I'll be 63 in February. I hear you brother. Long time Canuck fans have to live by the mantra of : cautious optimism. We've had Lucy yank the football away at the last second so many times, older fans have a mild version of PTSD. But I do agree with your synopsis of this group. They're clearly buying into Tocchet's system and with the results so far, why wouldn't they. To state the obvious, predicting future outcome is pretty much impossible. There are way too numerous a floating variable. Those who do guess right, are lucky, not geniuses. Because with a few injuries to elite franchises, pathways can suddenly open to making the Finals. The Canucks, if lucky, could make the Finals. But there's a scenario where they lose in 6 games to Vegas or LA in the first round. Here's hoping the Hockey Gods throw us a bone after 50+ years of disappointment and frustration.

Big result. Hawks are dogshit this season, but they were up for this game. There's that lingering rivalry that stems from the last 10 seasons, and Canucks shored up better in defence. I’ve been wondering why the Canucks keep getting out shot badly (10-0 to begin this game) so often. I just read that this has been Tocchet’s strategy of applying rope-a-dope to the opposition. Let the defense and goalies weather the other team’s offense so they can get decode their strategy and then adapt and come up with a counteroffensive which is why their GF and GA in the 2nd period has been their best period all season.
Let’s go Canucks let’s go

This is rebuild year 1. They will get a few more prospect into the system and have to spend money to get to the floor. Latest estimate is the Hawks have over 55 mil in cap space to work with this off season. This season is about showing growth and that should encourage a few bigger talents to come here and we will be able to afford 20 mill for 3 really good players and still have cap room. I am also not saying they will be a cup contender, but half of the teams that play in the NHL make the playoffs. Save of the year maybe?
Reese Johnson had been a pest all game long. Lay a big hit on Elias Pettersson was too much to ignore, and Nikita Zadorov immediately comes to his defense. Last season, the Canucks had 34 fights as a team, equal to their total from the two years before that combined. However, they lost frequent fighters Kyle Burroughs and Luke Schenn prior to this season starting. The acquisition of Zadorov, who is good for one to three fights per season, will help offset that loss in toughness as he is an imposing figure on the blue line.
2 power play goals from Chicago. Fatigue?
Go Canucks keep it rolling on!! A bit disappointed in Bedard and his whining about penalty calls. Победная шайба за Илюхой!
In hindsight, not just losing Bedard in the draft but losing him to the Blackhawks appears to have worked in the Canucks favour. The Blackhawks were so eager to surround Bedard with veterans that when bad luck hit them by losing both Hall and the Perry at the same time, it made them desperate enough (and with more cap space as a result) that they could take Beauvillier and all his salary which freed up enough Canucks cap space to get Zadorov and all his cap hit, which was a requirement from the Flames. It’s kinda bittersweet. If Bedard had been a Canuck, he would’ve joined them when they had their best start in franchise history, while they were the best offensive team and his first game would’ve been the real Connor vs Connor battle when the Canucks won 8-1. How many goals would he have scored then?

Gotta be good to be lucky. You never see lucky bad teams.
I knew Vancouver would go back to Their Swedish Style of Playing. There goes their Playoff Hopes.

Outplayed by the 32nd and worst team in the NHL and Vancity somehow squeaks out a win with the help of the refs.....and they act all proud of themselves.

@@glennhankins6927 5th game in 8 days comming off a back to back day games after travelling. Getting 3 outta 4 points is pretty damn good if you ask me. And the refs? Wtf were you watching? 2nd goal went out of play and wasn’t whistled, and that one player kept playing without his helmet right infront of stripes. That’s a automatic penalty too. Must be jealous oilers fans.

@@evanmoore6170 Jealous?..... McDavid and Draisaitl will have more playoff success this year than Vancity.

@@glennhankins6927 lmao playoffs??? they have no goalie or actual Defence. How are they going to win? Canucks have a top 5 goalie in the league a better D core and more depth throughout the line up. Mcdavid and Drai can only take that team as far as the power play let’s them. Clown
