Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us." - Colossians 3:11 (NLT)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

I consider myself a nihilist, To me nihilism is the realization that nothing matters but that which you choose to matter. All thanks to the raven claw door riddles oddly enough. It not that we are insignificant ,but that we are unaware of our scale and the importance or lack there of, of our own being.

I'm a big proponent of something I like to call optimistic nihilism. Literally nothing matters to any degree whatsoever. Everything you do will will eventually be lost to the sands of time. However, just because nothing matters doesn't mean that nothing should matter to you. Because if you just treat it as if nothing will ever matter to you, you will live a sad and lonely existence. If you refuse to create meaning for yourself, you'll never be able to appreciate anything you have and will stagnate. Stagnation is entropy. Entropy is death. To stagnate is to die piece by piece. This became even more obvious to me when I was in a car accident back in 2017 that put me from being on the track of getting a blue collar job to only just now landing a job as a burger flipper after physical therapy and painkillers, and even then I still have troubles sleeping due to pain. I've experienced being imprisoned by your own body and the fact that the worst prison is your own mind. This is why you should experience things and create. Because if you fail utterly, at least nobody will remember it and if you succeed, you'll be able to take solace in the fact you made your dreams reality. But hey, what do I know? There's always a minute chance everything matters because we all become eternal through technology and your PC and/or phone files will be found centuries upon centuries later by anthropologists. This is why I always keep a folder named "porn" on my PC with nothing but a text document stating your princess is in another castle. Just in case I get to cosmically troll someone in the far future, assuming my SSD isn't put in a landfill.

They might be seen as polar opposites in their extremes. But these extremes hardly exist in real life and I believe the inbetweens of these opposites would be entangled and not linear. Butters isn't radically compassionate. He was abused by his crazy parents to be compliant aF and adopt toxic positivity. Which is much worse then being a goth kid for a while. When he gets rejected by the vampire kids in another episode he creates the plot that destroys them and later in life his identity splits into his antisocial alter ego Victor Chaos. So there is definitly a surpressed dark side to his compassion! Somtimes it is ultimatly more compassionate to rebel or embrace nihilism for a while, to externalize or ease inner struggles, get a sense of self and breath for a moment. Like in hard times or when dealing with abusive stuff. Compassion and Nihilism both have their place.

@@jakethejax Yeah I heard the term coined a long ass time ago but never remembered who originally used it. Nihilism by itself isn't even mutually exclusive with optimism tbh, it's just that a majority of nihilists became edgy militant atheist keyboard warriors that like to act like Nietzsche was trying to tell everyone they should emotionally debilitate themselves as a philosophy. It's why optimistic nihilism needs to exist as a term, because there's enough of a schism in the nihilists that it needed to split from modern contemporary nihilism. Life is like clay. indistinct until it has been molded and shaped by both the hands of those that brought it into being and the elements that created the conditions to allow the clay to form. After it has spent much time being shaped, dried and wet over and over again will it eventually solidify in the kiln. After many, many years though it will chip and break away and eventually will be dust. However, sometimes a fragment will last for centuries longer than anticipated. Either way though, that clay will eventually go back into the earth and be reused over and over again, just like water or anything else really. It's pretty zen in a funny way.

@@hinglemccringleberry7265 Well the reading is gonna have to be entirely dependent on whether or not you see Chaos as a split personality due to dissociative identity disorder, or if he's just picked up an antisocial personality disorder. Because if it's DID, that means there's no darkside to his compassion, instead he was traumatized as a child to the point where the Choas personality was created as a way to mentally protect Butters and it's a mental illness that cannot be cured, thus there lies zero correlation between his positivity and negativity since they'd be two entirely different alters with different memories (This is supported by the After COVID special part 2) If he's got an antisocial personality disorder, then he's just acting out. So I think framing it as if he picked up toxic positivity and having a repressed part of him being antisocial would be irresponsible as that would be like claiming a schizophrenic has a dark side to their personality just because their brain conjures up hallucinations that try to convince them people are lying to them. I think that for there to be a dark side to someone, they'd have to have agency over that aspect of themselves. Butters lacks said agency and it can never be fixed, only treated with medication and therapy. So Chaos as a person could change, but Butters himself is still a great person to the end.

