Lyrics: Romanticide
God-love and rest my soul
With this sundown never-ending
The feel is gone yet you ain’t gonna see me fail
I am the decadence of your world
I am an eider covered in oil
Happy hunting, you double-faced carnivore
Tell me why
No heart to cry
Hang me high
The music is dead, the amen is said
The kiss of faith is what I beg
A loving heart and soul for sale
Tell me why
No heart to cry
Hang me high
[Chorus]
Leave me be
And cease to tell me how to feel
To grieve, to shield myself from evil
Leave me be
OD of lies is killing me
Romanticide
Till love do me part
See me ruined by my own creations
[Chorus]
Dead Boy’s alive but without sense
I need a near-death experience
Heart once bold
Now turned to stone
Perfection my messenger from hell
Wine turns to water
Campfires freeze, love-letters burn
Romance is lost
Lord, let me be wrong in this pain
Temporary pain, eternal shame
To take part in this devil’s chess game
Spit on me, let go, get rid of me
And try to survive your stupidity

Finally! Figured this would be up your alley. People should consider, when requesting songs, that it's not just about your personal favorite, it's more about what Nightwish songs (or any band for that matter) will these two be able to enjoy based on their musical tastes. Ghost Love Score is ONE of the best overall Nightwish songs and loved by most fans, but because it's more one of the mellow and grand scale songs, it can have less appeal to Nightwish "outsiders" (especially if they are going in blind and expecting some full on metal song). Basically, you gotta warm them to the band first with songs more to their general metal preference and then you can expand beyond those borders after.

A&P-REACTS Ghost Love Score is a musical experience, a song that shows just how great of a composer Tuomas is. Nightwish or Tuomas does not let his singer go easy, you have to be a good singer to come up to their standard, and Floor does that and way beyond. Listen to GLS from Argentina or from Tampere Finland, the song is a genius composing. Check out next song from this concert Song of Myself.

Totally agree with you. Ghost Love Score is awesome song, but it is too long and isn't the song that presents Nightwish so well (only my opinion)

Yes that is exactly what happens. Romanticide - again - is not the song I would make some listen first time on Nightwish. I had posted a "newbie" list for you guys on your Ghost Love Score video - you guys should really begin there first! Also if you wanna listen more to the guy singing try out Phantom of the Opera (it's a duet cover of the famous song) and The Islander. Pasting it here again: I think you guys completely took the wrong Nightwish song to start with. They do a whole bunch of different compositions (and they have had 3 different lead female singers + 1 male singer) but because you like Wintersun I am gonna recommend the following. Listen to one each from each set and then you can do down the list if you like: First Singer - The legendary soprano Tarja (more symphonic and edgy compositions - classic Nighwish Sound) 1. Wishmaster: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGxm0sOKkqmWidI.html 2. Nemo (Don't listen to the official version it is slowed down in tempo): kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3uLpM-Tnr3Km9o.html 3. Phantom of the Opera (This in my Opinion is their Sons of Winter and Stars): kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoqbrq2RdJCon7w.html 4. Bless the Child: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h2lmw6OaabnRdc4.html 5. The Kinslayer: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i3afxZShqM3Vdaw.html Second Singer - Annette Olzon (She was a great singer but completely different style - more jazzy and smooth. However, Nightwish stepped up their music quality and compositions during her time) 1. Storytime: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z5ts282KfLzUiJM.html 2. Amaranth: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZiO0JmkZdXAfLQ.html 3. Bye Bye Beautiful (Official version is slowed down): kzread.info/dash/bejne/lH9o1rCSY9mvhMY.html 4. Turn Loose the Mermaids: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dn6Hl8ltXdOZe5c.html 5. The Islander (Marko is singing in this one - and this is quite a beautiful ballad): kzread.info/dash/bejne/X2GoqKizZJfgpsY.html Current Singer - Floor Jansen (She is a pretty good singer who can belt soprano vocals (although not a good as Tarja) and does sing some early songs live. The only album she has sung in so far has been fantastic musically (it's based on Richard Dawkins' book Selfish Gene) and her voice suits it) 1. Elan: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rISj0MuodLzUn7w.html 2. The Greatest Show on Earth (This will give you feels like Wintersun's Time - pay attention to the drummer (; ): kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4h1w6eBmarQprg.html 3. My Walden: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fGyM2dRqm7erlM4.html 4. Endless Forms Most Beautiful kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKGppZOYh6mYnrQ.html 5. Shudder Before The Beautiful: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioKtm9SOZ6TUYJM.html I can confidently say that there are only two kinds of people in this world - one who like Nighwish, and others who haven't listened to Nightwish. (:

