Best amateur coach in South Africa bar none. Booysens club is a great place for kids. My sons spent many years there and my grandson is getting ready to start. How time flies. Nikki and Uncle Herbie were the lifeblood if the club. Hopefully they get to go to Denmark. Uncle Herbie eas excellent at the finances and logistics. Msybe a sponsor can ve found.

When I was bullied in school, I asked my grandad to teach me how to box (he was a boxer in his youth) and he sent me to Booysens (behind the Jack Eustice hall). I was 17 when I started, and only competed a couple of years and only had a handful of fights, some wins some losses, mainly because of my nerves, but it taught me enough to stand up for myself and finally get some respect! I would hitchhike all the way from Glanferness (Kyalami) if I couldn’t get a lift because the love I had for boxing, and this club just grew to that level! Nicky Ness became a good friend and a mentor in the ring! He’s the best coach a young man could ever hope for!! Very fond memories!!!
