Why is it "dancer vs ballerina"? Ballet is a subcategory of dance, which means all ballerinas are dancers too. I think it should have been titled something like hip hop vs ballet to show that the conflict is between the two styles

Both of them are professional ballerinas now. I think Maria Vinogradova is a Bolshoi soloist and Anastasiya Soboleva is a second soloist at the Mikhailovsky

It doesnt matter who has or hasn't got what. Dancing is dancing. Every form of dance is sacred, to those who are lucky enough to know the joys of dancing. Yes, maybe the ballerina trained harder. But anyone who can dance at all i worthy of SOME respect. Lets give them some.

Very nice and interesting video: ballet is the foundation of almost all styles of dance. Beautiful. The amplitude and extension of the ballerina's lines are just incredible.

Ballet has so many precise requirements and is THE foundation of all other types of dancing. It comes back to your formal training in the end..

Whatever one thinks of ballet to have some knowledge gives you a strong foundation for all forms of dance, and a better awareness of the body. It's just adding more layers to the technical side of skills. That was also said by one of the judges on "So you think you can dance." It's fun to watch either one and both make it look very easy. Thank you for sharing.

For those asking, the remix of the Borodin opera was created by original music company Endless Noise. The composed the hip-hop track and mashed it up with the original opera to create this track.

I'm a ballet dancer, and I understand how long it takes to even master one movement. Although ballet is so discipline and precise, and Hip-hop is loose, they both worked hard for what they do, and they both love what they do. That ballet dancer put no more effort into her dancing than the hip-hop dancer. Think about that. No matter what you do whether its sport, dance, art etc.. they all worked so hard to get where they are.

Very, very interesting juxstapostion. Both artforms have their place as long as the music is appropriate. The main 2 things that differentiates the 2 types of dancing is that ballet has more extreme athleticsm and it has moods.

@hollyp275 Hehe, thanks for your understanding. I am a popper for about 7 months now and I still have trouble with alot of moves. It's true that hip hop dance styles have moves that take lesser time to learn but if you want to perfect them and give it your own style then its still gonna take a few years to master it.

ballet is about discipline, flexibility, focus, mastering your own body and connecting it with your mind for a complexity and stability of movements to come, hip-hop is just relaxing and moving in a style of music, moves that can be thought in 1 month or even less and require no use of brain at all. Ballet wins in every aspect
