Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50 mm 1:1.8G prime lens - IT'S REALLY FINE!

Фильм және анимация

Nikon's AF-S Nikkor 50 mm 1:1.8G prime lens is a really nice lens that I recommend. In this video I review the Nikon's 50 mm prime lens. I give you my opinion on how the lens works, handles and what it's qualities are. I also determine the lens' sweet spot and show example photos taken with the NIKKOR 50 mm 1:1.8G prime lens. I use the Nikon 50 mm 1:1,8 G lens with Nikon D3400.

    I am using a Nikon D3400 and just picked up the 50mm 1.8 prime lens. You have a lot of great points and realistic photos I hope to emulate! Thank you for the insight.

    Hi Tom. Love my Sunday morning photography lesson from Estonia. Always interesting and often a nice surprise. After recent videos about Fuji, mirrorless and post-processing here is DSLR lens. Fantastic. Picked up an older, used Nikon D300s this week at a great price. Loving the feel and handling so far. Too early to judge the images but I have found that imposing restrictions on yourself with the gear is, ironically, very good for creativity. It's like when some tutors tell you to go out shooting and only use a single lens with fixed focal length. You have to be more imaginative. If you have fewer MP's the same concept can be true IMO.

    Hi Cliff! I always enjoy reading your feedback. Thank you! I've also found that restricting yourself to certain limited number of options can be liberating in a way. It helps you focus on the task a little better. I sometimes go out with 2-3 cameras a tripod and a gimbal and come back relatively empty-handed because I wasn't sure if I should photograph birds, film something or do macro photography. If you only carry a macro lens, for example, you just look at the flowers and ground and find wonderful photo ops.

    Hi Tom ..most Nikon lenses are excellent..this one too..is the focus point at F2 sharp ( in focus)? With a Dslr you have sometimes front or back focus issues! It 's now a 75 mm lens ..and i hope it wil work on y X-T30.Many times i think how much better is the Leica summilux 50mm..it's about ten times more expensive! I like y video's..and waitting for the next one😉

    Hi Jan! Good to hear from you. I find F2 plenty sharp, indeed, and I've been very happy with this lens. I'm planning on doing a video on how this lens works with with Fuji X-T30. Although I show it with Nikon D3400 in the video I primarily bought if for my Fuji because Fuji has focus peaking. My experience with combining Nikon lenses and Fuji cameras has been very promising so far. I'll keep experimenting.

    Will it be worth it to buy used $90 but the rubber ring is missing. Does it affect the photo?

  • @tom_photo

    @tom_photo

    Жыл бұрын

    H! Thanks for asking. Typically these lenses run between $70 - 180 used at the moment. I'm seeing one on sale for 75 EUR where I live and it is in a very good condition. Rubber cover missing on the ring (this is how I understand it) does not affect the photo if all other parts of the lens are there and in good condition. However missing parts are often a sign of heavy usage or even abuse. Considering the price of $90 I'd personally not buy this lens. Kind regards!

    @@villegas24The 1.8G has a focus-shift problem, at 1.8 it hits it exactly right, and as you start to cover the aperture, the focus point shifts (most likely backwards), this is all because the camera only focuses at open.
