I am Kenyan. The biggest mistake is the government thinking they can predict how angry the citizens will be. They cannot. I was surprised to see them enter parliament. I even think most of them didn't see that coming. The moment that bill passed peacefully protesters got angry and in under two hours things had changed.

We don't care you old folks will all go.
You can’t have it both ways. You don’t want to pay taxes then don’t ask for roads, schools, hospitals etc. There is no economic development without tears and sweat.

In case you don't know, we're taxed on almost everything in this country. There's a component of tax on all farcets of life. Maybe you want the air we breathe to be taxed as well
@philtymcnasty9994

@@fredowusu22 May be I should have dived deeper. Ghana can’t pull itself out of economic doldrums because ONLY 4% of the working adult population pay INCOME TAXES. Sales taxes or consumption taxes are not the same as income tax. That 4% are mainly people in the formal sector, like civil servants, police, soldiers, teachers, nurses, corporate workers etc. The vast majority of Ghanaians work in the informal sector. These people often pay next to nothing income taxes. That is why we always have budget deficits and have to go and borrow money overseas.

Found myself here...watching from kenya......in Kenya we pay tax.....but corruption is budgeted and so they have to squeeze us more so that we can continue building their mansions... businesses and keep elevating their life style .....you can take this to the bank we can't allow this.. in Kenya..ruto is one term president we have decided
@fredowusu22

@@decoloniz_afro my brother, the corruption in Ghana is far worse than that of Kenya. Recently, a minister of state has an amount of one million dollars stolen from her by her house help. She didn't even notice it was stolen until the house help was caught red-handed. It took the police days to count all themonies piled up in her room. Also, the taxes you guys are fighting against, we're already paying here in Ghana.
@fredowusu22
6 күн бұрын
@@philtymcnasty9994 what has the government done for the informal sector to demand an income tax? The 4% that pays income tax are the ones the government has employed, he should take it from them. Didn't he criticize the formal government of overburdening us with taxes? He said he's going to move the economy from taxation to production, but he has introduced more taxes more than anyone. The taxes on goods and services in this country is enough to suffocate one, yet somehow you think we're not paying enough? But for corruption and mismanagement, our natural resources alone should be enough to cover for any income tax. Dubai only has oil but no one pays tax over there. The time of accountability is near.
Why did you not say the same thing when your President, Mahama, said he was 'oguanfunu??

@@epignosisvisual8197what's wrong with your brains? He is talking about what happened in Kenya, how politicians treat the citizens and you are here talking nonsense. Do you know the effects of such demonstrations on the country and people's properties and businesses? All will be affected whether NPP, NDC or any other person. Did he accuse the NPP? Political stooges will always have something wrong with what people say. Don't dare the youths to demonstrate. Not even the army and the police can stand up against them. Check from Burkina Faso in 2014 when people overthrew President Blaise Compaore. Civilians demonstrated to parliament and burnt 🔥 it then matched to the presidential palace where he ran away with his family to Cote D' Ivoire with his family. Pray the youths don't get angry
