I saw Rockpile in a dingy dark little club venue in Houston back in 78 or 79. My guy friends wanted to stay and talk to the band and I was a 17 yo (under-age) and was smitten with Nick. Dave was super charming, hung out and chatted and even went out back for a smoke with us after the gig. Nick was stand-offish, which both disappointed and was a relief to me. I wouldn't have been able to get 2 coherent words out of my mouth. Still a bit smitten by the way. :)

+neveramberdrummer You're saying Williams replaced Withers in DS? I ask only 'cause as far as I knew Withers did at least the first couple (maybe more?) of LP's w/DS. No issue, really, both are good, tight drummers, perfect for moving such snappy tunes along. And imho this take of "Crackin' up" benefits from the bass and drums doing the heavy lifting.

In reality they were on several albums, just not under that name. They were on a good chunk of Nick Lowe's PURE POP FOR NOW PEOPLE, all of LABOR OF LUST, a portion of Dave Edmunds' GET IT (without Billy Bremner), all of TRACKS ON WAX 4, REPEAT WHEN NECESSARY, most all of TWANGIN' and all of Carlene Carter's MUSICAL SHAPES album, along with members of Huey Lewis' News in 1980. So, they were around from 1977 to 1981. They only did shows under the "Rockpile" name. They finally put out SECONDS OF PLEASURE in late 1980, and then broke up in early 1981.
