Nick Wright on Villanova dominating the NCAA Men's Basketball tourney | FIRST THINGS FIRST

In his reaction to Jay Wright notching his 2nd title after Villanova crushed the Michigan Wolverines to win the 2018 Men's NCAA basketball title, Nick Wright reveals to Cris Carter and Jenna Wolfe how Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Donte DiVincenzo were able to trail blaze through the tournament and cap off their successful run with a dominant victory.

    yes likely with all the 1 and dones taking away from comodery of teams. They will keep alot nore players than other teams. Teams with players knowing there only on a team for a year are more worried about injuries than winning

    Philly won't repeat next year just because the NFC just got way better. The Rams defense is legit and they have a good offense and if they get Odell they will be favored to go to the Super Bowl. Don't forget about the Saints and the Vikings as well.

    KC1324 To be the best you got to beat the best which those other teams in the NFC aren't. Those moves surely won't scare the Eagles and unless any other beat them their still considered to repeat and still have the crown.

    Its not 5 first rounders. Or the top 2 picks coming from the same school. Its not 4 lottery picks. It is pretty good but its not what Calipari churns out.

    Who cares about what Calipari "churns out"? He can't even win a 2nd championship with the players he has, like coach Wright.

    neetrab look at the comment that started the thread and tell me that it’s more impressive than what Cal does... if Cal wins a second championship before Wright wins a third then he’s better because of those players that he churns out

    James Lawson i think it stifles their growth. If Villanova wins or is close nect year people will begin to imitate. Most college coaches would have forced that center to the basket. Would have forced thier players to slow down. He lets them play. They dont leave early because they like it there. Playing in those set offenses must feel like a cage for talented players

    Everyone looks sharp this morning. I noticed @0:05 Nick and the Villanova coach must shop for shirts from the same store. I really wanted to see Loyola win it all but it was one he'll of a ride. Also also we all won because Duke wasn't even a factor and everyones brackets were done after the first round except those underground analyst who charge you 5k for a perfectly picked bracket.

    Well yeah he won two championships in the last 3 years but he’s been there since 2001. So if you’re gonna say that he has won more in the last 3 years than Kansas in 60, or duke in 20, you gotta start from ‘85 when nova won its last one until 3 years ago. I like Jay Wright but no need to make him sound like the greatest coach ever after 3 good years(not sayin he’s only had 3 but you get the point).

    Robby Glenn I'm not a huge nova fan but look at his wins since 2001, he's racked up a ton of wins and good seasons along with tournament runs. Not saying he's the greatest but he's making a name for himself if you look at his entire career.

  • @neetrab

    @neetrab

    6 жыл бұрын

    Robby Glenn - John Wooden was at UCLA for 16 years before he started winning 10 titles in a row. Jay's been at Nova since 01'' (like you said) and he's on the same path. College was different back then as there were no one and dones during John's time, so Jay's path will be harder, but he is still the best coach TODAY. He's done it with a different set of players in a very short period of time. Who wins the championship with almost all different players 2 out of 3 years? Yes, a couple of them were on the 16' team, but came off the bench. There was only 1 starter (1 STARTER) from the 2016 championship team that played on this Nova team.

  • @neetrab

    @neetrab

    Yea UNC, Duke have been awesome though, since 85, they have spread out their championships having great teams pretty much every yr since 85, they are not schools that just throw together a couple championships in a quick span and die down, we will see how Nova continues and where they are at in 20-30 yrs. UNC also has the most final four appearances of any other school, with 20, relax on UNC haha Nova isn't in the same league as a UNC or Duke, not yet, they have a ways to go. Lets just relax on Villanova.

  • @neetrab

    @neetrab

    6 жыл бұрын

    Mike Bird you can relax but I bet you Nova fans won't. "we will see how Nova continues and where they are at in 20-30 years." -- i think it really depends on if Jay Wright stays at Nova for another 20 years or not. Coach K's been at Duke forever, SINCE 1980, I believe. Give Jay time. John Wooden didn't start his legacy until about his 16th year, then won 10 titles. It really does depend on how long he stays at the school.

    I'm the biggest Nova fan but..was this a rigged tournament to give Nova the best chance to win? I mean... 1) in the beginning Nova had (what people said) was the easiest bracket. 2) the NCAA obviously didn't want any team that was named in the report of corrupt schools being investigated by the FBI to win the title. They want a model team to represent as the champion. 3) People claim certain calls didn't go their way, but went Nova's way.What do you think?

    lol just trying to make a conversation. Yes, it's for real and I've heard people in the media say they had the easiest bracket...(this was before they knew they had to face Kansas and WVU). The beginning of the tourney, that's what they said. Plus, I def think the NCAA wanted a team that wasn't in the investigation to be the champion. Some players were named in the investigation though, from what I heard.
