To have a downswing, you need to be a winning player in the first place...

It’s not a downswing when you don’t have an established win rate at this level game. Little hint Nik you slowly move up in stakes after establishing solid win rates on many many hours and hands played. He never established himself as a winner on a solid sample size I bet at 10/20 let alone 25/50 or 100/200 + Silver spoon mentality Then to be dumb enough to boast about his losing streak makes him even more the victim and others abuse him even more

I'm not a poker player, but my read on Airball is that he probably had some early success due to his willingness to pile ridiculous sums of money into the middle. However, people caught on to what he was doing, and now these crazy bluffs and unorthodox plays are -EV. Curious to see what thoughtful poker players think about Airball.

Thoughtful players think he isn't good. He played Berkey hu and lost $1m and still thinks he was the better player. Betting on its own doesn't accomplish wins. His name and reputation has literally got airball in it. Now what he should do is study theory, nit it up, get called with all his value bets and make back some of the millions.

I just came to read the comments. Come one guys, lighten up on him. Without him sponsoring the big game streams they could very well go away. In any singular poker session if you look at the distribution of winners and losers it's always roughly the same. In a full table game with 9, you will have 2-3 winners for the session, 1-2 break even players, and the rest are losing. The top 3-5 spots in these big games each session will vary and be filled with the good players. Those good players will sometimes break even, and every now and then lose. But those good players will change their game selection if they don't always have a line up of fish to fry like Nick. The game needs him.

However, losing 80 buy-ins or even 40 buy-ins over a short course of a few months you can't really say its a downswing. This is a player who simply is delusional of his skill or underestimates the variance and skill it takes too make it as a professional poker player. - A professional poker players thoughts.

The variance of these games are very different than your average 5/5. They play loose and splashy to look good on TV, usually very deepstacked, while your game is most likely a nitfest 1-200 deep. Live low stakes cash is the ultimate smooth sailing format, basically every other poker game is multiple times swingier. That being said Airball is a whale lol

Yeah you can play the hand but have to play accordingly given this hand has huge reverse implied odds. Any straight can be losing to likely bigger straights. Flush need 4 on board and unlikely to get paid off. Hit top pair and multi way liiely losing to many better kings, sets or two pairs if get in bigger pots. Hard to get paid off big unless hit two pair vs AK exactly maybe KQ. Gotta keep pots smaller and use hand more as a bluff catcher. He is betting flop and turn on monotone board after multi way action like he needs protection. He is either crushed by ton of hands or needs to dodge hearts and aces. Keep it small and maybe call down if bad cards don't come. Betting just bloats pot with mediocre hand that can be nearly dead leading to tough decisions later. Compounding mistakes

Funny thing is, if he would just start following preflop charts and underbluf and overfold postflop he would get at least half of his money back in no time.

Nik is obviously playing the heal role for HCL. He has thrown his money around staking players which has given him the power to act like he’s the boss over everyone! A heal playing a heal role!

There is no shock in this. I posted on Hustler and SFWhy 3 months ago that airball has huge blatant tells and it's no secret in the Vegas community what they are. He is literally a billboard and will continue to get battered.

its only a downswing if u are playing reasonably well and are still losing. Also it seems obvious that he didnt earn this kind of money so it might be nice to know how he came by it.

I feel like HCL is immoral in this situation. It's the first I've seen pros trick a whale into thinking he is a pro. They invite him onto podcasts and give him the illusion that he is a winning player. He even talks about what is good for the game and how to handle fish while being oblivious to the fact that the games run around him. It's a fucking shocking thing to see.
