CDC: Three women likely infected with HIV while getting 'vampire facial' at unlicensed spa

The CDC is detailing what it says is the first known cases of HIV transmitted by "vampire facial" injections. In a joint investigation with the CDC and New Mexico's health officials, investigators say they found a rack of unlabeled tubes of blood on a kitchen counter and unwrapped needles in the trash can.

    Today people who are HIV+ can reduce their viral load to zero with medication and live as long a life as anyone else. We should be concerned for the people who may have been infected and not know it. Undiagnosed HIV is what leads to the development of AIDS as well as the transmission of the virus, which does not occur when viral load is zero. Everyone should be tested.

    This is not about natural or unnatural. This is about hygiene and infection control. This can happen with non-cosmetic procedures if the staff is simply not following standard infection control protocols. A Massachusetts hospital in just November of 2023 literally exposed 450 patients to HIV and hepatitis C through iv medication administration during standard endoscopy procedures. This is about hygiene, not vanity.

I find it hard to believe that if you're using the Client's blood, that HIV transmission would happen that many times from accidentally using the wrong needle. I think this facility was using other people's blood on their clients' faces and that's why they have the number of transmitted cases they do. I think this is far more than negligence but gross malpractice.

    That means one of their customers had HIV and first spread it to the machine they use, is my guess. Also, their bad sterilization practices. Now the question should be, did the first customer know they had HIV and do this? Should this be a procedure limited to healthcare providers, and require a test for diseases? There needs to be more regulation for this.

    They separate your plasma from the red blood cells , and only use the plasma I think .It’s theoretically supposed to accelerate the regeneration of your skin cells , your body has just been stabbed in the face a bunch of times so it goes into attempted healing mode , so it’s using natural response to injury to restore your skin, with the growth factors in the plasma to speed the healing process along. I wouldn’t do it personally.

  • @jessicaolson490

    @jessicaolson490

    It probably has nothing to do with regeneration at all. So the albumin in your blood is in the clear part (serum). It's a big protein that pulls water towards it (It's what helps keep your blood full of fluid). I bet you almost certainly it's the osmotic pressure of the album and pulling water into the tissue they injected into. So literally all you're doing is shifting water into that tissue which is temporarily smoothing out the wrinkles. Seems like a completely dangerous and unnecessary procedure to achieve that result.. :|
