Nikkor Z 28mm f2.8: What a great little lens!

Ойын-сауық

So I wanted a bit of a wider prime when out shooting street photography in Tokyo so I picked up the Nikkor Z 28mm 2.8 lens for my Nikon Zf. Great little lens, super light, and was a ton of fun to use!
This lens is also great for selfie video shooting, and I think it will replace my GoPro for those kinds of shots in the future!

It seems to be super underrated! Much sexier lenses out there for sure, but this fits my settle nicely. Even used it for some video work yesterday.

Nice photos! i have been wondering about adding this lens to my bag or the 26mm. I had a mind to wait on voigtlander 28mm F1.5 in a Z mount, I think i will add this one to my bag for NY/DC trip next month. 🤔

It’s cheap and small so picking it up while waiting for a 1.5 to come out would be fine for sure. Especially if you have a trip next month. Hope you get some great shots!

Woww I learned alot by reading your thought process and look for reflections. I used to look for these things but now I forgot all about how cool reflections can be. I noticed you shoot alot on the screen and it does have alot of glare, I suggest you find a "paper felt screen protector" from other devices like ipad and cut a small piece for the ZF screen, it will be much pleasing to look at under bright light.

I already liked your rainy Tokyo shots with the 40, and these with the 28mm are great as well! I'll leave with the family for Japan in a week and will be there for 4 weeks. I doubt I'll have much time for street photography with two little kids but I wanna do some shooting nonetheless. I have the 24-70 f/4 and the 28 & 40 "twins". My brain says take the kit zoom to benefit of the 24mm for Tokyo and landscapes in general (will be travelling a lot there). However, I know I will like shots taken with the primes more. Carrying everything on a daily basis is out of the question, as is a lot of lens swapping. I'll be too busy with my kids there, I'm afraid. Usually just grab the X100F for my travels and be done, but I wanna shoot full frame over there. One lens for the Z6, what should it be? :)

I honestly think with kids and all the moving changing lenses would be difficult, but if it were me I would at least take the 24-70 as the main, and then have the 40mm with you just incase you can change, or want a more compact lens with you. But saying that, you could just bring all three, and then pick a lens depending on what you are doing that day. Even if the primes stay in your hotel the whole time is better to have them here and not use them than leave them at home and want them. Hope you have a great trip! And thanks for the great comment!

@@jasonhalaykophotography Awesome, I just might. Even if it's just to grab a coffee and talk photography, and Japan in general. Are you located in Tokyo? I'm travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto, Miyajima, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya, Izu and back to Tokyo over the course of 4 weeks, and will be back in Tokyo before leaving from June 6th to 12th.

I love how you find interesting perspectives to shoot from, taking advantage of puddles and reflections. Really great to learn different street photography ideas. By the way, did you consider the 26mm f2.8?

Yes, that would be better, but for the price and size of this I’m not complaining. It’s something I use in the street mostly so f/2 is still great.