All I can say is, if you guys decide to view Nightwish songs more regularly, not to frame them in your minds as a straight up metal band and expect the songs to feature constant heavy metal sounds. That just isn't Nightwish. Instead, just know that every member of the band is exceptionally talented and appreciate the music/compositional execution that they achieve with their songs. You are getting a lot of requests here from people and many of these songs wont fit your "metal" perspective. So, as long as you know that Nightwish executes on many different levels and can at least appreciate the artistry involved, you should be fine. I'd just like to add that all 3 "eras" of Nightwish are valid despite what some of the fans may say. Tarja is on one end, Annette is on the opposite end and Floor sits in the middle able to do both with her own style.

Romanticide has always been one of my faves - it smokes! The main riff through the first half is borderline thrash, but you don't even realize it because the vocals are so beautiful. The Wacken concert didn't have the best sound production, but the videos are great. The best part about Romanticide is that Tarja sang it first, so you get 2 completely different takes on it.

Never clicked so fast before man, great video and one of my favourites by them. Especially this version, I dunno if you caught her siren scream in the bit where her and marco both scream towards the end. You should check out Yours is an empty hope, it's heavy and she growls in that one. Also ya have to appreciate the fact that Jukka (the drummer) was and is still suffering from terrible insomnia. So the guy is already tired and he performs like this for two hours, he deserves mad respect. And Floor Jansen had basically only been in the band a few months at this performance yet she sings these songs like their her own. Great video guys.

The guy on the keyboard is names Tuomas, the drummer is Jukka, guitarist is Emppu, bass guitar and male lead is Marco, and the newest member Troy who operates the pipes. There have been 3 lead singers, the latest of which is Floor Jansen(ranked no.1 female metal singer in the world) and in all they have about 130 songs to choose from dating all the way back to 1996.

If you want to check out how Hahto fits the group, I really wholeheartedly recommend Nightwish - Shudder before the beautiful live @ Wembley. Amazing concert overall and a great live song. Or if you want to experience something truly epic, that will rock your whole world, try Poet and the Pendulum from the same concert.

Oh yes! I never realized it until another commenter mentioned it, but all three Nightwish songs you've checked out so far are from the same album! It's titled "Once". There have been two women singers before the woman in these videos. All three of them have brought something unique to the table and the Nightwish anthology is so rich because of it. Not to mention Marco's vocal input! There has been a guest singer or two along the way in the albums as well. If you ever watch the live video for "Pharaoh Sails to Orion", you'll see a heavy song with a guest vocalist from before Marco's time in the band. It's a gooder. If you guys want to keep the heavy train rolling before looking at more of their mellow stuff, as I'm sure many people before me have commented, check out Pharaoh Sails to Orion, Weak Fantasy, Yours is an Empty Hope, 7 Days to the Wolves, Slaying the Dreamer, and maybe the live version of Fantasmic for something fast paced. Bah there's so much good stuff. All these should have live versions! A couple that are nice and heavy but aren't live are Master Passion Greed and The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean.