As one of goth kids, I can say that the goth kids on the show aren't the worst representation of us. Their angst is melodramatic, but it's also artistic. They are trying to get Stan to open up with his feelings, though they aren't comfortable with hearing his desires. There is a sort of.. comfortable familiarity with depression, which is why Stan actually does fit in with them. Stan literally ends up an alcoholic in the future, because he never quite accepts himself. Butters on the other hand, knows exactly who he is. Butters has this weird charisma to him. If he's trying to suck up to someone he considers better than him, he's usually terrible at it. But when he is social to someone he finds inferior? He manages to make an army of chaos minions in the game Stick of Truth, and in the show proper. In one future, he's bankrupted hundreds to thousands of people. In a different future, he's the manager of the Denny's Applebees Plus. Both show that Butters knows what he wants and goes for it.

Then she was gone, so, it wasn’t the same. My friend sent me the last clip of Butter’s speech of it being a beautiful sadness. I had her since I was seven years old and honestly, it was hard letting her go. I felt Butter’s pain until the message came to me. The show told me not to be so negative and try and move on from the sadness. I moved on and rescued another cat

It’s funny. I went through a stage ages ago where I would stay up all night horrified at the idea of being forgotten. The idea of never accomplishing anything and then just dying. Although, after I got through the initial shock and anxiety of this realisation, this force of death and life overall being completely coincidental was the biggest comfort for me. The thing is, one day you are going to pass and at some point everyone will forget you. But in the same extent, isn’t that beautiful? This really allows you to conceptualise that in the end life is meaningless. So why should you worry at all about anything? This is one of my main drives today. Yes, life can hurt but in the same way isn’t it completely up to us when and where that pain ends and begins? You’re here and..one day you won’t be. This is not to say that your issues are not worth attention, but more to say they are not as big as we perceive them to be. Strangers on the street could never know about your struggles. You could be anyone to them. A complete bundle of possibilities. They say it’s only as children but even now aren’t we only what we want to be? Who cares about other people! In this moment is you, it is I and it is them. In the next moment, someone will be gone. Isn’t that wonderful. Life is meaningless which in a way means it is completely mouldable. Life is what you make it because it wasn’t made to be anything.

@@attilaschweininger6867 This is one of the things I had considered originally when coming to terms with Nihilism. Although, pain has always been nature. Yes, it is sad that pain is around although it has never been purely humans causing such pains. The animals, the nature. Everything around you could bring someone misfortune. Be it through hurricanes or snapping bones. Pain is the most natural part of life. Do not misinterpret my words, I am not trying to justify murder or death. All I am hoping to say is that this was always part of life and honestly I feel the realisation of Nihilism would not cause these deaths and crimes to raise or fall. You can choose to believe otherwise. The reason I have so much faith in Nihilism, is that the realisation of time and how short it is may help with the release of negative emotions that do relate to crimes. Because life is so short I don’t believe that it is worth wasting the time in anger or resentment. Rather, focusing on yourself and your self improvement. Why focus and waste so much precious time on others who hurt you so when you can instead push forward with positivity and improve on yourself and your situation. You are free to think otherwise but I hope this eased some of the thoughts that come with Nihilism. Feel free to ask me any questions. This is purely my opinion and you are free to interpret Nihilism any way you want. Reality is so complicated it is impossible for one person to be correct.

