I collected Night Lords in the 90s. Painting lightning was a bitch as you had to make sure they don´t look like forks or plant roots.

Fellow Chaos collector here. Although the 3.5 Codex was the best Chaos Codex in terms of army-building, I do think 6th edition was the peak of the Chaos "aesthetic", as is shown here. Hard to believe that those days were 20 and 10 years ago, respectively. Wow.

I have also acquired through random purchases of lots a decent NL Oldhammer Army. Love the older chaos sculpts.

ive been collecting chaos space marines for about 10 years (word bearers) and i adore the classic sculpts with the over the top horns and tusks. quick maths informs me youve got about 940 points. not including the 6th terminator.

Night lords always been my fave chaos space marine army but in past was terrible at painting them!

Funny. I was just today considering grabbing a few Raptors from the secondary market, to paint as Night Lords. Not to start a whole army, I don't think. Not yet, anyway. But just for the sake of having another warband for skirmish games, like Grimdark Future: Firefight. A mobile contingent of melee troops would contrast well against my Fallen, Drukhari Kabalites, and Tzeentch Horrors.

Awesome. The Marines Malevolent ended up serving a similar purpose for me. Needed a chapter with potentially substandard recruiting practices and no terminators. I like to think they’re Night Lords.

Lightning is the finger of God! It is lightning that carved the Ten Commandments into the stone tablets on mount Sinai. You brother Matthew are a "Gift of God" so it's no surprise that you like lightning brother.🤔 The term for Chaos Marines is "Heretics!!!" at least to me that is. The Chaos Marine you called "Their Champion!" I would like to duel to the death with, i only ask for a power sword, no Bolter needed! I want to be in close, to see the darkness fall away from his eyes as i cut him down!!!😁 A nice display army you have created brother Matthew and nicely painted too, even if it's not for the tabletop. Also why are dinner ladies all miserable old Man Beasts? I mean, is it a job requirement to hire bulky, fugly creatures to serve slop to children? Who knows! Another excellent video brother.👍

I recently built a slaanesh war and out of old chaos sculpts.something so satisfying about getting those old minis out of the pile of shame and onto the shelves of honor.I have no plans to ever play them but looking good on the shelf is good enough according to them.loved the video.

I'm watching this, reminiscent of the tournament I won. I literally bought nurgle for a kill team tournament, made what I thought would be the best army, painted it up the best way I could night lords style and even gave each model red wings on the helmets... got first place and sold the entire army the next day for like double what I paid... now I sit here with my dead friends half painted nurgle army watching your video and the light bulb turned on... I know what I must do

That's a warband to be proud of, great work - and you've definitely got my attention with that tease of a pukka oldhammer warband. I'd suggest 'a heresy of chaos space marines' for the collective noun, not very creative, but the classics are classic because they work. As you often do, besides showcasing your minis, you really take me back to the old days, poring over those Eavy Metal pages in the old codices and White Dwarf - I remember well those photos you featured. I just picked up the new Tyranid codex and, like the 9th edition ones I have, the showcase pages just don't seem as attention-grabbing as the old ones - all those staged 'battle' shots taking up half of every page, when all I really want is a Brady Bunch looking grid of individual minis, to really study each one and get ideas from, with plenty of varied colour schemes and conversions like the used to do; not a conversion in sight with the new Nids, and only a couple of bugs in a different colour scheme to the Leviathan one (I kind of suspect just because they didn't have newly-painted examples of those miniatures so they went back to old ones kept in storage from when Behemoth was the 'standard' colours). I'm still taking inspiration from the 2nd and 3rd edition chaos codices today for conversions, whether directly, or just the impression they left that chaos warbands are an open invitation to go to town on your minis. I'm sure you don't have to worry about that Slaaneshi chap in the ranks, it just means he really enjoys being a Night Lord - I've actually got a former Night Lord in my own warband, with a armour on their assault cannon still blue with lighting bolts, so they balance out.

A group of Chaos Space Marines is colloquially known as a "clusterfuck".

Awesome night lords Matthew! I actually don't collect chaos marines but through job lots i also have ended up with a handful or two of them....and lo and behold....they have made excellent little projects to de-chaos-ify for lack of a better term.....and use them in my dark angels. For example, an old pewter ahriman and another chaos sorcerer became librarians after some head swaps and some cutting and filing....and i have a chaplain converted from a pewter kharn the betrayer.....and there's a couple of pewter chaos terminators and plastic marines bits to work with still.....among a few others....but all that cool trim on the armour and unique backpacks and even their weapons become quite useful when trying to kitbash veterans or techmarines or lieutenants and whatnot. Great work and here's to seeing more of it in the future! Cheers!

Legionnaires are viable at the bare minimum. Not as good as aome other options but way more viable than they were in 8th
