R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 . Ann was a big Nightwish Fan. And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat. And gave them some info about NW. This was her favorite song. And this song belongs to her. I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

Love this reaction to one of my favorite songs! “That scared the… everything outta me. Beware headphone users, that hurt. Ouch!…. One more time.” 😂 Jukka on drums still here in 2013. He is still involved with the band on the business side, after handing over the kit to his good friend Kai in 2015. Great windmill!! Looked awesome! This is a poetic lyric by Tuomas that can be interpreted in different ways, inspired by the Walt Whitman poem, of the same name, an existential examination of one’s self, one’s life, and how one fits into the grand scheme of things. You provide wonderful commentary and the editing is fabulous. Subscribed now. Hope to see even more Nightwish on your channel.

R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 This is your song. If you ever have to explain the Groove in Metal to someone - play this tune. Until the Breakdown hits you with a 10 ton hammer it is all fun and games. But then the slow chugging monster with the machine gun riffing takes over. And for every Metal Head this lights up the day. Awesome….Imho one of the best songs ever. Sometimes the sky is piano black…. About Crowdsurfing, The Crowd does not "hold" the person so to speak, they more pass the person on, till they either get to the front or the side. The reason its not welcomed by security is because it can be dangerous, imagine you as a part of the crowd suddenly you get hit by a pair of boots from behind (the boots obvious still on the person), that can be quite painful, also it can be a problem for the person crowd surfing to get down in a safe manner. Most of the time this is not a problem but it can be, and security are there to make sure that nobody gets hurt.

To answer your question about the nature/meaning of the song: It is dark and very poetic in word choice so I could see how you would get that “vampire vibe”, but it is most definitely not vampire/goth/emo/whatever that box entails. The NE song inspired by the free form transcendental poem by Walt Whitman of the same name (Song of Myself). The NW song was written by Tuomas in reflection of his “self” and what is important to him and questions the same of others. After reflecting inwards he looks outward and critiques his fellow man. The beauty is in the acknowledgement that he has no right to claim he his correct, despite clear cut disagreements/criticisms.

Lyrics up! "The deep breath I took still poisons my lungs" Be careful with the windmills! It was good! At least you were able to sit down afterwards... "A hollow opus, 1, 2, 3". "Piano Black" (Deep depression) "Rusty keys, without a door" (No way out?) Did you see Santa in the audience (in August?) As well as the static person with the hat and Anti-Na*i badge (was this for a film?). References to other songs. Storytime and the River Ghosts, Mermaids, Whitmans and the Ride (Last Ride of the Day?), Raving Harlequins, gigantic toys (Scaretale?), Dead Boys' Poem. I've found out that "Covington Woods" is a weird story of an isolated village, with inhabitants terrified to leave.

Hello Maggie! Great choice! This song contains some of Floor's attempts to explore the lower registers of her voice -- see, e.g., about 4:15 and 5:15 of the song. Love to hear your "low notes" as well, if you try and emulate Floor's phrasing in these sections! The song ends at 6:00 to 6:50 with Floor going back to her operatic "head voice". So again covering all the bases! Looking forward to your analysis of this!

@Maggie Renee: Jukka finished out this tour in 2013. In 2015, he decided to step down from drumming because of a 3-year ongoing battle with insomnia. Basically, imagine your brain as an engine -- and then imagine it's constantly running at red-line. Sooner or later, something will break, if the engine isn't maintained. For the brain, that is getting enough sleep, which Jukka did not, only sleeping for 2-3 hours a day on tour. And he almost had a mental breakdown because of it. In 2019, he put out a video saying he was not coming back -- yet, later, Tuomas, in an interview in France, mentioned how Jukka had played on the kit in a few shows, and always was his safety in mind. But Jukka wants to come back, not just because of the fans like myself -- but because he truly and honestly loves playing. Plus, he's the most expressive drummer I've ever had the pleasure of watching -- his facial expressions while he plays tells me that playing drums in this band is not just a job to him, it's a passion. It would be like telling an athlete they can no longer play the game they love, or telling a race driver they can't be behind the wheel. And passion such as his is a rare gift, one that I have never taken for granted. And I...if I could, I would give him all the ability to be able to sleep, because I suffer from chronic insomnia, and the inability to shut your mind and brain down to go to sleep is a pain in the ass. It sucks. As for this song, it is a shame you never talked to Ann Waychoff, who was the Nightwish Army's "den mother" when she was alive. She was who, if you had any Nightwish questions, you could go to and ask. Her knowledge was encyclopedic about this band. When she passed in 2019 or 2020, Gabriel picked up the torch of passing her knowledge on to new reactors. And Song of Myself was her favorite song. RIP Mama Ann...even today, you are still sorely missed and beloved by all who knew you.

I was hoping you would someday react to this song....and you did. Thank you for that. And by the way....you are on track with your windmill head movement 👍🤟. Just need a little practice. If you do get the time... please react to the song... Sleeping sun the video by Nighwish with Their original singer Tarja. They have two different videos to this song with Tarja and they both are awesome 👍🤟🤟. Trust me...you gonna love it. Once again thank you so very much for this reaction. Take care of yourself and have a marvelous weekend. Stay safe 🙏🌹❤️🤟🤟

Windmilling is an art not to be tried by the uninitiated😜... but you definitely have the amazing hair to pull it off! Tuomas draws from the classical poetry and themes. Always looking forward to your Nightwish reactions, especially as I can see how much you appreciate their talent. When you mentioned Halloween and Christmas, I thought of the following. Would also love to see your reaction to Majestica, particularly their song Ghost of Marley. I heard that every person involved in their Christmas album, including guest musicians, did vocal parts in keeping with the spirit of Christmas. Any band Tommy Johannson (Swedish musician, does it all sings and can play virtually every instrument) is involved in, tends to be very talented.

Fantastic. Always great to get a pros view. Greetings from Finland, the home of NW. Could you do Manowar - Warriors of the World United (LIVE): Eric Adams is a great vocalist and would be cool to get your take on him. He is also 66 on that live version and pretty impressive at least to me at that age.

Tuomas wrote the poem and the lyrics. Song's title is inspired by Walt Whitman. This song has many parts. I. "From a Dusty Bookshell". II. "All That Great Heart Lying Still". III. "Piano Black". IV. "Love" which is the final poem and music piece too. Song is actually 13 minutes long.

Have you done any Ayreon? ....it is literally a Thuomas level lyrical musical composer ....creating Sci fi universes and presenting them in multi part (multi album) rock opera's ...plus his rolodex of supporting characters includes singers from BASICLY every high power high talent band world wide. The track that is a good introduction is "The Day that worls breaks Down" (11 world class singers) forgive me if you have done this all ready.....I don't recall it but I could be mistaken. Also Ayreon is the project name ( band name ?) The creator is Arjen Lucasen (sp?) He is also heads "Star One" and other projects. ....it would be such and great Introduction to SO many exciting and really talented singers for you. A personal wish of mine is for you to react to his creation "valley of the queens " a hauntingly beautiful 3 piece female vocal number in a very classical style.....I think you would really enjoy it.

For the next time, make sure you support your upper body by holding your hips with your hands, this will make you more stable and will help you reduce the actual neck stressful movement.

Sabaton, a Swedish power metal group that sing songs about war battles ( true historical events) if you haven't, they have been playing for over 20 years btw 😉 try their newest songs , Christmas truce and soldier of Heaven, they also have a channel named sabaton history that explains all their songs
