    The housing problem across America is Zoning Boards interfering and stealing property rights of land owners. People should be able to build whatever type of home they can afford on their own property without all the regulations that steal their rights to do so. These various building control boards on towns and cities want to keep property values high, so they can get highest taxes against such property owners. Low income people, even if they own a lot or piece of land, are then denied the use of their land to put a smaller structure on. It is a form of government power denial of their ownership rights to their own properties.

  • @DarthMaui

    @DarthMaui

    Ай бұрын

    The ship had electrical problems for days. Tugs don't solve maintenance issues. Laws need to be in place such that dangerous system failures are penalized. If you take tugs out on every container ship, that massively increases cost, when the ships can guide themselves just fine when they are maintained. Your idea doesn't even address the actual issue, is extremely costly, and when the ship ends up in the next port it will present the same dangers unless you want tugs to pull them in too. Why is it not more natural for you think, "Ships need to be properly maintained or there are legal consequences?" This feels obvious.

    Seems like poor engineering, to me. They designed the bridge to handle the traffic loads and wind conditions, but did not consider other real-life situations. Those supporting columns were probably plenty strong under vertical compression, but were fragile under impact and instantly failed under side impact. I'm sure this was just an accident, but would point out that this type of construction is a big invitation to terrorist attacks.

    Oh yeah? You spend a lot of time down by the docks? How many tugboats have you seen in the last 20 years. This is another old fart living in the past. Doesn't have a clue about how ships actually work in 2024.

  • @DarthMaui

    @DarthMaui

    Ай бұрын

    As much as crapping on people online is fun when necessary, your comment is not correct. Tugs are more than common. It's just not a cost efficient way or helpful way to solve the problem. Ship technology hasn't changed a wink in 20 years, and tugs are as common as ever. I advise using resources like Gemini or ChatGPT if you have a hard time with googling for facts before dumping on people. Online, some people really deserve it. But today, it's actually you. Facts matter. Research matters. If you are going to be crappy, fine. But be right first. You are literally on the internet, and you can't be bothered to check if tugs are common. Whether someone spent time at the docks doesn't matter. The trend is for larger ships to be built, but for waterways to be more efficient. So it is nuanced, but larger ships trend toward a GREATER need for tugs, while in more efficient waterways they are less needed in harbor. I could cite my sources, but I at least looked it up. You are wrong, and definitely you are being a jerk. You can't be both. You should apologize to the person you insulted because of this. Good luck, sailor. @@dougkester8952

No offense to Lester Holt or you, but returning to the trough right after the well is poisoned is outright asking to be abused. And if you are concerned with the wealthy in Florida, take it up with the madman Desantis, who is more interested in putting migrants on buses than helping you at all. Tug service for a container ship can range from $5,000 to $30,000 per session or more. So this is just a really really bad idea. Inefficient, doesn't require ships to be maintained, etc.
