Sorry but wish I could mute him in every song. Tarja probably didn't get along with him because he wasn't talented and it's hard when folks are that much lesser than you in skill and talent but won't admit it.

@@idocare6538 that's not what vocal coaches are saying in their reactions to Nightwish with Floor Jansen; on the contrary, they love Marco's voice. Maybe the difference is that Floor brings out the best in him because she's not the prima donna that Tarja was.

I wouldn't exactly call that "demoniac." It sounds more arabic, or middle-eastern to me, which is not necessarily demoniac. It's more stark and prominent than soft opera, and it does express a varying side, but I wouldn't use the word demoniac for that.

Siren do have a dark side. They're ones of the most equivocal and misterious creatures of the entire mythology; and I think that's what Tuomas wanted to convey; I agree with you about the ''arabic'' nuance of Tarja's voice at that point, but the voice turn up out of the blue, suddenly, splitting the air with a determinate, biting and thrilling tone: as if the magic has finally ended up and Ulysses (or whoever) can look and listen to the sirens without any hypnosis. :) Cruel, delvish, real truth.

The End of an Era was truly a gift to us to remember how awesome the original band was. I think they really are awesome. I've listened to these songs for years, and I don't get tired of hearing them.

Wysłuchałam go ponownie raz, potem drugi, potem kolejny...Miałam wrażenie, że to "syreni śpiew" oplata mnie i wciąga w niesamowity nastrój. Poruszająca Muzyka Nightwish, głos Marco i cudowny wokal Tarji zjednoczyły mi się z moimi wizjami z przeszłości. Właśnie tak wyobrażałam sobie uwodzicielskie działanie syren, które poznawałam w czytanych kiedyś baśniach i homeryckich opowieściach. Dla mnie czarujący, wręcz czarodziejski utwór... Niesamowite połączenie dynamizmu i pozornego spokoju, dawnej fantastyki i dzisiejszego świata. Baśniowe, magiczne, a przy tym tak realistyczne...Pozwala słuchaczowi na chwilę "zatonąć w odmętach"...

Jedno jest pewne, Tuomas umie przelać jakąś wizję w piękną muzykę. To jest tak na prawdę rzecz której brakowało Nightwish'owi z Anette, czyli ten niesamowity klimat. Całkiem poważnie, współczuję ludziom którzy przez swoje dziwne przekonania nie dotrą do muzyki Nightwish'a i cieszę się że ja miałem to szczęście tu przybyć :) Pozdrawiam.

She has such amazing, strong vocals. People have said she's more operatic than "they" would like. But, it sets her apart. Makes it amazing.

And once again Greg shows his complete lack of knowledge. Tarja and Marcelo are now living in Spain. They moved there recently because Naomi is about to start school. This way Marcelo can stay home with Naomi while Tarja tours in Europe.

This "Floor Floor Floor" moment is at 10:24 to the end of video... This is the first "Floor Floor Floor" moment and after that you can find so many other similar moment in some newer Nightwish footage... And maybe the most painful one for the former singer, this first "Floor Floor Floor" moment was happened in 2012 in Argentina... The first year Floor singing in Nightwish (and she's not even NW permanent singer that time), and also the first time Floor together Nightwish doing a show in Argentina... hahaha...

I love the intro on this song. Intense music in the background, then a spike in it that gives out to guitars... Truly amazing :O Nightwish always has had some pretty awesome intros and solos. Just look at Nemo, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Elvenpath...

One thing I found amazing in Nightwish is that this song sounds even better live in their End of an Era concert 2005. This video is Great, and thanks vitorlavagnoli but again, there is no better version of "The Siren" than the End of an Era version... it was just perfect that night!

LOL "nightwish is alive and well" they had one of their mos successful tours in 2016 . i love all the nightwish singers including anette dark passion play and imaginarium are among the most selling albums. tuomas lyrics and the passion of the band for music is what keeps the true fans faithful to nightwish......long live good music ling live nightwish

There's a band that still uses the name nightwish. They have a rock singer named Floor, a new drummer and a guy who plays pipes. They aren't a bad band, but they are NOT the original Nightwish. The original nightwish was something unique and special unlike any other band out there. The new nightwish or neo-nightwish, while they aren't a bad band simply doesn't have that magic. If you think about the one characteristic that defines great art, it's always that it is somehow unique and different from all that came before it. That certainly was the case with the true Nightwish and Tarja Turenen was a huge part of that. It wasn't just her unmatched vocal abilities. It was also the touch of class and style she brought to the band with her stage presence and the ability to captivate an audience while invoking all the emotion and feeling the music had. She brought the music to life. Even tuomas admitted on the End of Innocence DVD that Tarja wasn't just the face and voice of the band but was the inspiration, not just behind the music but the entire concept. The bottom line is they can go on making music and perhaps some of it isn't too bad, but the days that defined them are long gone and they will forever be overshadowed by the great band they once were.

