Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God" - 1 Peter 3:3-4 (NLT)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

Here's a tip to all girls coming from a guy: only wear makeup for special occasions. People get used to how you look, so if you adjust your face with makeup every day, people will get used to that. Then, when you don't wear it, people will think you look worse. If you get people used to seeing your natural beauty every day, then they will be impressed on the rare occasion when you do wear it. Trust me, it works. Would you rather hear "You look really good today", or "...You look different"? It's all about what people are used to seeing.

And as long as you maintain proper hygiene and a good sense of fashion, it's not your fault people think you're unattractive. I feel like there are some people who take stuff like "Beauty standards suck" and "Body positivity" and "Be yourself" in the wrong way, particularly the "Be yourself" . They think that it's okay to be lazy, rude, spiteful etc. because that's just their personality and they want to "be themselves" , when really the message truly means be the best version of yourself, the most talented, interesting, nicest version. Bottom line : Criticise people only for things they can improve upon, and the world would be a less toxic place.

And there are people who are born in a rich family. And there are people who are born with high intelligence. Some people are given advantages over others, and sure that's "unfair", the dude in this video didn't claim anything to the contrary. The point is it doesn't matter, because there's quite literally nothing to be gained by giving it even a single thought. You can't change what you have been given, you can only choose what you want to do with it.

There are people who are more talented, there are people who are born into wealth, there are people who are more athletic than most. Life isn’t fair, you have a hand you’ve been dealt. Honestly kinda weird, you can understand it if all you think beauty is aesthetics, but true beauty is a combination of looks and personality. Not in the sense of a thin waist and stuff like that but as well as putting the time and dedication into yourself that is the part of it. It works good in the context of the movie, but it's not good life advice because it makes "beautiful" people either seem dumb or shallow.

Some people say I look like a kid from 8th grade. I am gonna start working on my body. It's done. I got this , motivation creates work and work creates motivation. But I will workout not for the sake of getting validation from girls or maybe have a relationship... etc. , no its for me , myself. I don't not wanna look into myself and rate myself not a 10. I want to work for the sake of working out. I want to study for the sake of studying, Though I sometimes feel whats the point of it all when I am pretty sure some things are unpractical. I just also feel like I have to accept studying for the sake of studying even though you don't precisely like (not hate either) that thing. Just a man's frustration.

There's a huge double standard there. At first you say that ugly people grow up without validation for their looks, so that makes them stronger and more likely to succeed... But. That's not because of their looks. Not looking good gets you often treated like you don't exist, or even bullied, which has bad effects on your overal mindset and undermines your everyday life. Their success is related solely to their strong personalities, it's not because of their looks - it's DESPITE their looks. Then you say hot people get spoiled and undisciplined by the validation.. But that's just not true. I know many gorgeous people who are also hard-working, kind and don't look down on others, even though they could easily get away with it. Again, it's their personality. So if you're a strong personality, you're gonna be good at both situations, but lets be real - the first one is much worse and sucks. Are you telling me these people never cry or feel like shit because of their looks?

What I do also believe though is that we are all living humans, who despite not being perfect are amazing living beings designed do well you could say our mere existence is a work of art. That would be one way to explain why I believe that while sure many people scored pretty low compared to others we are still all beautiful. Just imagine an alternate world where everything would be the same but everybody would have faces which in our world we would consider ugly, they wouldn't have that problem there. So again while I obviously agree that there are standards or scales to beauty I think it wouldn't be farfetch'd to try living while being more aware of the fact that we're all beautiful. (you could also apply this to intelligence, for sure there are people who don't use their intellectual potential to the fullest, or use it wrongly or that are not as gifted as others, but merely our capacity to be aware of ourselves and other things and the ability to think which is better developed than that of other living things is simply amazing, so once again, although there are standards if you actually think about it we are all intelligent) Maybe I dug a little too much or got overly optimistic or overly idealistic around the corners but I think this could be a very nice view so I hope people won't get to irritated at my huge comment:)

A few days ago every guy in my gym class was rated by the girls, all of my friends got pretty high ratings but I wasn’t rated higher than 4/10 this really hurt my confidence, especially since I’d always been very self conscious about my looks because of how attractive everyone considers my older brother to be, and to make things worse, today the mask mandates were lifted at my school and I rarely took my off during class before, so today a lot of people saw my face for the first time and most of them called me weird looking and said that I looked better with the mask on. So thank you, this isn’t the first time I’ve watched your video but everytime I do I feel a lot better and remember that I probably shouldn’t base my looks around the opinion of high schoolers.

