It’s hard to believe that such a simple, lyrically sparse song can bring me to tears, thinking of loved ones I’ve lost, while also giving me the hope and strength to face another day. This may be the most perfect song, and this may be the most perfect performance of it. He even reminds me of the power of gratitude, when he thanks the other musicians near the end. To borrow a couple lines, this song is everything I came for and it gets me right down to my soul.

Once, maybe twice in a lifetime we hear a song that just make us stop, listen, and then listen again and sometimes when we are in a bad place in our lives or a good place we remember that song, this is one of the songs, thank you Nick Cave for being a musical genius.
Cave, Springsteen, Brown, Bowie, Belafonte, Lydon, Strummer... best performers i ever saw.... And NO ONE does what Cave does better than Cave... he's Mephistopheles incarnate.... and now he's aging into spiritual anthems, kind of Leonard Cohen-izing himself.... I saw him tonight and loved it; but he has certainly evolved...

Danke Nick Cave.
That nearly bought me to tears. The version with the French kids was so good but this was its equal. I used to go to Nick's gigs over 40 years ago and everyone there was a punk but nowadays they're all dressed in suits and he's surrounded by classical musicians.
I am not a religious person but this touches my soul.
The emotion and beauty of this performance is almost unreal, I'm not even trying to describe it with words. It's beyond that.
Every time I’m coming back to this song I’m just speechless
The greatest musical experience in my life, so many decades....
this is the most choking version of this wonderful song! I heard it a million times before..., but with this "sound" and with its given force and power the song gets into the sky literally. Saying this while disliking mostly those highly overdosed "string versions". THIS here is a pure Nick Cave as it gets to the sentimental roots of the song.
This is a True Testament of his work as a Human and Performer. The Man and his Band are standing on a unbelievable Height.
I love my Nick Cave moments. He is like reading T.S. Eliot or listening to Chopin. He is intimate and makes solitude monumental.

@@theresa450 more love than I've ever given anyone. Really.
I sat on stage with Nick Cave I'll simply never forget it pure genius at work.
If I had to name a favorite NC song, this would be it.
this was the second Nick Cave song recommended to me by a special friend… and i am always thankful for it because it’s always a good song 😇
