players are not allowed, and that speaks alot about NBA qualities. Stop dreaming man, NEVER COMPARE THE REAL GOAT to someone which even Isiah Thomas would beat their ass, any day, all day.

@@jeremiahdanielsamuel2505 You must definitely be from the USA to make such a statement. Only someone that is so misinformed could say so many inaccuracies. People in USA have the perception that scoring in Europe was easy.....First of all I will just state some facts that are undisputed and that is that game in Europe are 40min and the duration of the offense was 30sec so the number of possesions was significantly smaller. On top of that the 3p line was in 6,25m and not in 7,25m like in the NBA so there was much lesser space in which to operate in between and the mid range and near the basket area was really packed (hold that because I will give you an example later to understand how packed it was). Now if you think that the 3p line being closer than in NBA contributed to Galis' scoring because of the distance well think again because Galis almost never shot the 3 but thrived in the mid range and near the rim so it was to his disadvantage because he had lesser space to operate. To underastand now that it was really packed and difficult in Europe I will give you an example. Galis at age 37 played for PAO and averaged in Euroleague with 24ppg with 60%FG(like he did HIS ENTIRE CAREER) and at the same time he was no1 in assists in the league. Now if you think that this is nothing because it is Euroleague well think again. Two years later one of the best NBA scorers of his era named Dominique Wilkins came at age 36 to play for PAO as well. Do you know what he averaged? 18ppg on a 45% FG. Dominique also didn't shoot the 3p that much and found very very hard to put big numbers in the packed rim of Europe. And I understand in his first season he might have had adaptation issues, but in the second season in Euroleague he scored even less. So to sum up a freakish athlete and great scorer like Dominique couldn't put Galis' numbers in the slowpaced and packed basketball in Europe and he was by a mile far in terms of efficeincy as he was 45% FG and Galis was 60% FOR HIS ENTIRE CAREER...... Ah and don't forget! Galis was just 1.83m while Dominique was 2.03m.

How tall was he again...playing against more athletic guards than the ones he played with, with less spacing than Euro. He would have had to play PG in the NBA, there are no 6ft SG, he would be getting his shot blocked by bigger longe, more athletic SGs. The best thing for him is that there were less of them during the Bird and Magic times, but after '85 and up there were more coming to the NBA. I bet Joe Dumars could put some D on him.

@Cop Anders Europe always had hardened players, they had young guys playing in leagues wit dudes their dads age for the longest. That’s why they used to win the 60’s, 70’s and a little in the 80s. As the NBA started transitioning to more athletic athletes, especially opening the door more more inner city ballers. Europes grown vs the youngin’s had to stop, Stern do what needed to be done to curb it. Nowadays players are missing that “fire” players had in the early 2000’s and earlier. I hope they get it back, no one plays defense consistently these days, even Kawhi sits out lmao, Paul George used to have it, but the fire is gone, likely due to injuries, but everyone else can use that as an excuse.

@@c1979h You can't block Galis - he ran into 5 players and let them jump around him. It didn't matter who they were, how tall, or how many there were. He had unlimited options in the air which is why, again, he ran right into every one every time. The man was a one-man army. It was very demoralizing for the other team because they'd jump but it's meaningless - they may as well have some dignity and not jumped and just watched the shot and clapped.

I have watched for over of 30 years of basketball and I have seen only two players that are totally unguardable one is MJ the other is Galis. Galis was unstoppable, you couldn't do anything to stop him to score. The only thing one wished is not to be in a good day and score 20-29 points. But 90% of the times he would have 35, 45, 50, 30 points and such (in only 40 minutes of play and not 48 as NBA)
