Huge difference when Montreal's defense shows up and Price is making those huge saves. That Perry line though, they generate a lot of scoring chances. Caulfield and Toffoli look great out there as well.

@@north9093 I agree they barely won, but they also had ZERO sympathy from the refs. They missed AT LEAST 2-3 calls against Vegas. Having no PP and several PK's do kill momentum and allow the opponents to gain it. Maybe if the ref had reffed a little more equally, the momentum wouldn't have been that much in Vegas's favor. Maybe not, iunno. Just saying. Powerplays and Pkills really affect momentum.

@@Gogalen789 if you look at the raw statistics, yep it's low, but actually watching those shots during play, he's trying to make plays happen, so I'll gladly have a player take too many shots that don't go in over someone who shoots high percentages, but only once or twice per game. You never know what's gonna happen with a deflection, or line of sight ^^

@@Gogalen789 He is giving up the shot for percentage opportunities on his assists. Sees the open player well enough and gets his passes to connect through difficult coverage. I'd much rather see him with a pile of assists than foiled shots because someone else is getting the goal if not him.

I complain about this all the time. They had no energy that whole game until about 5 minutes left in the 3rd. No idea why they have spells like this in the playoffs it’s mind boggling. They did the same thing vs Minnesota.

Montreal has the same amount of playoff game wins THIS YEAR as the Leafs do in their last three playoff appearances combined.

Outstanding fore=checking and back-checking on the part of Montreal. Their offensive attacks were solid in the first period and they kept it going off and on after that, but they'll have to keep the offensive attacks going for 3 solid periods in the following games if they are to win the series. Price was amazing. I somehow believe they can do it. Maybe the spirit of Maurice Richard is watching over them : )

I think that's just the way they play. A high-speed, mass offensive in the first period or two and, if they score a couple of goals, switching to defence. They just simply want to avoid unnecessary breakaway goals when they have a lead. They go back to offence if the score is tied, though.

I was very happy that you guys beat the wild and upset the defending champions in the Blues but was sad that Vegas barely squeaked by Demko.

Habs haven’t won a game 2 in round 3 since 1993. They also haven’t tied a series in round 3 since 1989.

Vegas is not the best team in the NHL (TB is until proven otherwise) but they are damn good and your point is right on the money. The still too small (forwards, w/ exceptions), too old/slow (some defenceman), insufficiently tough, nasty and mean team representing a snowflake province (figuratively and literally), so the critics and haters say, is skillfully and wholeheartedly engaged and can evidently win this series by keeping bonehead, unnecessary icing down to minimum and win their D-zone faceoffs more consistently. Believe it.

Scotia - Honda : both teams has weaknesses, but , I might say this is best hockey i seen since Pittsburgh. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

Still a lot of hockey left to play, Vegas dropped 4 on Price in game 1 and Habs dropped 3 on Fleury tonight, this is an interesting series so far. I'm not panicking for my Knights tho, especially cuz we have Fleury.

@@49erfaithful86 I completely agree with you. Vegas is the favorite and in my option, one of the best teams in the league. I like that they are not top heavy like the Avs, oilers, and leafs. We all know what happened to those teams. What the Habs have going for them is a strong team concept and a goalie that elevates his game during the playoffs.

Looked to me like tonight the Canadiens were the kings in the Golden Knights' palace.

First off, we gotta ice less and win the draws cuz it seems like the only way Vegas scores is off a draw and a slapshot.

The Habs are the most likeable team remaining in my book. I hope they csn finish the Knights off quickly.

Good win by the Habs. That being said, there’s a lot a areas of their game they can work on and clean up. For instance, wayyy to many goals off D-Zone faceoffs since the beginning of the playoffs. The second Pietrangelo goal is a set play that Vegas has tried a few times now. Pietrangelo actually had a golden opportunity to score on the same play in Game 1 but the puck skipped over his blade. Habs should be looking at video and adjusting, especially if they keep icing the puck this often.

Habs played two pretty decent road games all told. Game 1 got away mid way through, but they got the goals early tonight.