Floor and Marco are absolute beasts when it comes to live vocal performancers! Of course the rest of the band is awesome too for touring so many years they sure have experience to make a good live gig. If you like male-female vocal dialogue in music then I highly recommend Amaranthe. They have three singers so all the songs are kinda made to revolve around the interaction of those three. They are more from the poppish-side, like The Unguided you listened earlier, but damn their songs sure are well crafted and catchy!

Marco is a bass/supporting vocal legend! The first time I knew how good of a vocalist Marco is was on an older Nightwish song called Phantom of the Opera. It is obviously a cover of the song from the play/musical and Marco sings as the Phantom in a duet with the bands original/opera vocalist Tarja. Also, I take it you guys are still planning on seeing NIghtwish on the upcoming tour? I have my tickets for April already and after being into metal for over the last 15 years of my life now can say it will only be my second show ever, the first being Amon Amarth earlier last year. My region of the US has just more recently started getting metal acts finally after so many years.

As Marko Hietala was (still occasionally) a lead vocalist, bassist in Tarot mid 80's. His older bro (Zachary) was on lead guitar. Check out Tarot - Wings of Darkness, in case you already haven't. It's kinda awful to think he is 'just' a supporting vocalist. 🙈 He's been on many many other projects as well. All the way from Heavy Christmas, (Raskasta Joulua in Finnish) to his own band couple of years ago.

This is to the dad (don't think the son has the patience for it yet)--one afternoon, when you have the house to yourself and the time, watch the Tampere show from start to finish. Hopefully you have a nice big high def TV with a good home theater. Crank that puppy up, and get comfortable. From beginning to end, that show was epic, and other than the personal set list quibbles that some folks might have, the show really showcases how dynamic the band is, how many great songs they have in their catalog, and the pretty much superhuman ability that Floor Jansen has as a singer and front woman. Sure, it's not death metal, it's not Wintersun (my other favorite band besides NW, so I do love love love me some melodic death metal), Tuomas's ability to write memorable melodies and great arrangements for the songs is what makes the band so good, and this show delivers that in spades. Peace!

Yay, you did it! I love Nightwish with Floor Jansen. I never was a fan of Tarja. Mainly because she sounded always the same. I just prefer real opera. Tarja was always overflowing the music. However I wont deny that Tarja is talented. Not just my cup of tea. With Floor the music melting together and she is more of a metalhead. I love Annette with her new band project. Btw Anettes era has the most catchy songs. I cant wait for the new album with Floor. :) I guess you will like "Yours is an empty hope" too. Try some Oriental Metal btw! Still waiting for Myrath "Believer". They sound oriental and a bit power metal like.

I like some of Tarja's songs like, "she is my sin" and "cover me," but for the most part she's my least favorite of the three. She just seemed kinda...off with the rest of the bands sound.

Next: Nightwish, Poet And The Pendulum live at Wembley 2015. Thanks :) EDIT. This Wacken concert is bit shorter including "suits better for the festivals" type of songs than their usual set (although they were headliners of that particular day in Wacken). Wacken set included 15 songs + intro & outro. Usually their set is like 17-19 songs of which 2-3 are longer songs like Ghost Love Score, Poet And the Pendulum etc. If you want to do one more song from THIS show, I recommend Song of myself (as you WERE talking about poetry, that is most poetic song of the setlist in addition to GLS). Setlist in Wacken was (Showtime, Storytime dvd): 1. "Dark Chest of Wonders" 4:33 2. "Wish I Had An Angel" 4:49 3. "She Is My Sin" 4:55 4. "Ghost River" 6:05 5. "Ever Dream" 5:21 6. "Storytime" 5:38 7. "I Want My Tears Back" 6:44 8. "Nemo" 4:45 9. "Last of the Wilds" 6:32 10. "Bless the Child" 7:06 11. "Romanticide" (music: Holopainen, Marco Hietala) 5:40 12. "Amaranth" 4:26 13. "Ghost Love Score" 10:31 14. "Song of Myself" 7:53 15. "Last Ride of the Day" 4:34 16. "Outro: Imaginaerum" (music: Holopainen, Pip Williams)