First of all evolution is a scientific principal that applies only to species. It doesn't have anything to do with art, music, or bands. That's simply a misapplication of the word for marketing purposes. Even with regard to life, it only applies to species as a whole and not individual members of a species. Those who do not understand this don't even really understand the concept of evolution. In a nutshell, it's about chaos and how out of chaos comes what appears to be order, but the order in reality is simply a construct of the mind of the observer because evolution has no direction or meaning. It's simply pure dumb luck. A mutation happens randomly and it either works and survives or it doesn't. As such evolution doesn't aim to produce a more advanced or complex result because it doesn't aim at all. It has no aim whatsoever. It's just a genetic roll of the dice. And as a result of this it doesn't always produce a more advanced or complex result. In fact, it often produces the exact opposite. If it didn't we wouldn't have viruses or tape worms. The concept of evolution cannot be accurately applied to the fields of art and music because art is something that comes as a result of intelligent design. The one common denominator of art is that there is intelligent design behind it. This is true even if the art is intended to be primitive, the fact remains there's an "intent" behind it and that intent can only come from some form of intelligence. However, if we must invoke the metaphor of "evolution" with regard to nightwish, it would be more like the evolution of the virus, which some believe actually came into being as a result of bits and pieces of DNA or RNA that escaped or more accurately were lost from a more complex cellular organism. While other organisms evolved in the direction of more complexity, viruses went the opposite way and simply became only the minimal necessary to survive. As such virus aren't even capable of reproducing on their own without a host cell to infect because all they consist of is basically a piece of genetic code is a protein capsule. Technically, they aren't even alive when they are outside of an infect cell. They became this way because it was all they needed to survive and that's kinda like the neo-nightwish. The neo-nightwish isn't about being unique and different the way the old nightwish was. It's simply about gaining more mass appeal through commercialization and instead becoming more and more like mainstream music instead of the unique sound they once were. As such nightwish has regressed or devolved in the name of selling albums and tickets for maximum profit. The roots of this devolution of nightwish can be traced back to the point when tuomas handed over control of his band to a group of individuals with interests that were at odds with making good music and at odds with the interest of the actual members of the band. This happened back when tuomas became pissed off at Sami Vanska back in 2000. At that time tuomas handed control of nightwish over to these individuals, one of who was actually employed by the record company as their representative, which was a huge conflict of interest. "NIGHTWISH is Tuomas Holopainen" nightwish is a band and as such can only function as a whole. When people go to see nightwish they don't just go to see tuomas. They go to see Floor. They go to see Marco. They go to see Emppu. Yes, tuomas writes the music and stands behind his keyboard and launches prerecorded track and even plays a little occasionally, but tuomas cannot bring his music to life without the others. He lacks the ability to do so and he lacks the ability to captivate an audience and convey the feelings and emotion to the audience. As such he is the MOST dependent of all the others and needs them as much as they need him. There is only one member of nightwish who has been able to build a successful solo career outside of nightwish and that is Tarja. All the others have either tried and failed or have never really attempted it. Marco has been quoted as saying that joining nightwish meant music could be his day job as well. Floor tied to pick up the pieces and take over the leadership of her former band After forever, but in the process failed and wound up having a break down as a result of it. Only Tarja has been able to spin off a successful solo career and she accomplished it despite her former bands best attempts to black ball her and sabotage her chances of doing so out of their own selfishness and jealousy. "that has given us hope in human kind and hope is very much needed in this days" The only thing that has given us hope in human kind has been Tarja and her ability to rise above what her former band did to her by taking the high road and not stooping to the depths of depravity of her former band and their management who tried their best to capitalize and profit off of the huge drama play they created at her expense to promote and sell their next album, an album written all about the drama play and designed from the beginning to cash in, on throwing a member of the band, who they already knew was leaving anyway, under the bus by firing her early and by surprise in a very public and humiliating way and with lots of slanderous allegations designed to turn the fans against her. The way Tarja responded to this and eventually rose above it does give us hope. However, the fact the band stooped to this level and tried to do these things shows us the very ugliest side of humanity and it's ability to lie to for 8 months and betray an individual they claimed to be their friend from childhood when it comes to their own greed and selfishness. and this isn't even considering that once again repeated somewhat similar behavior toward the very person who they got to replace her.