What about the evolution of the mind and consciousness, breaking free from the dark abyss, escaping reality. Life is all about power and learning abilities, the only meaningless part is death and that comes after life, so death is a different reality separated from the Here & Now. Nihilism got nothing on the life-force consciousness, it's part of reality and will always exist, since consciousness is eternal life is eternal. Life happened so consciousness could emerge, there's nothing meaningless about it. Most living entities are not ready for the power of oneness, but time will fix all of that. 🏵🌸💮🌸🏵🌸💮🌸🏵

I always had a thing for philosophy. I can say with conviction that existential nihilism, more exactly Absurdism, has helped me a lot with my severe clinical depression. It is strange, because one could think this kind of thought school would be dangerous to some with a very serious problem that simple removes the will of existing. It is still not easy and it will never be. But it keep me grounded on those hard moments. I began studying Nietzsche and Kierkegaard, but it was the positive outlook on the works of Albert Camus that sold me on the Absurdist variant of Nihilism. In some aspects, the video approaches the views of Camus more than Nietzsche. Camus works in interplay between the absurd of innate meaningless of existence in contrast our capacity of finding meaning in life. He called this absurd. This episode has hints of this on the acceptance of the pain of radical freedom of meaningless as part of life. In fact, the absurdist analogy of the myth of Sisyphus applies very well here: "The struggle itself ... is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy". Finding happiness in building meaning in a world that is neutral to your very existence is a very uplifting message to me.

I tend to use the the tv tropes word for it "anti-nihilism" to describe this feeling; " life is meaningless, but only because it lacks inherit meaning you can give the people places and things in your life meaning"

I don't think this man understands it, and I don't think I'm late for saying this but. The two videos by this man regarding Stan's Depression and this one really helps me. I've been fighting my suicidal thoughts for the past 4-5 years as I am constantly pressured by my whole family from youngest to oldest and how they won't even allow me to find help as they just ignore it, and stop me when I try. All I have to say, as it's not enough, your two videos have been really helpful throughout me, fighting my thoughts and depression, helping me look at the world at the world from a different perspective, and for that I'm grateful, goodluck to your channel man and thanks for everything you've helped me with. I don't care If you don't notice this, but I don't care, I just want to tell you i'm grateful.

My therapist has me practicing nihilism as a form of getting over my anxiety. There is no god, and there are no real rules save for what we put on ourselves. It's helped me more than all my previous attempts at self help and therapy ever have.

Yes it works wonders for some. But others just arent ready for that kind of thinking so it doesnt help them. Me personaly it helped a lot. I always wanted to understand everything and worried too much but when i discovered neutral nihilism all of this disappeared

I always look forward to seeing your videos~ one day you should try and look into the Persona games which talk about deep impactful things such as not fearing death, dealing with the depths of the toxic side of society and reaching out to the truth. Persona 3-5 have some deep impacting and even harsh reality checks that I think could make amazing future videos from you one day!

Hey, man. I have absolutely no idea if you'll ever see this, but I just wanted to share something with you: Back in September 2021, I lost: my girlfriend of 3 years, my job, my side hustle, had to leave my apartment, was broke, and was homeless for a week. I was thankful that my family took me in when i needed someone. I would spend the next year and a half in the deepest and darkest depression ive ever experienced (I was later diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and a handful of other things). Through out that time, I watched and listened to a lot of your videos. I watched your South Park videos, and your Simpsons Rock Bottom Depression nearly every day, and you have no idea how much it helped me to pull myself out of my hole, get my ass to therapy, and start the climb back to where I was. Thankfully, I went even further than where I was. I'm now on my own again, have a great job, am going back to college, found love again, and have been able to really appreciate the little things in life that make it truly beautiful. I just wanted to say thank you for what you do. I honestly wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you and the thought provoking content you make. God bless you so much.

There are a lot of episodes of South Park that I like to say "this is my favorite one" But this one. This particular one. After everything, it's still the episode I like the most. I'm glad you covered it with such scrutiny. Nihilism is a philosophy South Park simply adores, and it's part of the reason they can tackle such mature subject matters at times. This episode is probably where their wisdom stands out the most. You did it justice.
