Nikola Tesla is one of the most brilliant physicists and inventors in the world's history.
Low-budget electricity production, wireless communication, asynchronous AC motors: these and many more are his discoveries. But as a businessman, Tesla was not as lucky as an inventor - millions of dollars and Nobel Prizes for his discoveries most often went to someone else.
In the new episode of “How It Was,” we recall the scientist whom many rightfully called "Leonardo da Vinci of the 20th century." You will learn about the main scientific battle of the 19th century - the War of the Currents between Tesla and George Westinghouse on the one hand and Thomas Edison on the other. Why did the alternating current (AC) outperform the direct current (DC) electric power, and what does the electric chair have to do with it? We will also tell you why Guglielmo Marconi and not Tesla got the laurels for the invention of the radio, what Tesla had to do with the discovery of X-rays, and how it turned out that many of his inventions were attributed to other people.
