Nikon D3 and Z9 Image Share

Ойын-сауық

With side by side comparisons, it is interesting to see the Nikon D3 still holding its own against its mirrorless rival, the Nikon Z9.
The Z9 Diaries at Claire's School Of Photography seems like a long time ago now! As I reflect on the adventures whilst looking ahead to the up and coming D3 Diaries, I am reminded to always be true to myself and my mission.
I have so many passions from photography and art to motorcycling and spiritual practice. In 2024, you will see more of my other passions as I bring things together, not hiding any part of myself. I hope you will be inspired and uplifted, because that is always my intention.
I hope you enjoy this one in particular, with the energy of Wayne Dyers Real Magic at the heart of it!
Do you feel how this energy can create momentum? With a lightness of spirit, I become productive and thoughtful, inspired and grounded.
Thank you @waynedyer for your incredible words of wisdom.
And to everyone watching, thank you. I appreciate you.

I've found that the camera that feels good in your hands, with a quality lens, can bring joy. I still take my first camera, a Yashica FX-2... out with the lenses I bought in the 70s and 80s. The images are just as good... and the feeling is intensely satisfying. I collect Nikon DSLR cameras to get the same feeling. Although I have a D800, D700, and Z5, I seem to get the most joy from my D7200 and D300. In social media and small size printing, there isn't a noticeable difference. Yet, the ease of shooting and processing makes a big difference. As with anything, it's what you value.

Thanks for your videos, Claire! I am still surprised from time to time when I come across a great looking pic that I think I must have shot on the Z9 with a trinity lens, only to find out I shot it on a D300 or D800 with a wacky lens like my 40 year old 500mm Reflex. It really is about the moment and the camera in hand. I do feel the D3 and D3x give me some special results - and they are just wonderful in hand. But never underestimate a D300 in the right moment either.

Thank you for this, I have to agree! I think the mirrorless system would be more about the silence for me having seen the results of the old dslrs. It is great to see the old cameras still holding up against the new tech 😊🌟

Buy and use whatever makes you happy. Cameras are tools and the creative process comes from the one using the tool. New mirrorless cameras only make the process easier with screens that tilt, massive frames per second, and better autofocus.

The old "everything happens for a reason" half truth is a red flag for me. The true bit is that we can definitely learn from the things that happen. The False bit is the rather nasty implication that people who are victims of accidents, diseases and worse as part of a "plan" to move towards something. It always strikes me as something people say without looking at how unfair it is to victims. I liked the pictures but not the vagueness of the talk. I only used the D3 for a few months and it was a great camera. Potential mage quality from the camera is not the issue it once was. It is still about how the photographer works with the camera and the lens.

Thank you for your thoughts. Everything happens for a reason is a saying that has brought me comfort at difficult times in my life. Not something I use to dismiss other peoples suffering. The word victim is thrown around a lot too... what is your idea of a victim?

It’s a red flag for me which I prefer to reword. It is true that we can learn from the things that happen. If you look at it from a counseling point of view then it is probably better to separate the two implications of the phrase. When a person has encountered a loss or devastating event sometimes it the idea that it may have been either part of a plan or something that was deserved is not helpful. So I prefer not to use the phrase.

What are you doing?? This has nothing to do with photography and the title of the video. This is click bait!!! I have seen your videos about photoigraphy, and they are good. Please do not mislead us. YOU are better than that 🙂

Hello I have just watched it back....perhaps where the title said 'shocking results from experiment' didn't fit so I have taken it out of the title as I am not talking about it in the video. The photography speaks for itself so that is fine. My intention is not to mislead you or anyone. I admit sometimes I just want the video to be seen after spending hours editing it. So much work for so little return makes you do crazy things 🙄😆 Thanks for stopping by!