Man, I guarantee this is not true. Not tryna make this about me with this story, just tryna show how perceptions don't always line up. I was bullied and teased all through my early years until college, made to feel like I was worth absolutely nothing as a human being, and one day a girl said to me, "Why do you have to be so perfect? It's so annoying." I was stunned. I'd never thought someone could think I was worth anything, yet alone worth being jealous of. I couldn't even be upset about being called annoying. Thing is, yeah, I was getting top marks, well liked by teachers, never had drama with other students and had a couple of close friends. Seems pretty good. But I also have SEVEN bloody mental conditions, including learning disabilities (autism, ADHD and dyspraxia) and have to fight tooth and nail to keep up that image of doing well. Some days forming a coherent thought is agony, let alone writing a university standard paper. I've had one girlfriend in my entire life (she was very sweet, nothing wrong there) and I had to break it off because I got too overwhelmed to handle a relationship alongside functioning like a normal human being. There are days when I can barely feed myself. Thing is, that girl back in college isn't the only one who's accused me of seeming annoyingly perfect. It's gotten to the point where I don't like to mention my accomplishments in case I seem arrogant, but it's also kinda hard because being decent academically is basically the only thing that gives me any measurable sense of value as a human being. tl;dr: the people who *seem* "literally perfect" could be struggling with so many hidden difficulties/mental illnesses/disabilities/traumas that you wouldn't know about. I guess I don't totally fit your description because I'm not conventionally attractive/rich/don't have an amazing family, but my point stands. Are you *sure* their family is amazing? No one would know what mine's really like. Are you sure they enjoy their job and had a perfect life and never suffered anything traumatic? Most importantly, are you sure YOU aren't beautiful, nice and hardworking? Are you sure no-one's ever looked at YOU and thought 'Wow, they're so perfect, why can't I have it that easy?' You might be surprised.

Bro, I'm 33 and went through the exact same thing, I'm with you there! I'm probably pathetic as they come, I've never had a boyfriend, my crushes have always been unrequited, I've only been casually asked out three times in my life (first time at 26, second at 28, third at 32). If I just had that one man who loved me, who constantly held me up and told me I was worth it, then I'd be unstoppable, I'd finally be confident and happy. About 4 years ago, though, I began to think that maybe those bad things were actually all for the best, because my self-esteem was at the bottom of the barrel. I realized with horror one day what a sad existence I would've put any man through. My happiness was completely dependent on him, and that's an incredible pressure to put on someone. A man can be my pillar of support to lean against when I need to just rest for a while, certainly, but in my mental state he would've only been relegated to my emotional wheelchair. Me constantly longing to hear validation would have become exhausting for him. So I've been undergoing a long transformation towards being the best representation of myself, letting go of the chains I always dragged around, and I've got to say that I've definitely noticed an improvement. I seem to be attracting just a little more male attention these days than I ever have. Last year a co-worker even admitted to having a crush on me and became the third person to ever ask me out (which blew my mind and nearly floored me, never had anybody confess a crush on me in my life). It's not a major shift, I didn't suddenly become Salma Hayek overnight or anything, but it's a marginally noticeable one. Hopefully things are still going well for you!

I've always hated my body, and did take controlled substances to become more muscular and good looking. Ended up hating my image in the mirror more, and being constantly depressed. I had success in dating other men (gay dude here), but i wasn't happy. I ended up going through some life changing situations, and realized how shallow i was and how beauty comes in many shapes and colors. I still do sports, i still do stupid things to look better, but I ended up judging others less, and giving myself a free pass to enjoy an ice cream and a chocolate every now and then 😁 Lesson for others: do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy. The South Park boys all look the same, but Kyle thought he was ugly because others told him he was, and Clyde thought he was attractive because others told him so. The thing is, it’s not always about just your looks. It’s also about what others say about you. We all believe criticism just because someone else said so.

