The ladies being fined for not competing in bikini bottoms shows the problem. If they still can compete with no problem in shorts then it's obvious that they wanted to sexualize the women doing these sports for personal enjoyment. I'm glad the athletes are taking offense and pushing back. There should be more standing against this.

I was hoping they would change the outfit of the women’s beach volleyball. I I have decided not to watch because it’s too embarrassing. Also I don’t understand why the USA couldn’t change the women ‘s gymnastics team leotard as well. Women are being exploited thru what they wear during their performances.

Most of the "critics" have never played sports or competed. I can tell you some women athletes have worn less. Also, athletes do and can modify their uniform e.g. tights under pants, compression sleeves, leggings, etc.

I've played football,baseball learned to box swam competitions with synchronize swimming while in high school. Also they'll have a jacket and plenty of towels to keep comfortable

The athletes who are in the Olympics are openly disapproving it. I am sure if you ever work with female athletes who perform best in less clothing, that experience is valid, but the fact that their target customers are not happy, proves it's a poor design with little understanding of the need for their comfort, which is essential for good performance.

Are clothing companies supposed to pay athletes to wear whatever they want? Do they know most women like to show off their bodies that they work so hard to optimize, getting a few choice quotes from a handful of women does not represent everyone. When they tried to have my lacrosse team wear Speedos and tight fitting kits, you could choose not to be sponsored by them. Nike is not looking for a highly educated well rounded individual to represent their company. They're looking for an athlete with incredible physical attributes that has a successful track record in a specific sport, their body is a part of that, man or women. This is not compulsory, if you don't like sexy outfits that accompany starts to make, don't wear it. Go get your own clothing, make it yourself or find a different brand. This is just nonsense, trying to blackmail a company to pay you simply because you're a woman. Athletes are not paid to be priests, they're meant to provide entertainment and sell tickets, seriously go find a company that sells ballroom gowns is that if that's how you prefer to dress. Oh wait wait wait, they're complaining because they want to be paid to do whatever they want, got it. They deserve to be paid the exact same amount as anyone else, regardless if anyone shows up, buys their apparel or wears their jersey. I think the major brands should create an equity sponsor version of their company where they can allocate some money to advancing women's sports through donations because this is certainly not fair or earned. The last 5 to 10 years I simply hear more stories of women demanding money because they are women
