    IMO, this is the best bang for your dollar! This lens takes sharp pics and definitely is a step up from the kit lens. I use this on my D5300 as my walk around lens and it's so versatile and is a low light wonder. Great video!

    i also have a D5300 Nikon camera and i got this lens. though i have an issue with it, i don't know if you guys have the same issue. when i auto focus using the field view, the subject gets blurry and the back of the subject gets the clear focus. but when i focus using the screen, i get the perfect focus. have you guys noticed this issue with your D5300?

    Good review, I picked this up about a month ago and it's a gem in low light. One thing to note though, you've compared the auto focus speed and sound to the old kit lens - the af-s. The newer af-p kit lenses are blazing fast, the 35mm doesn't even come close.

    Use your aperture as widely open as possible. Make sure the product is in perfect focus. If the lens zooms, zoom in all the way and be as close to the subject as possible. For smooth video, use exactly 1/2xframerate as your shutter speed and voila!

    On a 35 mm camera ( full frame ) 35mm is a wide angle lens. A crop camera uses 28mm as it's std size, so what is the equivalent wide angle size to give the original 35mm on a dx camera? 21mm?.

    you'll need to decrease the aperture in ur camera itself. for everything to be in focus, go f4 or f7. You'll also need to compensate for that by increasing the ISO or lowering the shutter speed so that the video isnt very dark

    This is a DX lens. So, does this lens work as 52mm on D5600 camera or it works as 35mm only?

  • @uweinhamburg

    @uweinhamburg

    5 жыл бұрын

    A 35mm focal length lens is a 35mm focal length lens. :) The focal length is a property of the lens like the weight or its seize. This is completely independent on which camera it is mounted. Even without any camera the focal length is 35mm. *By tradition* the optical effect of a lens on different bodies is given as a value what the equivalent on a fullframe camera would be. So - this lens has a focal length of 35mm and on a DX camera the resulting photos would be equivalent to a 52mm lens on a full frame camera. If you would somehow mount this lens in front of a smartphone sensor it would be equivalent to a nice 300mm tele ;)

  • @BigBadroid

    @BigBadroid

    5 жыл бұрын

    You might want to invest in a zoom lens for landscape shots, but other than that, for portraits, low light and street, the 35mm f1.8 would be perfect. If you want to get a bit more zoomed in pictures, a 50mm f1.8 should be a good choice as well

    since ur camera has a crop factor of 1.25x while shooting at the highest rez, I'd say take a 30 mil, if not, you should go for the 40. 50 is a bit too zoomed in (especially for my liking), hence, I'd say a 30 or a 24mil if U can afford that

    No. A 35mm focus lens has 35mm focus. This has nothing to do with the camera behind it. It is a technical attribute of the optical system lens. Like a certain person weighs 75kg. It doesn't matter if the person sits in a huge bus or on a small moped. What is different is the effect of this 35mm focus on the resulting photo with different sensors. For a middle format camera 35mm focus is really wide angle. For a camera in a smartphone it would be a long tele lens.

    Robert Walker Try changing the AF mode. Dont select Single Servo, that causes that problem as it focuses only when the shutter button is half way pressed.

    Robert Walker Press the "i" button on your camera. on the screen, you'll see multiple options. on the left side, there will be 2 options related to Autofocus- AF mode and AF Area. Change the AF mode to something other than the "single servo"

    I also have a M43 camera with a 25mm lens for it, comparing that to my full frame 50mm, they are exactly the same in the framing. Even though the 25mm says its for a m43 system, it gives us a 50mm focal.The focal lengths on the lenses are not written according to the cameras but the glass of the lens itself. This can be confusing, but that's what it is.

    Great performance at that price.. But it's very fragile.. The AF motor gets damaged easily with little rough usage (not dropping obviously) like travelling on a bumpy road on a motorcycle.. So handle with care...

    I didn’t really understand the crop sensor thingy... I have a Nikon d5200 so what’s gonna happen? 🤔😅

  • @BigBadroid

    @BigBadroid

    4 жыл бұрын

    Right. So the D5200 is a crop sensored camera, meaning that it will have about a 2.4 time crop as compared to a full frame camera ( which is the full format we compare other camera sensor sizes to). Since the lenses are glasses that work in ways to bend light and project a certain field of view of images, the full frame sensors usually tend to capture every bit of the information of the lens throws at it. Since a crop sensored camera is smaller, it doesn't take the full information but only a little lesser. Think of it as a circular image getting projected on a rectangular plane whose corners are the diameter of the circle- That's a full frame. And when u reduce the size of the rectangle, it punches in to the image (crops in). So when u use ur crop sensored D5200 camera with this lens. You'll get a slightly more zoomed in version of the image you would get on a full frame with the same picture quality and lens performance.

    Anybody have any low-light lens recommendations for a D3300 that's better than this one? I've been reading mixed reviews on this lens, the stock lens I have maxes out at 3.5 & ISO needs to be jacked to 3600 to even take decent photo's low-light.

    Its not a wide angle lens. Its wider than a 50mm, but personally, wide angle lenses start from 28mm and then they go down in number from there. So 28mm/25mm/22/18/18/12/8mm these are all wide to ultra wide