There's an episode similar to this in Disney's "Recess". The Ashleys announce that they've made a rating system for all the kids on the playground and they give everyone a rating from 1 to 10. This divides everyone in the playground and people start hanging out exclusively with other people who have the same rating, regardless of their relationship with each other elsewhere (for example, the Diggers parting ways simply because they're only one number apart). As with many other episodes, TJ and his friends try to ignore the changes because they know it's wrong to label people like that, but eventually they begin spending less time with each other and even start to become hostile towards those who are rated lower than them. Everyone begins to treat their ratings as if they were fact. The breaking point comes when it's revealed that Gus got the only 0, basically telling him that he might as well not exist. When TJ tries to protest the rating system, the Ashleys just treat him like a worthless naysayer and also lower his rating to a negative. TJ's protests rally his friends back together, and they agree that regardless of their ratings, they're still friends and it shouldn't impact them. In order to end the ratings system, they come up with their own rating system and distribute that to the playground. With the second system in place, everyone is a 10, so everyone is welcome to be with who they want and do what they want at recess. I feel like that episode and the South Park episode convey very similar messages in different ways, and I'm glad that there are many shows, for kids and adults, that give those kinds of positive messages.

"you need to stop eating too much because you're gonna be getting more fatter." "look at that girl, you wanna end up being like her?" "keep eating the way you eat and you'll end up like that lady" "a man eats more than a woman, so give me your plate." Either something is wrong with the hormones, the thyroid, or the pituitary gland. Maybe you're lacking iodine or selenium in your diet.... or something. Irregularities in the body usually have something to do with going out of the optimal balance.... or maybe you just need some good gut bacteria or a reallyyyy good fast. Exercise is good and all, but weight maintenance is much more complex than that. FR look up hypothyroidism symptoms. Not a doctor BTW ⚠️ I'm just being a meddling smartass right now just to tell you, it's not just "laziness". You might be looking at solutions for a different problem entirely...

I understand both sides honestly, todays world does suffer from either hating themselves to a large extent or love themselves to a large extent. Like what they mention in the video, but also people who love themselves yet do not treat their body respectfully like being very overweight and not caring. Of course those who don’t love will put themselves down, again as mentioned by the video, and either blame themselves or others for who they are. They may posses low self-esteem which leads to a lot of issues in general, such as being willing to settle for whatever partner such as abusers because it’s what they deserve. I think everyone does have something that someone will find attractive, but it is a good idea to still try to improve your body and recognize your self-worth!

I used to believe that everyone was attractive to some extent. It only made me waste time which, at 30 years old, I now wish I'd already spent looksmaxxing rather than uselessly working on some self image that I could never really convince myself of because unattractive people are constantly made aware of their unattractiveness, and I'm not just talking about being put down explicitly. The halo effect makes it so that, in society, your looks are, to all intents and purposes, really your personality, and unattractive people don't have the luxury to ignore that reality. Therefore, believing this lie cost me. No such thing as a white lie, and that's why God told us to never tell one.

People disregard influences by glossing over the effects between social expectations and your life with mottos and one liners, to me people should know it obviously does and will affect your life, despite if you choose to ignore it. Just make the best of it, make choices with awareness, know its not always fair. In my opinion, if you are currently in a stable mental state with capacity for negativity, you should chose if you buy in or reject, but don't ignore.

I'm gonna have to 100 percent disagree. For one a deep concern of what others think of your looks will not only make you miserable but it's also extremely unattractive to females. Now you don't have to act like your gods gift but being comfortable in your own skin really does make a difference. Second I'm no pretty boy but I see alot of guys that think that they don't have a chance cause they think they are ugly that are also over weight, bad social skills cause they are afraid to try ect. Last I honestly do not believe being naturally good looking is actually an advantage at all. I find alot of naturally good looking women out there to be unattractive to me cause so many of them are brain dead and fucking boring. Because they never had to work on themselves to be happy with themselves they actually lack in alot of areas. Women especially have to deal with the fact of does this dude actually like me or does he wanna bang me cause he thinks I'm hot? Essentially if you haven't done everything you can to be comfortable in your own skin then you don't have the right to complain. And there's always something you can improve about youself.

Those pics and just society made me have BD and an eating disorder (more and more younger ppl nowadays) and its hard to see yourself as sexy or attractive if u just dont fit the image of what makes u good looking in this society even though u hear or get compliments about the way u look. Its all indeed about self love and then u will accept someone giving u a compliment instead of getting grumpy or sad or be in disbelieve. Looks will fade away just like trends, u gotta focus on your future and what u wanna achieve instead of worrying about likes, followers and glares of ppl who wanna do u. Its just hard to accept how u look like.

Thank you for this video. I always see beautiful women in social media and my self esteem does through the window. I have gotten to the point to look for plastic surgeons and that's pretty sad for me to do. I look average, but social media and my family makes me feel like I don't deserve anything because I'm not "attractive". I needed this video. Thanks. 😊