If you want more Marco(the bassist) I suggest checking out anything from Dark Passion Play or Imaginaerum, the 2 albulms they made with their second vocalist. She wasn't as bombastic or skilled as Floor or Tarja the first singer, so Marco really got a chance to shine. There's a few music videos out there or you can do live versions with Anette or Floor. I siggest the video for Storytime or funding a lyric videp for Master Passion Greed(that one is all Marco). Also I second their Phantom cover from the End of an Era concert

You guys should check out Wish I Had an Angel from the same show or the End of an Era show. That show was the last one with Tarja Turunen, their first singer, and Wish I Had was the show's finale. The song is also from the same album than Romanticide. For the second singer, Anette Olzon, it's gonna be difficult because no official live material has been released but you can look out for festivals like Wacken 2008, the show was captured with cameras for TV broadcasting. On that show, you can look out for The Poet & the Pendulum, WARNING : the song is 14 minutes long.

It's cool you got into Jukka Nevalainen, the drummer...cause I think he is/was the coolest double-bass drummer I've heard in a long time since Scott Travis, drummer for Judas Priest. Travis' playing on the Painkiller album back in the early 90's gave Priest a much needed kick in the ass following the departure of Dave Holland, who was adequate but not flashy. Getting back to Nightwish, unfortunately, Jukka had to leave the band a few years ago cause he was suffering from a terrible case of insomnia and replaced by his pal Kai Hahto. He's a great double-bass drummer, but Jukka remains my favorite and I've been wanting Jukka to return to Nightwish.

Suggesting songs: Pyre of Gods, Ashes to the Stars, Follow the Blind, I Rule, and Wings of Darkness (versions from 80s and 2011 for variation). As for Nightwish, Marco is especially amazing in Phantom of the Opera (End of an Era), High Hopes (End of an Era), The Islander (official vid), Bye Bye Beautiful (official vid), Wish I had an Angel (official vid/End of an Era).

My first touch with Nightwish was Elvenpath with Tarja Turunnen. She was the first vocalist of Nightwish and Tuomas, which is 90% of Nightwish composing around her voice. Everdream would be a good intro but... Anywhing Nightwish did with Tarja was gold.

You really must do Song of myself from the same concert. It's probably the heaviest, darkest song in the entire setlist. In this song Jukka, the drummer is at the top of his height. You gotta check him out. Also if you want to see what a marvelous lead singer the bass player Marco Hietala is you have to do their Pink Floyd cover High Hopes from the concert End of an Era. It's amazing. Lots of regards from Turkey.

Firstly, at the time that was a kinda emergency replacement singer for Nightwish. And Floor was so awesome, that they kept her for future albums : ) And stole your favorite drummer from Wintersun in the process : ) I personally think that her range is best utilized here at Wacken show, far better than their latest album, kinda written for her specifically. In my opinion of course. Please do review of something from their newer show at Tampere. Or more Epica. Or do Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down, there are both of them : )

if you want something a big heavier from the older era and you want to hear male singer and the very first singer as well then go for "Slaying the dreamer" and "Planett Hell" ... if you want to hear properly what are the skills of the first singer then go for "Phantom of the opera" (yes it is the cover) ... all three are best from End of An Era, that was very last concert with the first singer Tarja ... if you want to hear a most famous song from the era with Tarja then go for "Nemo" ... you can chose the version from End of An Era as well ... but I cannot promise that you will love Nemo that much but at least that one caused that I am a huge fan of Nightwish :-)

one more thing ... there was another singer before the one you know ... but unfortunatelly they made same pressure on her like on the first one (the first one was trained classical singer) so the result was not that good live ... but when she had enough time to prepare for the concert she sang well ... but honestly the music from her era (her name is Anette) is probably the best ... the album with Floor (the singer from the video you just posted) ... it is not as good as previous ones ... it is good but most of NW fans expected more :-)
