I lost my eldest cat Mischa who I’d had for 17 yrs, more than half my life, my guardian angel, to tracheal cancer before Xmas last year. I lost my 2nd eldest cat, Chiba, a rescue born with a myriad of health problems and a facial deformity, but who lived her 14 yrs purring through whatever she had to go through, to complete kidney failure a month later. I sang this song to both before they were euthanised. And I sing it all the time to my thankfully very healthy boy cat Charlie and my little kitten Coco Camellia all the time. It’s the most perfect expression of how I feel about them. About love.

I wouldn't say I believe in the mystic.. but for some reason this song came to me today although I had not heard it in years. One year ago, out of the blue, I was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. Science is beating cancer but it is rough. It has been 2 years since you wrote this note so I hesitate to wish you both the best but either way, if you see this note, just know that for a few moments I believed that there was a reason I thought of this song today and wanted to hear it.

This is music. People together sharing a moment in unison. Beautiful. Thank you Nick Cave.

Of course it's a great song and of course it's one of the most pure love songs ever written. The real take away was how good the audience was! Only singing at the chorus, quite through the verses. If you listen you can hear so much excitement before the first chorus, but they realized they stepped on the pianos chorus melody and they dialed it back for the second chorus to hear it. This is a perfect performance all around.

Every time I listen to this song and to many other songs of Nick Cave, I fall in tears instantly. I'm so happy to be living in the world where this guy exists. So happy that I witnessed his performance twice. And I will visit the third soon when he comes to Helsinki. Pure love.

my cat, hugo, would always sleep in my arms. he'd purr, and i'd check his breathing because i've had an angel taken from me once too. he'd have these cute inhales and exhales. he's my everything. yesterday, my family had him confined at the vet. i was in college and islands away. i asked friends and family to pray for him because i am an agnostic. this song has been my favorite since i watched "about time". and i can't believe that i didn't beg god to bring hugo into my arms again. my dad called and told me hugo died earlier at 1:00 am. my heart is shattering right now. i want hugo to come back into my arms again.

I sat in my car many years ago in the early -90 when I heard it for the first time, they played this on the radio and I had to drive to the side, stop the car and just listen while crying. This version is the most wonderful with the great audience and Nicks capability to make the song feel new. Amazing!

I just LOOOOOOOOVE this song, discussing 'passing away" , religion , 'the afterlife' this is THE song that myself, my family and my loved ones have differing views on. It is by far one of my favourites and I've expressed that if anything were to happen to me I would like this played at my funeral......my poor husband can't even make it through the full song without being in tears ! I had it played at both my mum and dads funerals ( they passed away 11 months apart in the same year) , I was hoping and praying it would guide them 'back to each other' .

I can’t believe this song has passed me by for so long, I heard it watching War of the Worlds where it’s used extensively. I’ve since listened to it A LOT, and it’s flown up there as one of my favourite songs ever written. It’s a masterpiece and so beautiful.

I listened to his discography chronologically, and I really enjoyed the stuff from 84-94, but "Murder Ballads" and "The Boatman's Call"... These albums are something else. Simply astonishing.
