At least the ‘chute came out while he was on the track. Good job crossing the line and then getting the car to come back across where the gavel could grab more of the vehicle. It ain’t just about making it go straight and fast. These drivers need to know a lot more than that. Race ain’t over until you’re safely slowed down at the end of it all.

He was totally trying to hit that flag guy! XD

Number 5 this year with no chutes and/or the sand trap. WTF is going on?. If we get a double into the sand at the same time,,it could be very very bad. Ok NHRA, it's time to pull on your big girl pants and do something about this.

Why didn't he pull chute earlier

Ron should watch MotoGP or Super-bike racing. If anyone that should be scared or shaken are riders that high side or well, just crashing. On bikes there is no roll cage only padded leather racing gear. These riders get thrown, they slide for meters & they all pretty much get up & run to the bike to see if they can remount & Vet back into the race.

on my instagram page of modelcarpaul I did a video for 2 excap hatches that should be looked into also on my f book page they need 2 bust away hatches on booth sides of the chassis firewall so the driver can get out or the safety crews can easily remove the panels to get in and get the driver out if he or she is knocked out in this type of crash or fire

Hard to tell. There are live mics with the cameras at the starting line, the announcers' booth, mid-track and at the finish line, so there's alot of chatter to process. With my audio editing software, a very Ron Capps sounding voice says "don't worry about it" at the point you're talking about (1:45), but it may be a voice somewhere else in the feed. I hope that helps!

Been hit by a kart and that was good enough for me! Was a rain race and when driver hit the brakes and kart snaps around. I start walking backwards and forgot to factor in that rain tires and brakes mean nothing on wet grass! Was about 2 steps slow! Caught up with driver next round and apologized for making them angry enough to run me over ! For 90% of 4 seasons had best seat in the house at turn 1!! For A+D worked Sunday mornings then afternoon race was my pay. Then back the next wéekend for club races!! Bit of a drive and day started at 4 am .Home at 7 pm was a good day. Pay not great and still one of the best jobs I ever had!!

Perhaps add a manual mechanical hand brake in the future?

They do have normal brakes too, but they're going over 300mph, there's not too much you can do in that situation if the parachute malfunctions

@@lewisbiggs5977 Yea, but if you can stop a jet aircraft or space shuttle going well over 200-300 MPH surely you can make a dent in a ground-base vehicle.

@@superbmediacontentcreatorWell the brakes on a jet aircraft are gigantic for a start, way too big and heavy for a drag car, they also routinely catch fire when they land slightly too fast. You can only fit so much brake inside those wheels, the people who build and drive these cars know that, and they know that if their chute doesn't work they're probably going into the sand trap, that's why it's there. It's a calculated risk.

Come on man are you telling me that far more creative minds than I (and so obviously you) can not solve what in the end is nothing more than yet a technical probem.I do not see ending up upside down or upside down and sideways as an acceptable solution and I am done arguing with you as you see things in a format that does not see solutions, possibility and the future and I can not be bogged down by minds like yours, thank you.

@@superbmediacontentcreator That's exactly what I'm saying, cause the top drag racing teams in the world will still go in the gravel if the chute doesn't work, so I'm gonna go ahead and take their word for it that there's nothing small or lightweight or safe enough to stop it other than a parachute. And if there is, not all the teams wanna use it, there's some rules around it, or something, cause obviously they'd be using it by now.

Those sand traps are absolute bullshit. They cause more damage to a car then just having a paved surface with double or triple arrest nets. Maybe the US NAVY should get with NHRA and have them put sand traps on the aircraft carriers.😂😂😂😂

Robert also had that problem. smoked out, wins the race, slams on the brakes, chutes deploy late, and into the sand trap. They need to work on this or the race will end two ways either into the sand trap or dead and we don't want dead Season 2 of Driving Force John explained to Ashley what can happen. Four months later at Gangeville it happened Eric Medlen smoked out and his chutes did not deploy he hit the sand trap the car broke apart and when they found it all that was left was Medlen's mangled remains on the side of the road. Some say it was sabotage and I will agree and everyone says DSR cheats that I partly agree. The point is these cars are dangerous and Capps knew to get the chutes out because he was going into the sand.

That's not how he died, Aaron. Medlen's car went into violent tire shake about halfway down the track as the clutches went into full lockup mode; his head was whipped side to side an estimated 150 times. It knocked him unconscious, the chassis snapped as the result of the shake, then he slammed the wall which is the collision that delivered the fatal blow. Your brain simply can't stand those kind of G forces. His car came to rest against the retaining wall; it never went into the sand. Team Force developed an elaborate head protection system immediately afterward, and NHRA immediately mandated it for all cars in both the Funny Car and Top Fuel classes. Not long afterward, that system saved Ashley Force's life when she slammed the wall at a documented 58g's.

Have they found a way to make the paint stick to that car ? Because judging by the paint on my Chevy van ,Chevrolet has not figured this concept out. I mean the rest of the world has. Ford, Dodge, even South Korea has figured out how to make paint stick to cars. And Chevrolet can't?
