I saw Rockpile in a dingy dark little club venue in Houston back in 78 or 79. My guy friends wanted to stay and talk to the band and I was a 17 yo (under-age) and was smitten with Nick. Dave was super charming, hung out and chatted and even went out back for a smoke with us after the gig. Nick was stand-offish, which both disappointed and was a relief to me. I wouldn't have been able to get 2 coherent words out of my mouth. Still a bit smitten by the way. :)

Dave Edmunds has a great voice. I love how he he harmonizes with Lowe.
...things are so much better now... Thanks Nick one of the best songer sing writers in the Engrish language
So underrated! Saw him with Jools Holland. Brilliant!
0:00 Cracking up 2:58 Raging eyes. Just the same as on the DVD enclosed on Quiet please
damn good stuff, love Dave Edmunds on here too
I didn't know Paul Carrack played with Nick Lowe. Never heard Ragin' Eyes before either... There is still a lot of great music from this era I missed somehow.

+jmlynd I was lucky enough to win tickets to see Nick Lowe play at my school (San Jose State) in late 82 or early 83. I was surprised Carrack was in the band, and they even played "Tempted".

There are a number of live clips with Lowe, Carrack and John Hiatt playing together
This whole album is one of the best of all time! Can't say that for the rest of his playing career except for a couple he played at Daryl's house. Comments were not allowed on Big Kick Plain Scrap but deserves equal opportunity. Great Producer with early Pretenders!
Hypnotic, brilliant.
saw rockpile in june of 80 sandwiched between bob marley and fleetwood mac in ktown, w germany. nice
Effing everything i love w/this song
Fantastic, bonus track too, well cool.
Thanks for posting! One of the all time greats!
Nine years old i was in June 1979! At junior two! I called this BIKERS MUSIC!
Great...! Thanks :)
This song ages well.
Whenever you see Nick, make sure to shake his hand and say, "Howdy!"
I have the same Danelectro bass , the" NRBQ " model, the " Dolphin Nose" 1449....also cool , Nick is playin' a Harmony Bobkat, keyboard guy using the a Wurly 200A. BTW, one of the greatest Nick Lowe song ever !
Fucking great as always Nick. Love the 8-string bass!
It would be great if we could get the "Ragin' Eyes" out as a separate video!

ROCKPILE
Early 70's ... Great hard rock out of Britain .. Humble Pie .. then came the progressive rock phase .. Yes .. Genesis .. and then the PUNKS .. and then .. what a relief .. guys like Elvis Costello, Nick Low and Dave Edmuds ..
Perfetta sintesi musicale che miscela i sixties dei Creedence con le sonorità strumentali e vocali dei last seventies: a first sight love in rock music!!
very good
This needs to be the American Election Anthem 2024. Exactly how I feel: "it's a choice between a Douche and a Taco that Shits Ice Cream..."(South Park ref, in case ya didn't notice). "I don't think it's funny no more...." Pretty much, Nick. Why aren't you playing Portland, Or w/ Elvis and Dave? C'mon now: Dates!!🙏🏽🎶🎄

Awesome song. Also "Big Kick, Plain Scrap"
June 1979. I was in Junior Two! Teacher like Francis De Woolf. Very scary Irishman Mr Saunders! But to cheer me up we had Nick Lowe imitating Dire Straits Sultans of Swing!

get what you mean about Dire Straits, but Sultans of Swing ? Think you need a hearing aid or a lobotomy
Hell yes 2020
It's late '11 & I'm STILL diggin' this tune forever! Thanks for the post. Being a fan of Cale, Knopfler and CCR I see the parallels here. Like it? You MUST check out Little Village's "She Runs Hot For Me" here on the tube. Lowe, John Hiatt, Ry Cooder and Jim Keltner just tearing it up.

@@UberLummox I agree. I was disappointed with Little Village. One or two songs were okay, but the rest was blah. A situation of “too many cooks”.

Rockpile were4 talented lads. I like this one best.
Raging Eyes is from The Abominable Snowman LP, 1983.
! From Nick's Labour of Lust LP; It's essentially Rockpile with Dave on-board. ;)
@1ndi64 His looks here go exactly hand in hand with the mood of the song (not happy and worn-out looking). Amazing!
Crackin’ up de Paul McCartney. Saludos a los fanáticos de los tres. La mejor banda de rock chilena
Followed by Ragin' Eyes