Yeah, if those opportunities would've come to fruition in the first period of game 1, it might've looked like a similar game to this one. While Vegas doesn't have much issue with trailing, it's clear Montreal plays best when ahead.

Its hard enough beating the VGK but having to beat both them and the refs. Good win Habs!

@@maximiliengaudreau4038 Yeah, they tried. All they ended up doing was screening Price. The problem with blocking in this situation is that all Habs players are between the faceoff dot and the goal after a lost faceoff. Blocks are a lot safer when attempted further away from the net, because if they're unsuccessful, the goalie still has some time to respond. An unsuccessful block from 10 feet in front of Price is extremely dangerous. So instead of doing this, they have to do a better box-out on lost defensive-zone draws. That way, if the d-man takes the point shot, Price can see it all the way, and what he can see, he can stop. This will have the effect of forcing the defenseman (Pietrangelo both times) to fake the shot and try a pass, work the cycle, etc. And that's making Vegas play the way Montreal wants them to play (Montreal has been money at creating turnovers in their own end, and especially good at disrupting the puck cycle). So yes, this needs fixing. But if they hadn't been exhausted because of the mandated no-change following icing, I think (at least) one of these goals doesn't happen. You can see the Habs just...standing around in their zone after Nick loses the draw. They had no energy to do anything else. So...they absolutely MUST work on their zone exits so that icings are less commonplace.

Yes! Also delivered a stunning check earlier in the game - goodness, even little 'smurf' Suzuki did too. What's gotten into these forwards? They want it - this is the kind of all out effort it takes to win playoff games!

The refs and/or the league definitely have an agenda here. What do they gain from letting a team that sells out regardless of performance win? Luckily, Habs pulled out a big one today.

@@Nixonbutcher just because someone is Vgk fan doesn't mean they are new to hockey way before the knights we had a minor hockey team and they sold out a lot of games I used to be a penguins fan all my life but I was boring in Vegas so when Vegas got a NHL team I been a fan before they even played their first game so don't think everyone that's a vgk fan is new to hockey and besides that I played hockey on my high school team in Vegas

Plenty of Avs fans and Wild fans complained about this game’s refs on Facebook so I’d say we’re not that biased. Clearly they got word from Bettman they had to keep the Knights away from the penalty box...

1)The refs must forget they have a whistle half the time because spearing a guy when he's down *REALLY* calls for a penalty 2) 6:20 This had potential to be the most awe inducing thing 3) Jeff Petry's eyes scare me. A lot. Lmao

The Habs earned this one no doubt. VGK didn't turn up the heat until it was too late. VGK seemed too disjointed and lackadaisical for most of the game. The addition of Petry, Merill, and Danault's face off ability definitely helped with Stephenson out of the mix. With that said, Go Knights Go! Let's get it back!

Danault took one offensive zone draw...and SEVENTEEN defensive zone draws. Guy's a LEGEND (he won 61% of his faceoffs tonight). He may not contribute much on the scoresheet, but I think without him, the Habs would've been in serious trouble tonight.

@@JOE_XD Me? I've followed VGK since their inception and have watched/played hockey since the 90's so I'm not a bandwagoneer. Loved watching Roy, Sakic, Forsberg, and all the greats of that era. My wife and I love visiting Vegas so it just happened to be a great time/fit when VGK came in to the league.

@@JOE_XD I'm in the US. Always had a soft spot for hockey ever since transitioning from traditional US sports like soccer and baseball growing up. Loved playing as a defenseman but would often get put in as a winger. LOL. Marchessault's my fav from VGK. Small in stature but he's got a big heart and hustles.

This is an insane effort from Montreal, two of our Centre's are 20 and 21😳 I could go on... Imagine if they had a tad more experience. So proud of the whole team, I'll admit I wrote them off just before game 5 against Toronto! How wrong I was.

Ggs Habs, I paid more attention to the fans that weren't panicking after game one, just feeling bad for Price and wanting their guys to step up. We have a great HC that's calm and collected, and a goalie that is capable of winning it all as well, it's good, 1-1 more interesting than 2-0 tho that's what I wanted haha ggs
