On the last play you didn't put your outside corner on a deep half during gun bunch. So this kinda confused me cus earlier in the video you specified to do so in gun bunch.

Hey man! Sorry for not seeing this sooner. The only difference is that you maybe don't need to QB contain for current gen, but I would try them both and see which one works better. On next gen I definitely recommend QB containing since the RB can't block the blitzing linebacker

Hey Julian! It can be a struggle to get the adjustments off in time, but if you practice "quick adjustments" then it's certainly possible. If you're clicking around to each player to make each adjustment though, then I definitely think you'll have a tough time.

I have found that if they are quick snapping its likely a run or obviously a pretty stock pass play so sometimes you dont even need to get all the adjustments off in time. If they are doing any changes pre-snap you will have ample time to get the adjustments made

Great video Goose! On your redzone defence, how do you quickly switch your user assignment? The stock assignment is for the MLB to be manned up against someone (usually RB), but I see your final play has them blitzing with the LOLB man assigned.

That's a great catch, and something I should've mentioned in the video! Unfortunately there's no secret trick other than quick adjustments (double tap right on the d-pad and select the linebacker to put him on an individual assignment). Although honestly with the rise of scrambling QBs right now I'd recommend putting that defender in a QB spy rather than manning up the TE. The flat zones are out there for if the TE goes to the outside, and if he comes to the middle you can guard him with the user. I'll probably have to make an updated 335 Wide Ebook because I've tweaked things a bit over the last couple months!

Hey man! Weak box is entirely based on either 1) the formation you come out in (Dime/Dollar/Quarters) vs the formation they come out in (whether it's a heavy set) or 2) the number of defenders on a blitz assignment, and QB contains would be considered blitz assignments. So as long as you have at least three players on blitz/contain assignments and you're not in a formation that will get weak boxed vs a heavy set, then you have nothing to worry about!

Hey Drew! Five yard flats will (in theory) play the RB in the flat and also cover the drag once it gets across to that side of the field. If you want to guard the drag over the middle, you'll need a yellow (hook) zone for that.

Hey Zach! Sorry for the confusion. Crashing the d-line inside is the same as slanting the d-line inside, so left on the d-pad and down on the right stick

Another good question! I like Cover 2 Man because it gives us the option of leaving the slot CB manned up on the inside WR or TE (which if they're on a streak could be a major threat to a Cover 2 shell), also because of the man alignment your opponent is likely expecting man coverage and will put man beating routes on the field, but you're actually playing a blanket zone

How do you put the linebackers in curl flats? When I hit the dpad right two times it does not put them in curl flats

Hey man! Double tapping the d-pad pulls up the quick adjustments menu for the linebackers. From there you have to select a linebacker and then hit right on the left stick to put him in a curl flat.

Is this a good scheme for current gen? I am having trouble stopping the heavier run formations out of this defensive formation.

I actually think it's better for current gen than next gen! Run defense can be tough though. Have you seen my video from last year on gap shoots? Against heavy run formations I would probably run something like Big Nickel Over G and try to gap shoot up the middle (pinch the d-line, slant them outside, stand two yards above the center with your user and then come through the gap).

Goose you are totally right. You actually can stop most runs with 335 wide gap shoot technique. There are a few inside runs that are tough to shoot but overall it works well if you practice.

It's called Pass Balanced in MUT 😉 At some point this year I'll release a Spread ebook, but for now if you check my older videos I did a free Spread ebook for Madden 21. It doesn't all carry over, but Stack Y Off and Gun Doubles Offset Wk definitely carry over. But the really glitchy run is in Gun Wing Slot Wk

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but in the Balanced Run playbook there is a place called Pump HB Draw in the Singleback Ace formation that seems similar to what you're describing

Hey man! Quick adjustments is the only way to do it as far as I know. I promise that with practice you'll get really fast at it! Makes sure you're using quick adjustments (so for linemen and linebackers, double tap left or right on the d-pad to pull up their icons) rather than clicking onto each player individually

Does this still work and does it work on old gen? Also do you have a written version of this?

It does still work! Unfortunately the zones play pretty poorly on next gen, but that's just a problem with every next gen defense. I'd say it's even better in current (old) gen

I should have mentioned it, but either of the blitz setups also end up being pretty good run defense. Gap shoots are too risky to attempt on next gen in my opinion, so you can just move your user laterally to match the direction they're running

Let’s say your opponent goes for 2 and they run a pass play like levels sail or something. They have josh Allen and chances are they just run it in, slightly to the left or right. Any tactics to stop that? Or just sit there and take it?

Hey man! The *best* chance is to have QB contains and a QB spy on the field, and if he breaks the contains then try to click onto the nearest defender and make the user tackle. But it really is a shitshow lol

Hey man! Match coverage is a certain kind of coverage where the defender assignments depend on the routes the receivers run. A simple way to think about it is that it starts off as zone and turns into man coverage. Cover 4 Palms & Cover 4 Quarters are both different versions of match coverage, while Cover 4 Drop is a true zone coverage.

My biggest thing about this... I never have time to make all these changes before my opponent snaps the ball

Defense feels nearly impossible this year because zones are SO BAD. They hardly react to anything, and when you finally do have someone in the right spot, it feels like you always drop the pick lol. So definitely be prepared to give up a decent amount of points, but I think this defense gives you a great chance of coming up with a few stops

Why do you spread D-line? I thought It could come anyway if you Crash Up and contain

Hey man! You are correct that the blitz will come in even if you don't spread the d-line. However, what I've noticed in my games is that if your opponent tries to immediately roll out of the pocket, the contains perform much better (as in they actually contain the QB) if you spread the d-line. So yep, the blitz will come in either way, but I think spreading the d-line makes it a better overall defensive setup!

Hey man! Setting a zone drop will tell your defenders in those zone types to drop to exactly that depth. So if you set "flats" to 25, then all hard flats, cloud flats, and soft squats will drop to 25 yards depth and sit there. Does that make sense?

Hey man! In the Nickel 335 formation, sub your safeties in at all three linebackers spots. Call a play in 335, and then when you break the huddle, audible to whatever play you want in Nickel 335 Wide.

Hey Mike! If you're in regs then just keep scrolling past all the teams and you'll see the alternate playbooks (which includes 46). In MUT there's a fantasy pack for alternate defenses (although sadly it gives you a random one rather than the one you want) or you can buy it from the auction house.

Yes! You can buy it from the auction house or get it in a fantasy pack, although the fantasy packs will give you one RANDOM alternate defense, so I'd just buy it from the auction house if you can afford it

@@treymundell Interesting. I know this might sound obvious but the next thing I'd check is to make sure you have enough safeties in your lineup. You'll need at least one safety in your specialists or special teams who isn't already a starter

When I made the video I felt like spreading the line helped it come in better, but the game gets tweaked over the course of the year so it's certainly possible that pinching is better now. I'd say try them both and do whichever one is working better!

It takes some practice! Are you familiar with quick adjustments where you can put all the adjustments on while staying on your user? Once you get those mastered you can make adjustments really fast
